I'd have to recommend that you watch Princess Mononoke and Castle in the Sky. They're pretty basic anime, but they have good storylines.

Take your pick. Most of my stuff is more high geared fanboy stuff, or say the scores anyways. Looking forward to reading the Vampire Hunter D manga someday. *sigh*

Also, nice sig. Weasels Ripped My Flesh wasn't Frank Zappa's best album but it is good for what it's worth.

I wonder when the last time I updated my anime list.

Well last time it was incomplete, and it's probably going to stay that way.

It's like Paranoia Agent, only a lot worse.

I personally enjoyed Higurashi more then Paranoia Agent. It's all a matter of taste, I suppose. Higurashi was just "scarier" and that was what I was looking for at the time.

Sure it is.

If you have good taste, you'd prefer Paranoia Agent, whereas if you have bad taste...

Higurashi was just "scarier" and that was what I was looking for at the time.

Paranoia Agent isn't really a horror.

It's more a paranormal mystery, with elements of black comedy.

I found that movie to be far exceeding my expectations.

I watched it in some sort of completest mood, and wasn't expecting much, since I had seen other non-Miyazaki directed Ghibli films, but was pleasantly surprised.

Definitely the best non-Miyazaki Ghibli film, and better than some of the Miyazaki ones.

I've almost seen all of the Ghibli films, but I still haven't seen Only Yesterday, I Can Hear the Sea (which I bet I won't, since it was a TV movie), and Tales from Earthsea.

None of which I'm in a huge hurry to see.

That wasn't a good film.

It was just plain boring.

I did get to see it in the biggest screen in the city, on the special comfortable chairs for cheap, though.

I'v seen only Yesterday. Nice film about looking back at your childhood. Nostalgia to the extreme. Doubt i will ever see i can hear the sea as well. it 'snever even released on DVD i think. While i hope Earthsea gets a release outside of Japan eventually.

Earthsea already has been released outside of Japan.

It's out on DVD here.

It's just not out in the US from what I hear.

No, you don't.

It was critically drubbed.

As in "worst movie of the year" critcally drubbed.

If you must have it, the Region 2 disc includes the English dub (which has Timothy Dalton in it).

It got 58% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hardly "worst movie of the year" material (which may have been I Know Who Killed Me, or something), though still below average (rotten).

Though that was out of 12 reviews.

They stopped doing the karaoke thing, and instead started using Minoru Shiraishi singing in live action.

I think there was also another ending which had the voice actor for Akira Kogami (Hiromi Konno) singing in live action.

In other news, as of January 1, Anime Network has canceled their 24/7 service. They will continue On Demand broadcasting, but the reason I upgraded from Time Warner to WOW no longer exists.

Japan's critics disagree.

Rotten Tomatoes is somewhat untrustable for foreign releases, as it centres exclusively on well-known American critics.

Why in God's name would you want to seek out a film widely regarded as mediocre at best?

I fucking love Timothy Dalton and Ghibli films, but the premise just doesn't hook me abd the reception hardly increases my near-nonexistent desire.

Your five favourite anime and a sentence or two about each.
1.Death Note
I really like the plot in this one with Kira trying to change the world.
2.Inuyasha
Kind of a love story on my part, very interesting with Naraku.
3.Lupin III
Very funny and makes me crack up when I see it.
4.Cased Closed
I like detective stories and I love how this little kid is such a genius (although he isn't a kid).
5.Bleach
I love Ichigo he is awesome, the show is funny, and the storyline is good.
2. What kind of anime do you dislike?
I don't really dislike any of the anime I've watched.
3. What got you into anime?
Umm, I'm just a nerd really.

Wikipedia just says that Japan had both strong proponents and detractors.

There was nothing about anyone saying it's the "worst movie of the year".

But I'm not hugely surprised that the film isn't very good.

Non-Miyazaki Ghibli films are often mediocre, and directing ability isn't hereditary.

Anyway, I could have seen it at the last NZ Film Festival, but I decided I would have rather gone and seen Animation Now!, a collection of animated short films.

Animation Now! ended up being quite good.

Well it is about time I thought of joining this club. Can I also?

1) .hack//SIGN
I love this show as the story is brilliant, I can relate to the characters, and compared to action I much prefer story over it anyday.(I am wierd I know)
2)Bleach
I loved soul reavers ever since The Legacy of Kain and I got into this strait away - also first I saw.
3)FullMetal Alchemist
I loved this and I decided I would when I saw episode 3 Mother first. I love the idea of Alchemy and all of the story is great.

However I only just got into anime in September and though I do have the .hack//SIGN soundtracks and Bleach / FMA DVDs I have only managed to see these three, I have yet to see five. I plan to watch Gunslinger Girl and Ghost in the Shell soon though

Dislike? I have not seen enough that I did not, though Cowboy Bebop did look bad for it's adverts and Vision of Escaflowne looked a bit silly. Also Transformers I never liked due to the way that the kids who can do nothing were always an important star in the story.

What got me into anime? I honestly do not know but as soon as I saw my first anime in September I have loved it and it is my favourite form of entertainment.
I feel like I have also been excluded from alot of people as I am the only person in my School who watches it and many use this against me. But I happily put up with the few people for my own beliefs.

Do you feel like I can join?
