No, those little places are still abundant.

Some have actually since become chain stores, but still retain the low prices and good stock. Gamezilla (import toys and DVDs), The Last Gamestore (manga and Kubricks) and Strange Adventures (damn near everything) being the best examples here.

I take it that despite its size, there is a reasonably sized market for these kind of goods no less.

Yep, very high otaku population on this island.

Was it an import, or a localised release?

Localized release.

I see. So I guess I would not see any big changes if I were to visit Canada again (only to be arrested for carrying a Gerber toolset in my pocket for travelling purposes or when customs go through my books).

Localized release.

Then there really is something wrong.

Does the DVDs resemble anything like the DVD Quality you expect from a Japanese product (though highly unlikely)?

Not really. I did it in a way that pissed off the whole club, and then flame war'd them into submission. The club now has a Stockholm Syndrome thing going on. No, that's not really the right condition for it. I've just been doing this for so long now, they listen to me. I honestly don't know why I haven't been overthrown by now, and I don't know why people do what I say.

I've abandoned leadership a lot of times. Sometimes I would appoint a successor or a stand-in, other times I would merely say fuck it, but always when I come back I meet with no resistance to my taking back leadership.

Seriously, you people confuse me.

Now that you mention it, the past leader(s) were not the biggest fans of the culture (compared to some of the other members) either.

Well, there always is the hierarchy system, which can be further enforced if we get a private board functioning no less.

I can't understand that. Can we please assume I'm a high school drop-out who joined the military and spends his weekends drinking himself senseless?

Well, there always is the hierarchy system, which can be further enforced if we get a private board functioning no less.

The hierarchy came about because of the first private board. Which I destroyed in my overthrowing.

Continuing on my "I'm confused" train of thought, I also don't know why I feel compelled to always be in charge here. I'm not the best person for the job, although I feel that I have been improving. It's been a while since I've gone on like this. I'd always fill my "thought for the moment" thread with late night...well, in my high school days we called it Goth, the current fad seems to be to call it Emo. For some reason night always makes me post depressed things. I despise how much the word emo is thrown about these days. The moment you have a bad day, suddenly you're "emo." The moment something is slightly good it's "epic."

New plan, if you weren't on the internet in 1999, you're only allowed access for one hour out of the day. That's how things would be if I ruled the world. Oh, and anyone caught having myspace, facebook, or any site along those lines is immediately shot. Same for any of the *Chan's. I would like to apologize to LLStarks for the way I have treated him these past few years. I have been...unkind.

This does not mean I like him, or will ever give him any power within what is now my club. I understand his viewpoint is all. He made this club, it is his baby. I also feel the same way, having played such a large part in shaping it into what it is today. For good or bad.

I mean that the past leaders were not chosen because of their general knowledge of Anime/Manga in general.

The hierarchy came about because of the first private board. Which I destroyed in my overthrowing.

I have spotted several "Newgrounds Anime Club" Forums outside Newgrounds and not the ones you have made in the past. Maybe those were the 'remains' you refer to?

I'm not the best person for the job, although I feel that I have been improving. It's been a while since I've gone on like this.

Leadership is a big responsibility, something I have learnt the hard way during the first year of university. But I do not believe that a full group of 'equal' individuals will work as there has to be a coordinator to make sure things go as planned and that the group as a whole does not go astray.

I also feel the same way, having played such a large part in shaping it into what it is today. For good or bad.

I have seen that the introduction of Authority Figures to help keep order you enforce is a good idea, in terms of preventing this club from being hampered by unwanted members and preventing mass shitstorms.

I'm no 'perfect leader' myself, since I have released excessive hell in the past though that was just the peak of the moment when I am plain irritated at events going on both in my studies and online alike. But because I have grown to like this club despite its limited imagery and functionality, I would not mind stepping up to the challenge to change things for the better much like why I took the Authority Figure role you have entrusted me with.

Of course, if things do not go as planned, it is only logical and reasonable to pass down the role to someone else more responsible than I am.

God knows I wasn't.

There's been a few. Some died, some got deleted. One got destroyed. Some got hacked.

But I do not believe that a full group of 'equal' individuals will work as there has to be a coordinator to make sure things go as planned and that the group as a whole does not go astray.

Communism does not work.

I have seen that the introduction of Authority Figures to help keep order you enforce is a good idea, in terms of preventing this club from being hampered by unwanted members and preventing mass shitstorms.

Tink started that, I nearly killed it. Appointing you and Gendo was my attempt to revive it, since all the previous authority figures were inactive. I also give you more power these days.

I'm no 'perfect leader' myself, since I have released excessive hell in the past though that was just the peak of the moment when I am plain irritated at events going on both in my studies and online alike.

I have done much, much worse.

But because I have grown to like this club despite its limited imagery and functionality,

Limited how? Explain, and I will try to improve. Please not anything Chan related will wither up and die like a plucked flower left in the sun.

I would not mind stepping up to the challenge to change things for the better much like why I took the Authority Figure role you have entrusted me with.

You have done well, and I expect you to continue to do so.

Of course, if things do not go as planned, it is only logical and reasonable to pass down the role to someone else more responsible than I am.

I already said, I feel compelled to be in charge here, and I know I'm not the best for this. That's why I'm trying to move into more of a figurehead position.

I mean in the sense that having a single thread on NG to carry every single subject, concept and discussion is a bit too much unlike when we had an offsite BBS.

It may seem sufficient for now, but now that the NG Anime Collab has their eye(s) on us, it might be effective to restart the idea of having a separate board for further discussions.

You have done well, and I expect you to continue to do so.

Thank you.

Flash Collab stuff could be in another forum...but why not just have Anime Club members just go talk in their club? I haven't use any other forums outside NG, and I don't plan to anytime soon. This place gives me about the right amount of anime discussion per day that I like.

And Wonko...what's with the emotions and apologizing and what not? Did you grow some ovaries? Where all emotions come from, besides manly tears.

I have no desire to lead on the internet, which is probably how many of the other Anime Club members feel, so a single leader will have plenty to lead.

And Mythbusters is doing an interesting myth: A civil war man was shot through his sperm pouch and the bullet hit a lady in her baby maker and she got pregnant.

And! That irrepsonable Captain Tylor has an OVA...so will you be getting that too Wonko?

Also, watched my DVDs today. Kashimashi was fucking epic (bit heavy on the melodrama compared to the anime, but Sora Hitoshi's voice was just like I imagined it would be) and The Melancholy's dub isn't as bad as the trailers made it seem (Yuki and Haruhi arw awful, but Kyon is excellent and the rest of the cast is at least passable).

Ugh, that trailer made me want to kill myself. Obviously Crispen Freeman isn't bad as Kyon because he's fucking Dracula. But still, Kyon? ROFL. Also, YOU CAN'T GIVE A ROLL TO A CHARACTER THAT IS BASICALLY EMOTIONLESS, WHEN THE ACTUAL VOICE ACTRESS IS BETTER AT SLUTTY ROLES.

I will possibly never sit through a dub of the Melancholy because Aya Hirano is the ONLY person I recognize as Haruhi.

Nope, sorry. But go a head and buy it anyways seeing how that's not too bad of a price IMO. It's what I do when I come across used DVDs of live action series or series/movie series in general.

Purchase list time

Initial D - Live action movie
Rozen Maiden Vol. 1 DVD SE - Velvet collectors case
SE Eureka 7 Vol 7 DVD - Includes OST II, Vol. 7 DVD, Vol. 5 manga and a large size shirt with what I'm assuming the series name in kanji on the front and a sky fish on the back. B)
Fullmetal Alchemist Vol 12
Monster [manga] Vol 1 & 2
Peacemaker Kurogane [manga] Vol 1
Mushishi [manga] Vol. 1
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Special Edition
Afro Samurai complete SE

Along with Castle Shikigami II and Gundam: Journey to Jaburo for the PS2, a mountain of CDs half composed of either the Smashing Pumpkins or Frank Zappa, it's been pretty good on my random off days. I guess.

Off topic though, is it good to sleep for more than thirty hours at a time?

No, it is not. The human body is designed for 6-10 hours of sleep at one period of time. More or less disturbs the sleep cycle in your brain and affects things.
