Funny, I re-read that the other day.

This is an unpopular opinion, but I much prefer the manga.

The anime has amazing production values, but it's only really worth watching once.

The manga's a bit more low-rent and a lot more avant-garde (more dark, too, with far less silly innuendo).

As you may or may not know, I like my humour avant-garde.

I never thought I would live to see the day in which the Anime Club, Newgrounds' largest club (unlocked), died.

Perhaps if I had posted more, I may have been able to save it, but no.

Alas, it was not to be.

We had some good times, this club and I. Oh the times we had, there are too many to count. I believe it was upwards of 7.

Now until zombies walk the Earth, I am afraid I will not be able to relive these moments.

Goodbye club, goodbye.

Finished watching Ebichu the other day. Fantastic series for it's short worth and worth overall.

I need to play catch up with Kaiji, Bleach[SAMESHITLOL], Gundam 00. Still waiting PAINFULLY for the fourth Hellsing OVA. Either February of next year[most likely release date] or the end of this year is what has been said. Same for the Tales of Symphonia OVA, December of this year.

Still have Code Pizza But and ZZ Gundam to finish. Plus a shit ton of other series and DVDs I need to watch along with manga to read.

But alas, the holidays are such a troublesome and depressing time of year.

Decided to watch the first episode of Makai Senki Disgaea to pass a small amount of time.

Turns out it wasn't very good.

Not particularly bad, per se, but just not very good.

The opening theme wasn't that bad though; at the very least more tolerable than the majority of animes I've seen (which usually have terrible themes).

The music also seems to be taken from the game, which was a good enough idea.

You're missing out mai boi!

Skip episodes 14 and 15 of ZZ Gundam, there horrid and serve no purpose to the plot.....at least thats what i'v heard.

I'll still watch them. Hell, I watched all of Inuyasha, remember? Although that statement may have been before your time here.

So far in my experience, videogame animes aren't very good.

I am basing this on the Disgaea anime, and the Star Ocean 2 anime.

Just took a listen to it, i think it's absolutely godawful, but like you said, there are worse.

I dunno, I kinda liked it.

It was reasonably catchy.

Not as catchy as Ode to Laharl from the video game, which I've had stuck in my head for quite some time, but catchy.

Thats quite a history of names.

You'll find that a good amount of the regulars around this place and us old folks have had many aliases in the past years. Me and you are somewhat the same in a way, the views we had on animes and how they have changed.

I think when I signed up I was something stupid like Appleberry.

Then I changed that to -Black_Magic-, because I thought the name Appleberry was terrible.

Then I changed that a few months later because there was already a BlackMagic, Black-Magic and Black_Magic, and I became -Kuro-.

Then I changed that to Kuro when the username lockdown came about.

None of my username changes were particularly intersting.

Well the both of us clearly used to love our shonen jump animes. I swear....it was fate that we met.

It could be. It's probably also the reason why you and Gendo are good chums. He was Coach_Dante, the infamous Inuyasha fanboy of the forums, even bigger than me. And that is saying a lot.

I know, it makes me feel down. I wish she wasn't such a bitch and just lived a normal 20 year old girl life. Had it not been for her Dictator/Tyrant like personality. Char might have continued to love her. Which is what she clearly longed for.

Yes, it is a shame. They were both dominant types in a sense as well. But Char has his priorities straight, he's a smart man.

The character designs are hideous and it makes the lengthy, convoluted plot of the games even more tedious.

I tried watching it and was quite disappointed.

Yeah, the first story to explore it was The Final Countdown. But that's on an American point of view, which of course I still love to see....but the point is, I was always curious as to how the Japanese thought about the war....and this anime is perfect for that.

I'm about nine episodes in now, and though it is stretching the story a bit, it's very nicely done....seeing the mental breakdown of characters. Showing how no training is enough to prepare someone for war. And showing some pretty nice Naval combat.

But yeah, anybody know of any specific Navy based anime? Of any Navy....I know the chances of them documenting the USN are pretty low. I think Black Lagoon does have some Navy stuff in it, though I'm saving that anime for later. I just recently got back into watching anime, and I don't want to eat everything up too fast.

There's a great arc in the first season loosely based on a bit of German Naval history that adds a refreshing change of pace from the relentless, gleeful carnage.

I'm sure that arc still involved a large amount of killing in it.
