You scarcely seem to have a clue what good /m/ is, you've got Tomino's dick too far down your throat.

Some of us like more than the same formula for each show. Reluctant hero, TRAGEDY, villains with conflicted morals, TRAGEDY, in-fighting tears the good guys apart, TRAGEDY, the bad guys make their move, the good guys somehow survive, climatic final battle, HUGE EXPLOSION, everyone dies.

Wing has a few Gundam cliches (not to mention typical 90s anime melodrama), but what's original there is fresh and interesting compared to most of the older shows.

ISN'T SOMEONE WITTY?

The show tried too hard to be some hard hitting war drama. The characters babble about peace and bullshit shit philosophy nonstop( i think peace is the most used word in the whole show).

Welcome to every Gundam series ever.

Stop being a hypocrite, that kind of shit is present in everything Tomino writes.

You guys make it so hard for someone not in the conversation to get involved in it. :(

Well, just start your own conversation, and you have a 1 in 5 chance of not getting flamed!
Seriously though, Gendo, if cliches are what you don't like, then why do you watch anime? Almost every show is filled with cliches...

Oh come on.

Spike's voice was spot on.

Actually, the only voice I found was worse than the Japanese version was Ed's, but that's just because I really liked Aoi Tada's voice for her.

Spike and Jet's voice seemed very out of place in the Japanese version.

I only disliked the English voices in the the seires when they're not fucking in Cowboy Bebop. Like Wendee Lee's, and Steven Jay Blum's voices. LOL Haruhi/Konata/otherteenagers, and lol, Shin.

I'm generally ok with dubbing, from the ones I watch it works well, but the same goes for the original. It kind of depends on which one I feel like listening to at the time.

Muchly agreed.

Jet made me want to blow my brains out.

So....boring.

God damn you, Kyoto Animation.

Deciding to make another series of Clannad.

Now I'll have to watch it!

Though I suppose after the last episode, I did get a big "this could so easily continue" vibe.

I just discovered that this one is primarily about Nagisa.

I might give it a miss.

Steven Jay Blum didn't do voice work in Haruhi( i think you meant Freefries).

That's why I've become slightly picky with anime.

At 4/4/08 01:18 PM, Mendou wrote: I don't get people that hate them so much, not everyone likes reading subtitles all the time. But that's just me i guess.

I watch an assload of foreign films from all over, so I'm used to it. There is some anime I watch dubbed, such as Lupin III, Shin Chan, and Cowboy Bebop, but most of the time, I think it's better to hear the original voices.

At 4/4/08 02:18 AM, MattTheParanoidKat wrote: and lol, Shin.

I didn't listen to more than a few seconds of the dub of Hokuto no Ken, so for a while I didn't even realize Blum and Lex Lang were in it.

A dub debate huh? Well, believe it or not, I hated death note untill I watched it dubbed. The english actors made a shitty anime into a semi-decent one. I also can't watch Cowboy Bebop in Japanese. Most of the time sub> dub. But some dubs CAN get it right.... and some dubs are better then the subs(Black Lagoon comes to mind) Anyways, I am going to ICON tomorrow, a anime/videogame convention. I am a pretty big deal when it comes to brawl, so I am mostly gonna see the video game tournament section...

Really?

I thought Light's voice was horrible.

It turned an unlikable character into a hateable one.

Though the show managed to do that anyway, down the line.

The voices for bit parts were good, though.

Even if that isn't much.

Oh come on, it's not difficult to start up a conversation in this club.

All you have to do is go:

"So I'm watching this new anime..."
"So I bought this new merchandise..."
"So I hate this particular anime..."
"So I'm thinking about watching this new anime..."
"So I went to this convention..."

Or you could just pick out one single part of another person's post, and then reply to that in an attempt to start a conversation on that topic.

By the way, there's the only anime-related convention in my city for the year coming on in a couple of weeks (though it's really an anime/manga/video game/TCG/Sci Fi/Comic book convention (general nerdfest)).

I'm thinking about going to it, since I haven't been to it for several years.

Really?

I thought Light's voice was horrible.

I'm a Brad Swaile fan, so I liked it

It turned an unlikable character into a hateable one.

Nah, he got the whole "IM FUCKING INSANE" thing down...

Though the show managed to do that anyway, down the line.

Yeah, they kinda placed the focus on Mello and Near at the end

I think they aced L voice.

Even if that isn't much.

One of the more admirable dubs out there in my opinion. Swaile is hit or miss, but he plays crazy people well...

Has anyone tried the Hokuto no ken flash demo that just passed judgment in the portal? It looks pretty good, but apparently it doesn't work. The full version on the artist's website, however, is great.

Loaded for me.

The game's really damn fun, and a bit better tweaked than the HnK MUGEN characters.

I'll give it another try. It does have Rei, who I couldn't seem to find for MUGEN.

Sorry its been so long, everyone!

My house burned down on March 11th and I haven't been online since yesterday.

All of my manga is either ashes or impossible to read now and my anime DVDs all were either destroyed or damaged in some way.

Plus my big list of animes is gone now as well and its gonna take me ages to remeber every single anime I have ever watched and make a new list.

No house, shitty insurance, no anime, no manga, no computer for an entire month and barely enough money to rent an apartment for my family and I.

Plus I gotta pay for college tuition on top of that or i'm gonna be out of school....

God damn it, I hate my current situation!
