I'm not sure if I should join this club. I've barely got enough spare time for the things I want to do. But, I love mahou shoujo anime, and I was considering starting a crew for that, but I lurked awhile and found that azngirl245 had already tried a similar thing, and her idea was shot down (rather hostily, I might add). So, to avoid persecution, I posted an inquiry in this thread.

I like your style.

Well, according to the Club Rules, you would lose your postion as a member if you are inactive for over two months without prior warning of some kind.

But nonetheless, you seem like a welcome member so far. Just post your top ten Anime (Fauxnime does not count), and your character to represent yourself with. Character must not be already chosen and must be of the same gender as you are.

GENIUS!

That would have made me love Evangelion.

I really can't wait to finish Angelic Days, for Gendo becomes the main character in the last two volumes. I wonder what sort of fantastic adventures in social awkwardness Young Gendo gets to go on....

That's why I hated Evangelion.

It started out with loads of action, fanservice and vulgar humor, and it ended with a huge minfuck.

I do not like the way it is executed though. They sacrificed too much of the light-hearted humour for the sake of shoving as much philosophy into the show. It's a bad move.

wall of blurb

...?
Can you repeat that with actual grammar asides from only one full-stop at the end?

Yes, I loved when the lecherous humor came to the forefront. It held my attention much more than any of the "seven eyes of God" and other such bullcrap.

Yeah, it was bit hard to find the meaning behind the rambling structure.

If the animation even had some good humour balanced out near the end and gone with the Alpha 3 ending I typed up, it would have deserved the title of Epic Level Anime.

Very agreed. If there were still lulz (especially all the naughty lulz involving Rei in the first few epsiodes) at the end, and EoE had been like Alpha 3, I would have to love it.

Sadly, we got the polar opposite. So I only like a few episodes and the manga.

So Adult Swim is starting Blood+ tonight...I didn't here anything about that...eh.

I watched all of Afro Samurai today. I like it. There are plenty who think it is just a show that is atempting to be "japanesey" and those who don't like the "black" talk, but I thought the whole thing was good. They could easily have made it into an entire series...though the quality would have been lower since they couldn't afford a whole series of episodes. It is basically like the last episodes of a show like Trigun, or Grenadier (Trigun w/ less character development, but with bigger boobs and bullets in the clevage).

This computer is too slow for me to quote everyone I want, so you get individual messages.

Dr Hyaku: I'm on the highest damn horse ever. That horse is so damn high it'd have to be lying down to even try to fuck me in the ass. I know there was a lot of spam while I was leading, I was just happy to see the club gaining pages and members again, so I let it ride for a little. Once I left, there was an increase in the spam.

Gendo and Haro: Why do you two always attack the same guy at the same time? Surely one authority figure should be enough, but you two always act as a duo. So which one is Pantsman and which is Briefsboy?

Akatsuki: I encourage your trying to help out other members, it was how I used to choose authority figures. Also, you don't sound as stupid when you do it.

I personally enjoyed Evangelion a great deal. It made you think. More anime should make people think.

So the retcon will only exist in the form of the games huh?

Unless Gainax actually doesn't go stock-footage-happy with the New Evangelion Movie to premiere September 2007, we might be able to hope for a retconned version which replaces the last two episodes and uses those psychological content in a more balanced way.

Sadly, we got the polar opposite.

Well, they are the ones who released the last episode of a six-episode OVA in greyscale (minus the last few seconds near the end).

At 3/6/07 07:51 PM, MrTrivia wrote: Guess what? I found out recently that there's an Inuyasha game for the Nintendo DS (the system I purchased less than two weeks ago). Inuyasha: Secret of the Divine Jewel came out on January 23, 2007 in the US. X-Play only gave it a 3 out of 5, pretty much calling it a run of the mill RPG, but I'm still going to look into it.

I bought "Inuyasha: Secret of the Divine Jewel" for about $30 at EB Games on Friday, so I'll give you my first impressions of it:
The control scheme is a little weird - It seems everything except running can be done on the touch screen, so the buttons feel like a supplementary control system.
There are a lot of random encounters, and they often repeat. I find myself fighting the same group of enemies on a regular basis, especially when I have to backtrack.
When you're in an area such as a labyrinth, there is no map on the screen so it's not hard to get lost. That hasn't been a problem for me yet, but I'm probably no farther than 10% through the game.
Each character has a variety of abilities from the anime, but I think Sango got the short end of the stick; Everyone else has at least three skills (special moves) starting out, and all she's got is the Hiraikotsu. She has two regular attacks though (close combat with her sword and ranged attack with the Hiraikotsu), so that starts to make up for it. Everyone but Kagome and possibly Miroku has a skill for attacking groups. I haven't tried out his Kazaana because it takes all the energy he's got. And of course, Inuyasha is the overall leader in bad-assery with 1000+ HP and four skills right off the bat, two of which target groups (the Wind Scar can actually end a battle in a single move if your enemies are all weak).

I'd say that it's a pretty good game for Inuyasha fans who own the Nintendo DS (a bit of a niche market), and an average game for anyone else.

It happens, if I bark at Weasel for fucking up, Haro has to pounce on him and vice-versa.

We're like bad tag-team wrestlers, one does the job, and the other just adds insult to injury.

I personally enjoyed Evangelion a great deal. It made you think. More anime should make people think.

The only thing I thought about after completing Evangelion was seeking psychological help.

no we discuss anime and things relating to anime.

Hmmmm, then...

I don't own very much anime (all I've got is the Sonic OVA and some old badly-dubbed VHS), and I don't have BitTorrent anymore (my dad destroyed it under the guise that it was "eating up too much bandwidth/disk space"), so I don't have as much experience with this stuff as you guys do. And I haven't bought a region-free DVD player, either. (Is it possible to buy one of those in the 'States without being intercepted by the FBI?)

Also, I'm a Spaction3 supporter.

I see. According to the age listed in your profile, you lost interest prior to the infamous coup.

Anyway, I've seen the first five episodes of Fushigiboshi no Futagohime fansubbed on YouTube. Matthew quit subbing it after the first five episodes for unknown reasons; then Aikousha Fansubs (who no longer exist) picked it up; and now Honobono Fansubs has the series, and I can't get the episodes now. Guess I'll just have to lurk around moar and see what I can find...

I need a new anime to watch. Here is a short list of some of the completed animes I have watched, and the ongoing ones at the bottom.

DB
DBZ
YYH
DBGT
Naruto
Prince of Tennis
S-Cry-Ed
FMA

Ongoing:

Naruto: Shippuden
Bleach (not including fillers)
Prince of Tennis OVAs (which aren't even getting subbed...)

I need animes like these ones that are really long.

Does anyone have any suggestions that aren't One Piece?

5. No talking about fansubs, raws, scanlations, or warez anime games or where to get them. This means no links. It's against NG rules. Again, this will get you kicked out of the club. You may, however say that you've watched an anime, read a manga, or played an anime game, you just can't say how you got it. Saying you watched 'said anime' on 'said site' is a no-no as well.
