I forgot to mention that I finished watching Ninja Nonsense. It was a funny show. Next, I plan on watching Last Exile.

I was considering watching Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wars. Has anybody seen it? If so, is it any good?

Hell yes, I'm going to see it.

Did you watch the trailer for it?

DID YOU SEE THOSE COLOURS?

Man, it looks crazy fun.

Well, you DO have a point. If one were on an acid trip it may well be an enjoyable time.

I wouldn't know.

I just enjoy seeing colourful films, no matter my mental state.

Hi guys, just checking by, got a question that someone might be able to answer.

Is Lucky Star worth watching? I got it but I haven't watched it yet, would you say it is?

Depends on your taste, it's a bit random, and in-joke'ish for a casual viewer.

Ye its the kind of show that pats you on the back for getting references to popular series.

OOOOOH, SNAP!

But yeah, the prevalence of pop culture gags is annoying unless you're a compulsive /a/ lurker with a taste for non-hilarity. And the characters are cardboard stereotypes.

The animation is pretty impressive, though.

Random?

The whole show is based around its complete lack of randomness.

But I found it funny, while ignoring most of the straight pop culture references (by that, I mean direct references to specific anime).

I've watched five episodes of Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei so far, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Kiri Komori is so cute,

Basically you could compare it to a flashy whore at first glance its looks dazzle and intrigue you until you realize its nothing but a festering piece of festering shit after looking it over again.

If you like really lame references to other, better anime then sure, go ahead.

I wonder how many people realise that references to other anime is not the only thing that Lucky Star does.

It has far more reference to genre conventions than specific anime.

And surprisingly enough does attempt humour outside of anime and video game references.

Meh, well I think it tries too hard to be funny. And while it does have humour outside of references, most of the characters ARE otakus, and USUALLY joke about Otaku-related things. I think Azu-manga does a better job of the regular life comedy than Lucky Star does. Lucky Star just feels kinda forced at times.

Four, or so, of the characters. One in the main group of school girls. Two in the other group that turns up halfway through the series. And Konata's father.

That's out of about 15-20 characters, some of which have general interests in things like video games, much like a definite large number of teenagers in Japan.

You can't honestly say that Azumanga's characters were believable.

Out of interest, how much of Lucky Star have you seen?

I just watched a great hentai. Hatsu Inu.
It has a really great and funny story.
I can't really describe things very well, so I'll put a link to the description. =/
Hatsu Inu description
Anyways, if you're able to watch it, and ike hentai, then I recommend it.

This is where I cut in to agree.

Azumanga is also a fairly poor example of slice of life authenticity, even moreso than Lucky Star at its core.

In fact, the only slice of life series I found to be moderately close to reality was Yotsuba&!, everything else I've seen or read is ludicrous by comparison.

When I watched an episode of Hidamari Sketch it seemed reasonably reality-like.

Unfortunately, that meant that it was mind numbingly boring as a result.

I'm still curious as to whether the anachronic episode structure of that series amounts to any thematic purpose.

Miu, Nobue, Matsuri and Ana =/= realistic characters.

Chika seems realistic enough, but only because she's the straight character.

Huh, that was a hot-button issue... Oh well, I like Lucky Star, different storkes and folks, you know.

So finished watching Genshiken... Damn. It was one of those series that you just want to sit down and watch straight through And I really got a bit connected with the characters, and it almost feels bad that it ended...
