Actually yes the Dot. Hack series and games was rather strange and confusing.

I stopped enjoying the first four games after the third one.

Actually I am almost done with the .Hack//GU series Im currently awaiting the conclusion. I must say that the .Hack//GU series might be the best of the games from .Hack but that is only my opinion

But that's not what an MMORPG anime is. When I first heard of it, I thought that it was just going to be them fighting boss monsters and looking for treasures in dungeons. Turned out to be a lot deeper then that,
