1-Code Geass
2-Death Note (no duh, huh?)
3-Inuyasha
4-Avatar: The last Airbender (I know it's American and so not really anime to the purists, but it's in the style and IMO close enough)
5-Bleach

No sorry, you're not in. Unless there is someone else who says otherwise. So, stay for a bit, then we'll all decide your fate.

You know this club hasn't been refusing members for a while now, right?

That being said, I really do hate the guy's name.

Still, I don't believe you have much right to refuse him.

Don't feel too bad. It's actually amazingly hard to find anime in Japan. Or maybe that's just my experience, because I only hang out in military towns and get so drunk I can't walk.

I've never been a huge fan of anime/manga except for the occasional DBZ show every now and again. Lately, though, I've found myself watching some really interesting anime movies. Movies such as "Princess Mononoke", "Grave of the Fireflies", "Akira", "Ninja Scroll" (just to name a few) and some others. I've been so intrigued by these movies. I can see why people like anime so much. They artistic work as well as the story lines behind many of them are fantastic.

All worthy pursuits, good sir. I advise you to continue along this path. Just avoid the more generic stuff.

Exactly. The thing is, many people dismiss something as complex and varied as anime because of a few bad examples.

Woah, woah, woah.

Don't go saying that anime is 'complex' just yet.

There may be some complex animated shows made in Japan, but that doesn't mean that anime as a whole is complex.

It's also not as varied as one would like. I'm sure you know how many shows are exactly the same.

No, you misunderstood me. I meant, as a medium, enime is a varied and complex one, as in, there are many different types of shows and movies, complex being the opposite of simple.

If you're going to correct me, at least provide some more information as to what you meant.

Because as far as I can see, you just reaffirmed what you said before.

What I was saying is that there are many different types of shows and movies, but it's not balanced.

When the majority of it is taken up by silly fighting shows and shows about high school girls, you can't really say it's too complex or varied.

I shall be continuing the series.

Wow Golgo 13... I didn't knew that anime episodes are being produced... I remeber that there's a movie from the 80's with it's story.

There's some language barrier here or something.

What I meant:

Not all shows are complex, but the fact that there are so many different shows from those silly fighting and highchool gilr shows to philosophical mindfucks makes the medium of anime complex.

It appears to me that one too many anime fans are jumping on either the Naruto bandwagon or the Bleach bandwagon. I ask like 12 different people IRL, "So what's your favorite anime?" The answer is basically either "ZOMG BLEACH" or "OMFG NARUTO!" Now I know these are just 12 people, but like I said, it appears to me ONLY. Just my two cents. Argumentum ad Populem is what's going on, the appeal to the masses and what's currenty popular; like Naruto is some kind of fad that's going to die out because it's EVERYWHERE.

Way to state the obvious, they're popular running series with both having a massive fanbase so of course you'll go up to 12 people and most will say"Bleach or Naruto"

I think that he meant that most people that are starting to watch anime in nowdays go for naruto or bleach only because they are popular. You see, I bet that are lost of users who have posted on this thread have only watched naruto or bleach or dragon ball. Well, I have nothing against them, but it would be great to tell that people that anime is not just those 3 titles.

I don't dislike "shonen in general".

I'm sure you've learned that not all anime is like Naruto etc., learn that not all shonen is as well.

So I just read a volume of Uzumaki.

I'm not sure how serious it's meant to be, but I found it amusing.

It was like reading a parody of a horror comic crossed with a Tim Burton film.

Yes, that is exactly what I was trying to get across. I'll now add this sentence so I can post my reply. Now another one apparently because two sentences isn't enough to post such a short reply.

You've seen it already? Wikipedia says it won't come out in Japan until this Friday and there's no telling if there will be an English version for the US. There's also a live-action film slated for release August 23rd.
Speaking of live-action anime films, I've heard 20th Century Fox is making one of Cowboy Bebop. They signed it just two weeks ago, and the rumor is that Keanu Reeves will play Spike Spiegel. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I hope I get to see some Jeet Kune Do action.
