Soon.
Nothing wrong with hard hitting drama.
Damn skippy.
It was one of the finest story arcs I've seen in a TV show.
Sounds like a nice break from the hard hitting drama.
Yup, it made for some over-the-top fun.
I'm surprised Claude Weaver managed to last until the last episode.
"YOU'RE THE ROCKETMAN, BABY!"
Huh....that's not good.
Oh well, the Yakuza are involved, so it's guaranteed to at least be kinda cool.

I found that arc to be the best one in the series.
Now to get ready for Fujiyama Gangster Paradise, the longest (and from what I've heard, most tedious) arc in the series.
That arc just got me thinking.
What it managed to do in 6 episodes, Cowboy Bebop managed to do consistently in one.
More shows need pacing like that.

I'd say it's tied with Der Ruckher Die Alders for best.
But that's just because I'm a whore for WWII trivia and such.
From an artistic standpoint, Hansel and Gretel is indeed the best arc. It actually manages to tackle some pretty harsh subject matter without turning it into an exploitative farce or ludicrous piece of melodrama.

Given how Second Barrage seems to have a hard-on for the secondary characters, I'm not too surprised by the arc's ridiculous length.
The more exposition about minor characters the better as far as Rei Hiroe is concerned.
Good pacing is a concept that modern anime does not seem to understand. Interesting plots are there and gone, everything else takes a dozen episodes to effectively cover.

It was still pretty ludicrous.

Sawyer remains one of the most awesome anime characters ever.

Black Lagoon has a whacked concept of reality.
Like how the Triads, the Russian Mob, the Mafia, Irish crack-cocaine fiends and many other ethnic carcicatures all speak Japanese, yet the Yakuza speak English.
Goddamn Chaka making this illogical cartoon show even stranger.
Sawyer remains one of the most awesome anime characters ever.
Fuck yes.
The chainsaw combat gimmick and kickass voice made for some pure badassery.

That's just where you have to imagine that they're all speaking their respective languages.
I would be more impressed if they had recorded different languages for their characters, but I haven't really seen that in an anime before.
Though hearing the characters speak English is funny enough in itself.

I'm almost convinced enough to remove my own larynx so I can legitimately speak using an ultravoice.
Not really. That would be more of an inconvenience than it would be worth.
Besides, I've grown attached to my larynx.

Gankutsuou has the Count of Monte Cristo speaking French at the beginning of each episode, there's some actual German dialogue in the English dub of Hellsing Ultimate, Beck was quite well known for its use of English voices, an episode of Evangelion features a reasonably lengthy (and grammatically correct) conversation in German.
Other than those, I can't really think of any other realistic usage of foreign languages in anime.

What's there to tarnish? Lucky Star is a terrible anime in the first place.

First 7 episodes, then I stopped. It was really too much pop culture, and Haruhi references I could take. I tried to go to the next episodes, but it was pissing me off. I should get atround to finishing it at the very least. But, I have better things to do.

It's the Kitty Krew; you can't expect works of art.
But my primary concern is that uninformed users will see this as a reason to bash anime as a whole.

That's ridiculous.
Most uninformed people on this site bash anime regardless, so I doubt the presence of bad anime in spam flash is going to cause a signifcant increase in anime bashing.

I don't see it as a big 'threat' either.
It's like dumping a cup of bad water into the ocean. Even after a hundred cups, the ocean would not have a change significant enough to redefine it.
Bigger push factors such as obsessive levels of fandom, how it is ending up everywhere and perhaps 'extreme-scale' tales and rumors would give people* less familiar with this (sub)culture a stereotypical image of fans in general.
It is just like how racial stereotypes come into existance if you think about it.
* Of course, I am using the general thought patterns of people as an example. Results and uncommon impression outcomes would vary among people for reasons too many to list out in detail.

There wasn't really that many Haruhi references within the show's dialogue.
It was mostly that the main character liked the show, and thus decorated her room with the things, so every episode in her room had to show it.
I just don't get why the creators had to show so many Haruhi posters in the first place, though.
Was it advertising, or did they just feel like screaming out that they made that series?

Probably a desperate ploy to get Haruhi fans to like the series.
It's sad that Kyoto Animation would resort to whorish subliminal advertising, since I'd hope that the technical merits of their series would be enough to sell them on their own.

They were both made by the same studio; Kyoto Animation.
The Lucky Star series was supposed to be only to boost views with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Or the other way 'round, it gets confusing after a bit.
1, 2, 3, Coffee 4, 5, 8, too late

Well they did manage to get people to like it.
I'm somewhat curious about how they came about to dubbing it, since it focuses more on Japanese culture than most other series' I've seen, thus it would not make sense watching in English.
It would feel odd anyway.

It's only getting dubbed to capitalize on the fad.
If the Haruhi hadn't sold like hotcakes, Bandai probably wouldn't have ever considered licensing it.
It would feel odd anyway.
It doesn't help that the cast is awful, too.

HENCE WHY I FUCKING HATED THE SHOW
Plus, did they realize by sticking in all the Haruhi-related material, they committed one of the biggest sins in film/television production?
Never, EVER, make frequent references to a superior film or TV series, as the audience will want to watch the better one instead.
I hardly want to watch something that's constantly reminding me of another thing I'd seen ages ago and liked much more.
I found it odd how well animated Lucky Star is, considering the type of series it is.
It seems a lot of comedy anime these days are being given larger budgets.
Ninja Nonsense and Azumanga Daioh also had ludicrous production values despite their simplicity.
Plus, KyoAni never holds back in regards to animation quality, everything else they've worked on looks as good, if not better.

I believe they're going by the idea that the people who are watching Lucky Star have likely already seen The Melancholy.

The Lucky Star series was made to adapt an already popular comic.
Popular enough that it sold so much on its release that they had to rush reprint it.
It is extremely unlikely that a company would make a show specifically to make people watch another, already ridiculously popular, show.

That's hardly a justification for the sheer number of needless references.
That makes it like some kind of attempt at an inside joke, except everyone gets it.
Like how American parody films congratulate their audience for getting references to other blockbuster films.

It was like Clerks, except without a plot, jokes and with schoolgirls.
