HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!
Hey why are you talking about hentai? It's all about DeathNote and the Excel Saga, and stuff like that!

Seeing you post is like rectal cancer, it's treatable, but I wouldn't fucking want rectal cancer. I really miss when this club was super elitest.
Fuma Conspiracy was pretty good.

A mod locked your thread, a mod who happens to have nothing to do with this club. Your club was locked because there is already an anime club (this club).

Without Gendo, Kuro, or Haro, shit is just not the same.

The club doesn't have enough members to be super elitist anymore.
Back when it had a bunch of members that posted all the time it was fine, but now if it kicked out every average joe that liked Naruto then it would die fast.
The best you can hope for is some sort of system of rehabilitation for those who have inferior taste.
There is a large anime community is that community just not on Newgrounds anymore?

A lot of people on Newgrounds are fans of anime, but I think the problem isn't a lack of fans, it's the lack of users in the Clubs & Crews section. I've noticed a lot of these clubs have very few users, despite the fact that there a ton of people can sign up for them. A lot of people also talk about anime in the general forums despite the fact that moderators encourage anime disscusion in this thread instead.

I doubt that any of us like Naruto, I've been a member just recently but thanks to you guys I was able to find and watch shows I would have never watched at all.
There is little ways to gain new members, the only one that isn't annoying that I can think of is advertising in your sig. I mean there are tons of people who hate anime for no reason. I don't enjoy it because it's Japanese, but because nothing that comes on American TV has a storyline.
I'm watching Urusei Yatsura right now, and well there are a lot of episodes. 200 to be exact. I got it from my local Slackers, which is a used Movie Cds and Game store (great selections), and I found a torrent for it online. The file size was almost 40 gigs, that sure is a lot.

If you had to choose one character to represent this club who would it be?

I say this. Mainly because we could be anyone anywhere. We could be a child or an adult, we could be a male or female.
Now does anyone know any good shows that either are funny, action packed, weird, or thoughtful.

Is Kuze that guy at the hospital who didn't want to get a prosthetic body?

Are you talking about Ghost in the Shell. I never picked up on anyone's name in that show, I don't even know the one woman's name, I just call her chief. My favourite was the guy who used the revolver, he was the least robotic and kicked ass.
But if you are talking about the kid who made the paper cranes then I think so.

I say this because we're all angsty teenagers and thus all try and identify with Holden Caulfield.

I hated that book, Holden started to piss me off and I just wanted to punch him in the face several times until he had a concussion. He was never satisfied, he was a fuck up, and well he never tried to better himself. Never compare me to that drop out.

My fav. manga is FullMetal Alchemist and Death Note.

The reason most people hate anime is because they see stupid shit like Naruto and Yugioh on American TV and assume that all anime is like that. People fail to relise that majority of the best anime isn't shown on TV, but since people are too lazy and ignorant to try and find good ones to watch, they just assume they all suck.

My brother doesn't like anime because of the sole fact that it isn't always in English. He feels that he has to know what is being said at all times. That's why he says Rammstein sucks. BUt you really can't deem all of anime to be the same. There is a lot of shit out there, but if you wade through you might find a piece of gold or a gem.

I like alot of the anime aired on TV.
Bleach
FLCL
Ghost in the shell
Death note
They are overated but they are not bad.

I'm assuming your brother is also one of those people who refuses to watch old movies because they're not in colour?

Yeah, but man.
Who wants to wade through a pile of shit?

Often times, the good anime (e.g. Ojamajo Doremi, Tokyo Mew Mew and Crayon Shin-chan) ARE shown on American TV but not without being butchered first.

Your brother needs to get a clue. It's not easy to translate something like a TV show because naturally, things get lost. A lot of puns don't translate well across languages and there's always the cultural reference barrier that has caused trouble over the years.

IME, it's hard to tell what's shit and what's not. People have been cooing over shows like Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star for years, but if you watch them, there's no plot and the jokes just aren't funny. I tend to gravitate (no pun intended) toward mahou shoujo and music-themed series (K-ON! barely made the cut) because there's always something to keep me watching. Finding those types of series is a crapshoot.
I couldn't stand Holden Caulfield. I didn't even make it all the way through the Catcher in the Rye.
I got Porco Rosso from Netflix. I'll probably watch it tomorrow.

That is the only Miyazaki film I haven't watched, besides Ponyo. Tell me how it is.

90% of everything is shit. That's why in school they have required reading instead of just giving you a laissez faire pass to a library.
What makes that golden 10%, is a bit subjective, however. When talking about anime, your best guideline are online communities dedicated to anime, there you will find people who have the patience to look through all kinds of garbage to see if there's anything redeemable about any of it, and of course, find the good ones.
All that being said, who here still hasn't watched Baccano!. Right. I sugest you inflict a reasonable amount of pain on yourselves, and then go look it up, and watch it. Stop complaining about a sea of shit when you're standing in the vicinity of a island of gold and sex.
Hey everyone, I would like to join the anime club!
I am currently watching many anime at the moment, but the main ones would be One Piece, Bleach, Hitman Reborn, FMA: Brotherhood, and my current favorite "Needless".
I've also got a topic for everyone.
Was there ever an anime you watched and thought was amazing, until it was ruined by a bad ending?
I can't tell if you're joking, because you never use emoticons. ~ SolidToad

Ohhh, alot of those, most notably Escaflowne. what a Wall Banging Downer Ending That was.
So I got Detroit Metal City the other day, along with two Robot Chicken CDs, but I had the intention of buying Trigun and getting Samurai Champloo again.
Man, DMC is probably one of the strangest series I've seen, but it's epic. I'm like 3/4 episodes down, it's cool so far.

Berserk has a notoriously bad ending, but i guess that doesn't really count since its continued in the manga series.
Gantz also had a crappy ending, it made no sense. I have not read the manga version of that yet though.
