How could you possibly stand that?

I'm sure the most I could stand of that would be the manga volumes, or the movies.

Anything else would be overkill.

In other news, I've been making the attempt at drawing in an anime style.

I could give those Japanimators a run for their money.

Fma is a long anime my ass mendou! lol But seriously that series will take forever, "196 tv episodes" I really hope that no more than 30, at most, of those episodes are filler.

From there, you may progress however you like.

K thanks. ^^

Actually now that I think about it I never see Gendo post outside this club and the anime threads in general anymore. >.<

I have a will of iron and too much free time.

I've already endured every episode of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Inuyasha (as well as about half of Ranma 1/2), so choking down another lengthy, repetitive series won't be too much trouble (especially considering I tend to buy inexpensive and short series on the side to keep my sanity in check).

I'm sure the most I could stand of that would be the manga volumes, or the movies.

The TV series takes an extreme commitment to endure, but some of the later episodes are sheerly amazing.

In other news, I've been making the attempt at drawing in an anime style.

Man, I love art like that.

I wish I could draw uber-dark scratchy stuff...I'm too much of a whore for clean linework and realism.

That really isn't a very funny post.

The same exact thing has been done on countless threads.

Unfortunately it appears of the general opinion that my most "epic" series of posts just involved some lolicon.

The thing is, half the time I just set out to draw clean artwork, but then get bored of it and just start scribbling over it.

It makes for a good timewaster.

Since there really isn't much of a running plot (like most sitcom-style shows), there is little of what you could consider "filler" material with the exception of the last two episodes (both clipshows) and a couple of worthless episodes that blatantly re-hash old storylines (but all long-running comedies suffer from that).

Feh, that's bollocks.

You shine when you've got something of value to say, but it seems nobody considers intelligent posts "epic" unless they're riotously funny or involve some kind of silly picture.

There seems to be a reasonable amount of confusion rampant about the actual meaning of "filler".

Just because nothing major happens in an episode of something doesn't mean that it was just there to fill up the series

I find less and less places on this site where there's something of value to say every day.

Much agreed.

Of course you've also got the fact that you can give some illusion of artistic talent with it.

Why take time to draw a picture neatly when you can just go crazy with a pen in a 10th of the time and give the false impression that you've got some crazy goth-like skill?

Exactly, some seemingly uneventful episodes serve a purpose.

My favourite artist who made art which looked really simple to make still remains Mondrian.

Partially because "Broadway Boogie-Woogie" is the greatest title for a painting ever.

Thus showing how ridiculously easy it is to get off topic in a club thread.

A simple drawing of an anime character -> Discussion of lazy artistic styles vs. neat and clean pictures -> Discussion of abstract artists.

Well if art is on the cards right now, then why not relate it to anime, in some attempt to get back on topic.

Anime tends to deviate very little from pre-determined styles, but why not name some of the ones that manage to actually get into a style of their own?

One such one would be Tekkonkinkreet, which actually has a different style to any anime I've seen before (yes it was adapted from a manga, but the animation of it clearly contributes). Also the characters actually manage to look Japanese for once.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (as a manga) had a totally atypical style compared to other series, but the anime versions (with character designs by the guy who designed the cast of the Hokuto no Ken TV series) sadly loses a fair bit of the unique style.

ONE MORE FUCKING EPISODE LEFT? GOD DAMN COME OUT SOON! I'm talking about Gurren Lagann, which ALMOST had me believing "ANOTHER GAINAX ENDING OH FUCK THIS." But then, I kind of determined this was a parody ofNeon Genesis' bogus 'ending.' Ofcourse, it actually works well in Gurren Lagann. They made it seem like a nonpretentious Neon Genesis, but thank god it isn't. It's just Gurren Lagann. Ofcourse, an interesting connection, any bastard that Yoko kisses dies. Which is good; because more sex for me. But seriously, Kamina was epic, fuck you faggots if you think otherwise. He died too damn early IMO, but I guess it wouldn't make Gurren Lagann the same epic level win. One more episode to go in this mech series. I can't wait! Also, BRUCE IRONSTAUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!

You mean there's an actual club hierarchy?

I thought it was just some trivial thing which Wonko makes up as he goes along, to make him feel like he's in charge.

Back to anime.

Black Lagoon so far is quite entertaining, but there's just one thing which has been bugging me: This anime is probably the worst I've seen for being in Japanese.

The fact that everybody in the show, no matter they American, Russian, South American, Thai or whatever, all speak Japanese, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Of course even with English, it's still ridiculous to think that everybody in South East Asia speak one language.

Not only that, but the acting itself is sorta blah in the Japanese version on top of being horrifyingly unrealistic.

The fact that everybody in the show, no matter they American, Russian, South American, Thai or whatever, all speak Japanese, which doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

There is a fair bit of English dialogue in Second Barrage (since the second arc of the manga is mostly in English), but the acting is pretty shitty.

The dub, on the other hand, is amazing.

Of course even with English, it's still ridiculous to think that everybody in South East Asia speak one language.

Yes, but at least there are some nice realistic (and a few stereotypical) accents thrown in to sort of ease the annoyance.

Yeah, when I first told my mom that I watched anime and wanted too buy some DVDS and mangas off line back in 2004 She thought all anime were fighting animes like DBZ and thought their were no animes other than that. She took away my computer for a month plus she let me buy my magas but made ME have too pay for it despite the fact I was 14 at the time. Well if the whole anime has aired in the past and you have a list of subbed episodes right in front of you and your not that busy not really, but I guess if you only have the time for one or two episodes a day or are waiting each week for a new episode to air I guess I sort of see where your coming from. ^^
