As far as I could tell it took me a reasonable amount to get into it, and I only watched those because it slightly intrigued me by being so dull, and because I had nothing else to do.

But I still find it quite the hilarity as to how much most of the members in this club seem to hate that series.

Or at least the most vocal of the members.

"Oh god no Lucky Star is like the worst series ever if you like it I will hate you till the end of time and will burn your house down >: ( >: ( >: (" is the general impression I get by the comments about it.

Probably none.

I endured the first five, plus partial viewings of the more recent episodes and laughed maybe once.

It's too dull and all the Haruhi references get agitating. On the positive side, the animation is great and the voicecast is decent.

Now for something completely different: My spending habits today.

Bought Nana volume 6 by Ai Yazawa. WHAT A SHOCK. I now have all the currently released volumes of this epic manga series (atleast according to my Chapters). So, yeah. NOW MY ANIME LIFE DOESN'T HAVE ANY MEANING ANYMORE FOR ANOTHER 1 MONTH!

I also managed to to obtain a copy of Neon Genesis Evangelion volume 10 by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. . .and GAINAX (D:). Basically, impulse buy that is well worth the $12.50 I spent on it. Though, I'm not that far ahead in the anime series, because I haven't bothered to watch past episode 10 or so. But, I like this manga for the simple reason that Viz actually didn't pussy out, and actually used the additives "-Kun" and "-Chan."

That is all for now.

It gets irritating when people try to be cool like that.

The first five were the most boring ones.

It got better after the star of it, like it was somehow getting its footing or something.

Besides, I find the series more interesting than funny anyway.

It's too dull and all the Haruhi references get agitating.

There's only a few blatant Haruhi references within the show, the others are just say a picture on Konatas wall, or a book she's reading.

Or like a sign or something.

Then again, there is the same voice actor as Nagato playing Nagato, basically (and in the cosplay cafe episode, was playing Nagato exactly).

But I still enjoy the show.

And I like how it's short (or will be anyway), so there's no great undertaking.

On the positive side, the animation is great and the voicecast is decent.

I was quite impressed with the animation of a show that could almost be done using stills.

Especially in that first scene with the anime shop people.

I always watch before judging something.

I was like 70 episodes in when I realized how much I despised Naruto.

I enjoyed the first chunk of the show, then it got boring, then it go bad, then it got horrible.

Since watching the initial 70 episodes, I've only had to endure it a handful more times (due to friends forcing me to watch it).

It's too dull and all the Haruhi references get agitating.

That's still completely and totally obnoxious.

I'm probably just way too jaded by Haruhi's sudden popularity over here and all the viral marketing on the internet.

That scene was pretty fucking cool, it looked great and was the one laugh I had watching the show.

But I don't particularly go around proclaiming how shit it is.

Or at least doesn't get better.

You get used to it.

Half the time they have to put it in anyway, considering they shoved all the stuff in Konata's room, so they have to keep it there.

Not enough to hate a show over.

That scene was pretty fucking cool, it looked great and was the one laugh I had watching the show.

Well those scenes are like the only ones that clearly openly try to be funny.

The rest of it seems to be like... Trying to be humourous in a way that could actually occur in real life I guess.

Except some of the Lucky Channel segments I suppose.

But why am I even saying this?

Anime club members are so set on their own opinions that it's like trying to argue that blue was red with a blind man.

Oh trust me, it gets far worse.

I've only seen about ten or twelve episodes of the filler arcs that eat up like 100+ episode of the show, and I utterly despised them.

Not enough to hate a show over.

Do note that was not my only reason, I'm not that petty.

The rest of it seems to be like... Trying to be humourous in a way that could actually occur in real life I guess.

I think the opposite, real-life is never, ever that boring or unfunny.

I tend to find things that try to be realistically funny fail, the only examples of the genre I truly love being Clerks and Seinfeld (which both lose their realism fairly early on due to some more outrageous sequences, which only add to the humor).

Anime club members are so set on their own opinions that it's like trying to argue that blue was red with a blind man.

Okay, now you're being pretty unrealistic and petty.

Set on my opinions or not, at least I can make an effort to be polite and logical about my criticisms when needed. Not to mention I am capable of conceding defeat and agreeing with an opponent's valid points.

Oh, no.

Of course not.

But "references" seems to be your main reason cited as to why you utterly despise the show to its core.

I think the opposite, real-life is never, ever that boring or unfunny.

That's most likely only what you think.

In real life you laugh more when someone's saying something, as opposed to when someone on television is saying it, or you're reading it. Unless it concerns someone you know, because when things happen close to home you can relate and find them more hilarious.

Humour is screwy like that.

I still find the show interesting due to the information it gives on Japanese culture and all that.

Okay, now you're being pretty unrealistic and petty.

I was exaggerating.

Set on my opinions or not, at least I can make an effort to be polite and logical about my criticisms when needed. Not to mention I am capable of conceding defeat and agreeing with an opponent's valid points.

The thing is you CAN make an effort to be polite about your criticisms, but when things like "You like ____? Go die in a fire" and such appear next to your name on the forums often enough, that point becomes less valid.

Humour is screwy like that.

Point taken.

I still find the show interesting due to the information it gives on Japanese culture and all that.

Being an individual concerned more with immediate gratification and amusement than learning anything from my comedy television programs, I don't really see the appeal in that part of the show.

I could just as easily indulge in a serious culture study (like a guidebook or someone's travelogue) whilst watching Seinfeld to get my fix of lulz and cultural education.

The thing is you CAN make an effort to be polite about your criticisms, but when things like "You like ____? Go die in a fire" and such appear next to your name on the forums often enough, that point becomes less valid.

Intellect isn't always needed to win an argument, not to mention the sheer lack of seriousness in the vast majority of my posts.

Do I actually wish those people dead? Hell no, but the hyperbole makes the opinion bolder and slightly more amusing as opposed to me just regurgitating the same massive paragraph worth of my logical opinion every time I see some praise something I find unworthy the applause. I don't think average Joe 13-year-old really cares about my actual motivation or reasoning for not liking Naruto when chances are he'll just reply with something like "STFU FAGIT" or "NARUTO IS TEH AWESOMEZ, UR LIK DUM N SHIT".

A good percentage of what I post is for the personal amusement of myself and my friends anyway, not to actually be right about anything or to seem smart.

So... It's the sort of show that could benefit with a total of 1/10th of its episodes then?

I could just as easily indulge in a serious culture study (like a guidebook or someone's travelogue) whilst watching Seinfeld to get my fix of lulz and cultural education.

That would require way too much attention.

By the way, in Seinfeld why is it that Seinfeld is by far the worst character?

The other characters are far superior.

I suppose it's like Scrubs or something, but that's probably because Zach Braff's a twat.

Other stuff with Samurai in the title

In Claymore they use...Claymores, so that really doesn't fit. There is also Peacemaker, it is about the Shinsengumi, which just scream Samurai!

To be honest, that makes it sound lamer than ever.

It kind of does to put it that way, but probably because it was oversimplified. Basically the Claymores are just half human/half demons who are constantly fighting a loosing battle against their demon side. Eventually they will go over their limit and Awaken...and become strong demons. However, a few Claymores have been able to go over their limit, but return to normal, making them more powerful than before. Also, these Awakened One have started to form groups, in order to fight against other Awakened Ones. And now Raki, the main character's friend, has unknowingly joined up with the same Awakened One that killed Clare's first friend/savior.

The half demon thing has been done plenty, but at least in Claymore they ALL know that eventually they are going to loose their humanity, but are still forced to tap into the demonic power to beat the enemy.

Things have become more complicated now, since even though 24 Claymores have been grouped together to fight the Awakened Ones, they know that they have no chance to win. The group that controls the Claymores is just wasting time and also targeting specific Claymores for death, mainly those who have Awakened, but somehow returned to normal.

Also! Frequently you feel a good ole' tentacle rape is about to happen.

Plot sounds generic.

Yeah....I said the half demon thing has been done plenty.

And yes, the show is doing anything new, but that really doesn't change whether a show is good or not.

Bounty Hunters, School Life, Inner Demon, Harem, Situational Comedies...all have been done before, but that doesn't stop some of those shows from being good.

Well, I'm done talking about Claymore and its plot. We've already talked about it before. This club is repeating itself way to fucking much. It's starting to get really old and annoying.

Bounty Hunters,

Bounty Hunters doesn't sound like a genre of anime which has been extorted too much.

School Life,

School is something that can encompass an incredibly wide array of plots.

Inner Demon,

Inner demon sorts of things tend to repeat each other a reasonable amount.

Harem,

Not a genre that I am particularly familiar with.

Situational Comedies...

Sitcoms tend to suck anyway.

Though I can't think of any particular sitcoms in anime at the moment, they all seem to be on a quest, or at least moving through life...

In very few circumstances.

For an anime to work when it has been done before it has to have some great plotlines or characters to outweigh the genericy.

And how many anime's try to do that?

Wouldn't be the first one.
