I am not a manga/anime specialist, but Naruto is certainly the best series I've known so far. It has the emotional intensity of romance, while combining actions and moral code of friendship and essential relationship issues. Lots of characters have deep and unique personalities, and make me want to compare Masashi Kishimoto to Shakespeare for his understanding of human psychology.

The world of Naruto itself is an imaginary one amalgamating a lost ideal traditional Japanese world of ninja (and samurai), with strict moral codes and feudal wars, with elements of modernity such as television and cup ramens. There are no cars or concrete roads, no sign of Westernization or contact to the outside world, even though the technology and school system are unmistakably contemporary. Houses and ninja techniques are purely imaginary, which adds charm to the atmosphere.

Definitely worth a watching/reading.

amiright?

I'm not sure how much of the series you've read or how far you read into it but that is hardly the case. Read it again and from the beginning.

BUT someone i once met later on claimed berserk the anime to be ' the greatest anime of all' that's a rough statement to make ,so i wonder ? does anyone have confirmation of this greatness ?

It's not really. It is a great anime but was cut short one episode [25 total] due to lack of funding. The anime leaves SO MUCH out from the manga though which does hurt it. But I must say that someone you met knows his series.

Haha God damn that was brilliant. If I was a sucker I would've bought into that statement.

Still never got around to watching all that animu...

I also badly need to catch up on Lupin the 3rd this weekend, since E3 coverage taking up the timeslot on G4 and my own inattentiveness have caused me to miss about 9 episodes...

Bastardman you need to catch up now. Don't be missin out on dat Lupins. Also if you do have some spare money buy the Worlds Most Wanted - Monkey Punch manga of the series. Dangerously funny and awesome to boot.

Zenigata - "Ok, then. Where are Jigen and Goemon - The nuts to your dick?"

Lupin - "You thinks she's ready?"
Jigen -"I taught her the gun."
Goemon -"I taught her the sword."
Both - "What else does she need to know?"
Lupin - "SEX! She needs to learn how to please a man!"

Oh man that manga had me rolling.

Read it years ago, considered buying it recently.

Best line ever.

Well we have recently been talking about Claymore and Berserk, and those would feel that need. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure can be bloody, and is definitely strange. It has an Orangutan in a captain's uniform! That's just crazy.

There are also some movies that would fit, like Baoh, but you are looking for a series.

bloody.....um...Blood Reign: Curse of the Yoma, Hellsing, Ninja Scroll, Berserk, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal, BAOH, Battle Angel, Blood: the Last Vampire, Biohunter, Crying Freeman, Gantz, Samurai Champloo, Vampire Hunter D, Wicked City....I guess that's enough.

for strangeness, Akira, Dead Leaves, Memories, and Neo Tokyo. They are all very good, too. There's also FLCL.

Lupin III is an excelent series. I actually reccomend watching it dubbed even though it's completely different than the original dialogue. It's funny.

FLCL sort've loses its appeal the second time you watch it.

The first time you go by with little understanding and you've just got this whacked out series.

The second time you just figure out the meaning of what it's trying to be about, if you haven't already.

After that you've got nothing.

Though it does have a pretty simple plot/meaning, so it probably doesn't even need the second time round, except for just reinforcing.

No matter how many times I see FLCL, I never get bored. Every time I find something new I never noticed when i first watched it. It still amazes me that a series can bring so much with very few episodes.

I want Adult Swim to show Outlaw Star and Reboot. They have the perfect time slot for it...the 2 Inuyasha episode time slot!

No way, Inuyasha isn't my favorite Anime and I do wish they put other things in that time slot but still, Inuyasha should stay on there until they bring back Lupin the 3rd and Case Closed. I still remember they had a commercial for them....Old School Anime. If only they would bring them back.
