I don't think they plan on translating any of the other Jojo stories, sadly.

Is that so? That's too bad since that would be their one chance of expanding on what was merely known as a meme outside Japan (or the majority of Asia anyway).

Why, just because the series they are translating are raking in poor amounts of cash?

Speaking of which, confirmed rumors are spreading from /M/ that Media-Blasters is cancelling Hot Blood and Courage. This is not how dubbing should be done, damn it. Even if it does not par with the original, I still want to see how foreign countries can dub to clean the branding known as "Dubs".

Man, damn my expensive tastes...

It'll cost me $464 to complete Ranma 1/2, on top of $50 for NGE: Angelic Days, $37.50 for Read or Dream (which I should get off my ass and finish already, seeing as it's the one I need the least amount of volumes ot complete), $150 for JJBA and somewhere in the range of $147 to dust off Urusei Yatsura. Not to mention Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, Evangelion, etc.

Just to finish the manga I want most will cost me about $848.50, fortunately, this won't be an issue of lack of funds as much as time-comsuming.

Instead of wasting money on stuff I don't really need (random eccentricities, DVDs, etc), I'll make a point of trying to order at least two books a week. Save DVDs and such for holidays or when I've got extra cash (and seeing as I only really want to get the first volume of Haruhi and maybe a wee bit of Ranma 1/2, DVDs are far from first priority at the moment).

Well, most of the series is available in French, which I am fluent in, so if I get hooked, I can always buy those.

Why, just because the series they are translating are raking in poor amounts of cash?

Doubt that'd be the reason, because Viz rules English manga with an iron fist. They've got all of the major cash-cows (Naruto, FMA, Inuyasha) licensed as well as fan faves (Drifting Classroom, Vagabond, Monster).

Awful fuckers.

Well.
If you see how much they sell old magazines and videos in Mandarake, you will shit bricks. And that is even if you have ignored the cels and signed drawings in front of their stores.

Yes, but chances are that it would be a natural business move to 'kill off' any series with little to no market potential within their reach, would they not?

True, but still, WHY DIDN'T GINTAMA CATCH ON?! IT WAS SO GOOD!!!

I would describe Mandarake more, but its mere winnage might break something in the process.

So to counter it; here's some less good things about it.

Unlike Melon Books, Comic Shock and Gamers (all of which I have a Point Card or membership for), Mandarake does not have any special promotions such as Memberships or Discount Cards asides from their services for buying second hand books, toys, games and so on.

I have been told by a friend to read/watch it, but I am already behind on many other series such as Code Geass and Kotetsushin Jeeg.

Oh, and there is QUALITY, even in GGG.

Meh, that's not much of a problem IMO.

I love stores that accept second-hand stuff, my friend Adam runs a store that actually values trades and such over cold hard cash (that's where I got most of my Rumiko Takahashi stuff) and Digger's Comics (now sadly gone due to lack of customers other than me and my friends) used to offer fairly large sums (anywhere from $5-100) for old comics and rare cards (TCG and sports).

I have been told by a friend to read/watch it, but I am already behind on many other series such as Code Geass and Kotetsushin Jeeg.

Same here, the only reason I actually got a chance to read it was due to the serialization.

So Haro was the special Digimon thing just a bunch of fillers or were they actually movies?

Why does it really matter?

From what you wrote, most seem canonically accurate and contain some level of plot progression, so I'd say they'd count as actual movies.

KK. Yah that would make sense. Since "Revenge of Diaboramon" had the number 2 next to it.

Haro mah boooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii there is QUALITY in EVERY series.

Especially Naruto.... and Bleach. Oh God the QUALITY is ASTOUNDING! D;

Regardless, GGG and GGGFINAL are two of the best series I've ever seen. Fall short of G Gundam and Berserk by a bit but phenominal none the less.

Now I'm currently listening to Cell's Theme from Dragonball Z. Hate the series or like/love it, I still love the series.

My computer went retard on me and gives me constant problems everytime it gets to working right.

So it's been keeping me out of the loop on most things, Death Note and Bleach especially. I'd like to get around to finishing Higurashi sometime soon too.

Whoa, Kisuke's back, sweet.

Also, I tried a wee bit of Higurashi the other day, and I've got to say it's a bit much for me. My precious little eyes can only take so much, murderous lolis is pushing it.

The violence is too unflinching for me, maybe I'll give it a serious try sometime other than at three in the morning.

Higurashi is okay, I watched a reasonable few episodes of it.

I'm not bothered by violence in any form of media, if it's not real.

I usually am not bothered by it either, but some things seem to just get in my head and freak the fuck out.

I can take gore flicks no problem (Ichi The Killer was nothing, esecially compared to the manga, and the Saw films weren't the least bit stomach-turning) and I'm even pretty jaded towards real violence, but after Elfen Lied, it seems a lot of anime violence is starting to creep me out.

I'd say it's the combination of cutesy character designs and horrid bloodshed that gets to me.

Try actually watching Higurashi, it can be utterly horrific at times.

Sometimes adorable characters and graphic violence can be a right laugh (Club-To-Death Angel Dokuro-chan), but Higurashi presents all of it's brutality in a fun-free, realistic manner.

If you're talking about Dokuro-chan, no, that's not the case.

The violence is over-the-top ridiculous and played intentionally for laughs.

Higurashi, on the other hand, takes the subject of murder quite seriously, and the violence is never funny, ever.

*FUCKLOAD OF SPOILERS!*
Loads of graphically detailed deaths (baseball bat bludgeonings, self-mutilations, stabbings, disemboweling, torture, etc.)

I didn't have the sound on so I couldn't tell if the lady was laughing at the end. Was she? Because I couldn't exactly tell. If she was then that makes it look stupid to me. Plus that isn't all that bad. I need a better, more gory example. Because if that ranks as really bad, then nothing on that show would affect me at all. Maybe a little shiver, but that's just natural. Creepy things make you shiver. Not generally out of fear, just that, well, you just witnessed a good-looking blue-haired babe stab herself repeatedly in the head with a long knife.

Visualizations are always good to get points across. Higurashi looks like it might be a bit less hard than Elfen Lied..cus you know the characters are insane and that some will die in Higurashi, but in Elfen I kept thinking that any character near Lucy was about to get shredded.

I don;t feel like using Photoshop, so that is why my pics recently have been of lower quality.

So is Elfen Lied supposed to be funny? Is that why the blood looks like wine? And that pic doesn't affect me AT ALL. The only pic I've seen so far that has creeped the freak outta me is the one with the naked chick all eaten like that with her insides hanging out. Mainly because I was eating at the time.
