DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT, SIR?!

No I don't I just find it surprising someone would perfer the dub over the jap version when you are online a lot and can releitavely easy either buy the jap subbed on like ebay or watch them for free on some video broadcasting site.

And no, I don't have a problem with it its just a little surprising to me.

Oh for God's sake, I'VE FUCKING TOLD YOU ALREADY!

No discussion of piracy in the fucking club, eBay's subbed discs are bootlegs and illegally uploaded episodes on video sites are a no-no here.

Why does he watch his anime dubbed? Same reason I do, we like to support the legit editions available in our country.

k, k sorry. ^^ Some of the dubs are good, some absoulatly suck but a lot of them are alright. Like the rurouni kenshin or yu yu hakashow dubs

Sorry 'bout the piracy talking.

Also..... hmmmm..... you have watched tons and tons of animes right? Theres no way theres a dub for ever anime you watch! Plus even if you do watch a few in like jap that still leaves A LOT of dubbed animes.....I mean, I seriously doubt every single one of those animes can be seen on like cartoon network or anything.

There isn't, I own several sub-only discs (Urusei Yatsura, Kashimashi, etc)

Plus even if you do watch a few in like jap that still leaves A LOT of dubbed animes.....I mean, I seriously doubt every single one of those animes can be seen on like cartoon network or anything.

So? Just because mainstream TV doesn't have them won't keep me from buying or renting DVDs (not to mention Canadian TV has different anime lineups from America).

Unlike most faggots who think subs are always the way to go, i like to hear my favorite animes in a language that i can understand. Not to mention there are times when the dub is actually better then the sub( Cowboy Bebop and from what i heard from others Black Lagoon.)

I don't think subs are always the way to go, in fact I PERFER dubs if I can find them, but if I can't find the dubbed version, it doesn't have one or it is one of the very few animes out there with a really suckie dub I watch the Jap instead.

Also I said sorry about the piracy.

True, true. And I didn't know canada had a lot of anime on tv, I really didn't.

But man, it surprises me how almost every person I know who watches anime PERFERS the jap, but you guys who have easily seen the MOST perfer the dub, I find it a bit funny too be honest. ^^

I myself tend to prefer to watch the subbed versions, because it ever so slightly helps me with my Japanese studies.

The problem being: If the language is really informal (which it very often is), I can't understand it at all, and thus it is no help.

It's quite difficult.

You have to know around 2,000 kanji to be considered somewhat fluent, and I only know around 200.

But at my school, I had the opportunity to learn either French or Japanese as a language, and I took both for my first year, but then got bored of French and found Japanese more interesting.

The good thing about it is that while it's hard as a language, it's easy as a subject, and thus I'm consistently getting high marks in it.

Glad i live in the northern eastern part of America since in places like California it's required to learn Spanish, i would hate being forced to learn a language.

I myself find learning languages to be quite interesting.

Yeah. Noctroler is another and Tink13 is actually the leader but is currently MIA on MySpace. Dr. H and if I remember correctly ShadowGodX is one or was once one.

As for the Subs VS Dubs I prefer muh subs because of obvious reasons I won't state why. Plus the OG VAs sound a lot better. I mean, have you actually LISTENED to Four Murasame's sub and dub voice. God, the english dub makes me want to jam shards of glass into my ears to stop the horrible sound. Same with the GaoGaiGar dub. It's GAOGAIGAR NOT GAOGAIGEEEEEEEEEEEEEER for fucks sake. Yugi Motos voice as the Chief of GGG? You've GOT to be fucking kidding me. I can rant for literally DAYS about the superiority of subs to dubs for the most part but I try and stick with the 'To each his/her own' thing.

I tried learning Japanese a few years ago and was unable to retain anything I learned plus, given my geographical location, I have no practical use for it.

I am fluent in French, though, and used to have decent Portugese as well (enough to order pizza, I kid you not).

The only geographical location you could be in that would mean you'd have use for it would be Japan.

Unless you tried to get a job translating things.

Or if you really wanted to watch a show/movie/play a game/etc. but nobody else wanted to translate it.

The only real reason I do it is because it's easy credits and I'm quite near the top of my class for it, and because it is a reasonably interesting class, not because I forsee any practical use..

Not true, there are some areas of the country with a massive Japanese population (especially in cities with large universities), thus it would be at least somewhat useful in relation to communication with others and getting service in some restaurants and stores.

Or if you really wanted to watch a show/movie/play a game/etc. but nobody else wanted to translate it.

Which is what a few of my more weeaboo-ish friends do, although only one of them is even moderately close to fluency.

I just don't think I can take another language course, the six years of French and year of Portugese were enough for me.

I wish I remembered half the french verbs I learned. All I know is that a lot of infinitives ended in -er. I even remember how to conjugate them. I wish that I could put it to good use before I forgot. You'd think French would have a good use in southern Louisiana.

Considering English is a compulsory subject in Japan, you can assume that they'd largely have somewhat of a grasp on it.

Well I've still got another year of it before I leave school, perhaps by then I'd be able to do just that.

I was wondering - Ya' know how we have fansubbing groups/anime dubs over here, right?
Does Japan do the same for our toons?

Ya' know, like Avatar having a Japenese dub? Or a group subtitling several cartoons?
I've always wondered. :O

Finished the first season of Black Lagoon.

With the addition of more ridiculous superhuman characters (which all seem to be female), it has gotten quite entertaining.

You can't exactly call it intelligent viewing, but it's still entertaining.

Also, Roberta was a pretty awesome 'villain'.

Its still nice too have, what if your walking the streets of a big city and this japaneese person comes up to injured and bloody like fuck and he only speaks japaneese? Do you honestly believe that the hospitial and Police station actually speak japaneese? Sure one or two of the doctors, nurses or police men MIGHT but other than that....

You know I have been wondering the same for ages, I think are cartoons are stupid in their eyes their fore they only show a handful or so of them, but they don't sub them, they have their own dub. But I suppose their is probably a place online or in the world somewhere where you could just find the english dub with japaneese subtitles.

Talk about me like I'm not here and never coming back too.

I quickly scanned over what I missed. I saw lots of talk about shitty anime, fighting, and a mod post or two. The reason I made the previously mentioned club hierarchy is so that mods can leave this place alone.

Just more technology, and people are far more polite.

What did you do there?

I went to school, learnt Japanese, and stayed with a Japanese family.

The majority of the characters are male, but the more "super" individuals tend to be female, save the boss of the triads, and to a lesser extent Dutch.

MINOR SPOILERS
I've watched 325 episodes in Japanese, and I really like the voices. Luffy's badass in the Japanese version. I also like the way Sanji lights his cigarette before a fight. The 4kids dub really took away the impact of the characters. Instead of being serious, every character in the show tries to crack unfunny jokes. They even fucked up the part where Luffy said something cool before using his foot to crash Arlong's house. AND THOSE STUPID FUCKING NOISES DUB LUFFY MAKES! Wait until Franky joins the crew.
