Wow, whomever wrote that is a childish elitist fuck.

Sure, Akira's story is sub-par (it's not like Otomo had much of a choice, with like 200 out of 2,000 pages of material to work with), but everything else about the movie is amazing.

The silly spelling errors and revelation that their taste in music does not extend beyond mediocre fantasy film scores gave me a laugh, though.

The scores for Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away were amazing, however.

On that note, I have just noticed a similarity between the Spirited Away ending song "Always With Me", and the Final Fantasy IX theme "Memories of Life".

Perhaps it's just my imagination, but it just seems quite odd.

I laughed so hard I almost shit myself. Ours are the cleanest bases, because all we fucking do is clean them, but our living standards give us the least amount of space, and we have the smallest budget, so not much good stuff for us.

Btw, if you don't mind me asking, what's your paygrade and MOS?

Lance Corporal (E-3) and 1171. I got screwed because I signed up to be a 2111. If I had that MOS I could be a Corporal or even Sergeant by now.

I love seeing military personnel on the internet, and well, it just makes me curious. When I get out of High School I'm going Navy, as an IT...joining the DEP right after this (my Junior) year is over with.

Prepare to get sodomized by a HIV-positive Chaplain (military priest). Seriously, it was in the Navy Times and the Marine Corps Times.

Finally started watching Desert Punk last night...

MY GOD, WHY DID I STAVE IT OFF?!

The show is fucking brilliant, the animation is great, the dub is impressive and the ending theme is the greatest fucking thing ever.

They were very creative with the jokes on the dub. The ending is disappointing though. They could've made it better.

Changing bland, unfunny lines into totally awesome pieces of Godliness.

Although re-writing the horribly offensive sexual comments about Kasuna in episode four made the ending less funny, but at the same time, the show is plenty tasteless enough without a child pledging to grow "gigantic breasts" and become the sex slave of a deranged pervert for the sake of becoming his apprentice.

The ending is disappointing though. They could've made it better.

Well, it's not like they had a choice, the manga is unfinished and ends abruptly after Kasuna becomes Desert Punk II.

Gonzo needs to stop taking manga that are unfinished/on-going and trying to make TV series of them, it ALWAYS results in a shit ending (Hellsing, anyone?).

The only real resemblance to anime that Final Fantasy XII has is that it was made in Japan.

In any case, I was impressed with Fran: She manages to be the only video game character I've seen who goes on dangerous adventures wearing a thong, while being a bunny girl.

It's like Squeenix was screaming "MAKE HENTAI OF THIS CHARACTER".

Your short posts, make them longer or stop posting. At least TRY and add something else to the conversation[s] at hand other that just blindly inputing something.

Decided to watch the first volume of Rozen Maiden. God damn is Jun's voice horrible. I don't like these piss yellow subs that Geneon uses but I've got no choice. Well, letting my ears bleed via dub voices but I'd rather keep my hearing.

WOW, PURPOSEFUL POST

I thought the era of dull, short one-liners had ended here.

I've started watching the new Fist of the North Star movies and I am quite impressed thus far.

The new voiceactors could be better, but the animation is eyeball-searingly beautiful and the re-recorded version of "Ai Wo Torimodose" is truly the most GAR piece of music ever.

BUT WHY IS RAOH PASTY WHITE? HE NEVER WAS BEFORE!

No, I didn't like Shin Hokuto no Ken (New Fist of the North Star).

I figured saying "new Fist of the North Star movies" would cause some confusion.

Amateurs?

Guess so. The entire staff seems new on these ones.

But he has his trademark dark skin in Yousow Okada's new manga, The Legend of Raoh.

Oh well, I kind of prefer the whole "serious discussion and less in-jokey" thing.

New films, fucking ace.

Yup, five part retelling of the series.

Movie one: Souther arc
Movie two: Last General of Nanto arc
Movie three: Final battle with Raoh
Movie four: The Silver Saint prequel
Movie five: Kenshiro's origin and the early arcs of the series

This film series has yet to be licensed for an official English adaptation.

Oh well, there's always fansu[MESSAGE TRUNCATED]

I'm glad to hear that.

The Legend or Raoh has badass art.

It lacks the super-detailed stuff the original manga had, but instead it is packed with Samurai Jack-esque stylized madness.

A remake of the final Raoh battle? This looks like a must watch.

It is, trust me.

Probably one of the most awesome things ever animated.

I'm it get's licensed.......eventually.....someday.

Media Blasters has supposedly shown interest in the old series and 1986 movie.

That'd be a dream come true.

Never really was a huge fan of that show.

Samurai Jack was thin on plot and got downright ridiculous as it went on, but had fucking awesome animation.

Oh, that sucks. My Naval Science Instructor commented that Marine bases are the second best when we did tour MacDill (he's a Msgt, btw, if that makes any difference).

Lance Corporal (E-3) and 1171. I got screwed because I signed up to be a 2111. If I had that MOS I could be a Corporal or even Sergeant by now.

Ouch, that sucks. Yeah, I hear they're really picky around ratings if you are good at something that you're not choosing. At least it's not infantry work (That rating is hygiene, right? Excuse me if I'm off, I'm kinda shabby with the Marines).

Prepare to get sodomized by a HIV-positive Chaplain (military priest). Seriously, it was in the Navy Times and the Marine Corps Times.

Rofl, that's horrible. I doubt that'd happen to me...even if I met a fag in the Navy (we have a LOT of personnel that come by, and like two recruiters, and not a single one is gay) they probably would think I'm too ugly for that. So I'm safe.

BTW, how do they take people who spend their free time with anime over there? I heard from a Marine recruiter (I'm still thinking I wouldn't mind Marines, but I'm stuck on Navy atm) that does networking that a lot of his buddies play WoW when they're done with work, and nobody seems to mind. I never would give up stuff that I use to take up my free time, but heh, I just wanna know how well other people take it in the real deal.

Fact, anything involving Vampuires, Nazis, Pirates, and Vikings is pure win.

Also, me and my friend from school were talking about Sailor Moon in art class, because he was wondering what their hair colours were. He thought Mercury (the sexiest one) had greewn hair, then this escalated when a chick in this art calss was all "WTF SAILOR MOON?" and another rather cool dude said "wow, that's mess, sailor moon. What about superman"

Ofcourse, being the memish person he is, my friend said "But, they're schoolgirls." This went on for 5 minutes of my friend saying "That, or schoolgirls." With me replying with: "SCHOOLGIRLS!!"

So, any other otaku conversations?
