I loved Pokemon, I have watched 2 or 3 films and quite a lot of episodes from varying series, I have seen a lot of the one with that girl who puts pokemon into beauty show things rather than just fighting matches, I also saw a film of some atlantis like city.
I loved Digimon as well, sadly I haven't seen that in about 4 years maybe more : ( It's never on TV anymore.
Something I always found weird with these shows was that in Pokemon the pokemon do moves and attacks etc. and make noises while doing them like a cry or something.
On Digimon the digimon say the move they are going to do "titanpunch" or something, surely this just gives away what you are going to do and as such they can defend against them.
The most stupid has to be Yu-Gi-Oh, I watched a few of them (incredibly confusing) and they take about 5 minutes to say what they are doing, surely they can stop you in that time, keep it to yourself and you will be the best fighter on there.
About Yu-Gi-Oh, does anyone understand that? I first saw some episode and they were going to some Leviathan thing on a floating continent and they had this soul trap stage thing and used all these cards and said all these moves, that was cunfusing enough but then they end up...well I am sure they make up the moves they are doing as they are so complex, "I summon dragon and it brings 5 monsters from my graveyard and they get 25 attack points and they merge to megadragon and it gets a sword and then its move destroys your shadowthing and steals a trap that summons a mist to blind the attack of the monster to summon 2 creatures from my deck snd then I sacrifice all my graveard and dragon to sumon some witch that is worse but has a move that revies my deck and brings out my two big dragons and they get 10000 attack points and activate my trap card that summons a rift that steals your decks first card etc. etc. etc. etc. etc."
That is so damn bloody confusing that I actually watched a few episodes afterwards to try and understand what the hell was going on, I never did.
The original finnish Digimon dubs
It's so bad it's good.
No wait, it's so bad it's bad all over again.

That movie was so fucking 90's style that it made me smile.

That's so awful. Sounds like a fandub.

Ah, Yu-Gi-Oh...they always had to explain what they were doing for the audience. The duels were a little difficult to follow sometimes.
Anyone here heard of Duel Masters? I used to get up at 5:00 AM every weekday to watch that. Too bad everything past the first season was shit.

Make it stop. Please.

I liked it at first. It tried too hard to be funny instead of focusing on the card battles though, so I quit watching it.

Ugh, I'm kind of biased towards MegaMan after all the shitty games, but I remember that the old cartoons were kinda cool.
The only bad MegaMan games were the Battle Network and the ones for the Playstation. And let's not forget the terrible box art of the first one. Other than that, they've been really good.

Yeah.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
The best Megaman game ever begs to differ.

Lol, my mistake. I should have said the X series for the Playstation. MegaMan Legends is one of my favorites.

At least the English dub tried to be a parody of those sorts of shows. So... There's that.
As far as I know, the Japanese one was serious to some degree.
I remember when I got a free pack of Duel Masters cards at a convention, and then kicked the arse of a kid seven years younger than me (in a game of said cards, of course). Proudest day of my life.

Or the rental/purchase/borrowing of DVDs.
Oh wait, most of you kids can't watch anime legally because you just HAVE to watch straight out of Japan crap that no one cares about.
At 11/25/08 06:50 PM, Mendou wrote: What the hell are DVDs?
Some kind of oudated contraption thingamajig?
Yes.
Laserdiscs are what all the cool kids use these days.

I'd watch my anime legally if I could afford it. I'm on a fucking anime geek island where I live.
I also discovered anime preview on my Comcast on demand service. I watched the first three episodes of an interesting nudity-filled android maid anime. I can't remember the name...

Excuses, excuses.

What?
interesting nudity-filled
Does not compute.
In any case, probably Steel Angel Kurumi.
So, just finished watching Akira again for the first time in a year. Still brings a tear to my eye. Oh, the fluidity of the animation.

Don't assume everyone lives in Das Kapitalist Wunderland where everything is for sale.
Also, I give sufficient enough crap about Straight out of Japan stuff to watch it, and someone gave enough crap to reccomend it to me.

I'm not.
I'm far from foolish, but people watching things that are reasonably easy to access legally in their country by illict means is a fucking epidemic.
I like to buy my anime, so seeing rampant piracy and then watching companies go out of business or limit their selection as a result is fucking annoying.

Yeah well blah blah blah I'm Gendo and I'm awesome go watch Zeta Gundam woop woop.
So while my computer's been worked on, I've been slowly trudging through Sailor Moon.
It's slow going, but fuck, I'm finally getting back into it.
You know, without trying to fall asleep during the day.

When I said "how am I supposed to watch anime without a working CD/DVD-player" I thought it could be assumed they weren't stored on my desktop.
