On a slightly different note; a random fact about myself:

Personally, I am generally a big fan of remakes. Not just re-animated parts of an old series, but more epic retellings and re-structurings of many an old series.

Even some of you have to admit that the following has epic differences. Case in point for today: "Tekkaman" and "Tekkaman Blade"

Original

and

Remake

It's common knowledge. Also, thank you for sending me on a nostalgia headtrip.

Can somebody recommend me some similar shows that are good and easy to find?

Sadly, all the other cop story animes I know are action-comedies instead of smart dramas...

But if you want another good thought-provoking drama with a sci-fi twist, give Serial Experiments Lain a try, if you already haven't.

That's why I loved SAC, it was good blend of existentialism and action-packed cop drama. Sort of like Nietzsche meets Law & Order: Criminal Intent with less order and more cyborgs.

Yeah, you really need to see it all from the beginning to enjoy it. That's why I gave it a pass while it was airing on TV, because I came late into the series and missed episodes often.

GaoGaiGar blew me away... Not only just the immense amounts of courage, action and fusion going on but the J-Ark. Oh my fucking god if there ever was something that was packed to the seems with win and awesome the J-Ark, Soldat-J and King J-Der would be these things along side of the obvious GaoGaiGar, Guy and the many robos of GGG.

GaoGaiGar, King J-Der and Big Volfogg for the courageous win.

I am currently half way through GaoGaiGar FINAL and I'm not sure if I can take anymore win and awesome into my system for it's close to the limit of exploding.

Although, the OP and ED just don't have the same impact as the ones for GaoGaiGar. FINAL has some awesome music that is right along side with GGG but it's OP and ED aren't as good as GGG's.

All in all, this alt of mine has a permanent name now.

I've yet to come across Glorious Grand Gathering though which saddens me but I'm still looking.

MEGA FUSION!

GaoGaiGar FINAL has the most epic ending to a robot show I have ever seen. Such is the well deserved title "King of Braves".

Although, the OP and ED just don't have the same impact as the ones for GaoGaiGar. FINAL has some awesome music that is right along side with GGG but it's OP and ED aren't as good as GGG's.

"Arashi no Kessen" (Played during the first stage of the fight between GFG and GGG) is one of the defining tracks of the GGGF OST in my opinion.

I've yet to come across Glorious Grand Gathering though which saddens me but I'm still looking.

Though minor, I found the additions and edits to GGGFGGG a blessing. Not to mention the Genesic GaoGaiGar figure that came with my box set.

MEGA FUSION!

If you listen to everything Gendo and Haro say, everything is made of some kind of "win."

I got here latefor the cosplay conversation, but I refuse to let that stand in my way. I've been to three cons, twice as staff in the guest relations department, one as an attendee. I have never cosplayed. I do not intend to cosplay. I have actually met Man-Faye (look that up on Google if you don't know who he is), and he is a awesome person to talk too. The only character I look enough alike to cosplay as would be Shinji Ikari from Evangelion, and I refuse to wear the skin tight pilot suit, so basically it'd be me in black pants and a white shirt. The idea of the whole club getting together at a con is not new, and indeed every year, a few days before Otakon, LLStarks tries to organize it. So far, he's the only one to have shown.

Smart casual wear seems reasonable enough. As opposed to the standard of 'casual' in other countries *CoughUKCough*.

We're diving far back into the club history here, but most of the people who were here for it have gone, so I guess all you n00bs need a history lesson.

LLStarks (known as kouga-kun for most of his NG time) formed this club. There was not much rejoicing at all, since NG already had an anime club called the ADG (Anime Dead Girls, it was a hijacked anti-anime thread in General). Still, the club grew in popularity because it was easier to find and recognize than the other guys. The club grew large enough that Kouga added Inuyasha as a leader (not Kisuke, the older Inuyasha). Eventually Miroku and Tink were also added as leaders. Kouga had the idea of moving the club onto it's own forums. Around this time, I rejoined the club (having already joined and left when kouga was the only leader). Inyasha had disappeared by this time. Upon hearing the club was having conferences over Yahoo messenger, I got pissed off and demanded to be part of the loop. In order to acheive this, I became very active both here and our own forums, and was eventually made authority figure underneath Darkmoon, ProtoBassX, and MrTrivia. I continued to do well, and was shortly thereafter chosen to be the leader to replace Inuyasha. Miroku lost interest in the club around this point and disappreared also. Kouga, Tink, and myself ran the club quite smoothly for a while, till Tink had to lose her internet access for a while, and Kouga began shifting all the leadership duties to me. Previously Tink had been the middleman between Kouga and myself who were usually on opposite ends of the spectrum, with her not around, I had nothing holding me back. Tink reappeared, but it was already too late, I had a plan. I completely fucked over the forums. I changed the word censor so everything posted came out as "smurf" and gave all the users new names based on characters from the smurfs. MrTrivia was the only one who tried to stop me, but couldn't help much. I made an ultimatum to Kouga that he needed to fix things and start doing actual work around "his" club. Instead, he ran arawy, and I had to fix my own mess. We abandoned those forums, and I left the club. Tink convinced me to return as her second-in-command. SHit was good for a while, then Kouga returned demanding that the club be returned to him, and even tried to Enlist Dobio's help in this. Dobio ruled that if he sucked so much as a leader, he didn't care who ran things. Kouga still tried to take back the club as his, I stopped him in a massive flame war. Rinse, lather, repeat. Several times. Tink eventually disappeared ( I haven't seen her in over a year), but I still kept the title of second-in-command, being unwilling to be the leader again. EVentually, I gave up hope, decided there was no one else here fit to lead this place, and became the leader. MrTrivia is my Second-In-Command. So this is how it stands. I don't trust the club to LLStarks, and he doesn't trust me with it. Usually a flame war erupts everytime he posts here.

Now why don't you start listening to my authority figures. I gave them the authority for a fuckin' reason.

I was just checking the club list (which I haven't been added to yet btw. Update more regularly, lol) and it was surprising to find that HaroFreak is an authority figure yet Dr-HyakuNinGiri isn't. The latter handles situations much more maturely whilst the former seems almost desperate to flame, as if it boosts his own ego. I don't think an authority figure in our club should allow it to be hijacked for 2+ pages and actually contribute to the problem rather than the solution. That being said, it is your club, so I will follow your rules as long as I am a member. Your maturity and wisdom in the past is what made you the leader today(and the club what it is), so I will trust you in the present.

I think post people around here would say DBZ is better, but between DBZ and Dragon Ball might be a bit of a harder choice. Dragon Ball has the beginnings of all the characters...seeing Goku use the Kamehameha, though be it weak, after he saw it used once was sweet. DBZ has the super saiyan power levels, kid buu, gotenks, vegeta, and grown up goku. GT has Goku becoming a kid again, which was neat....

Ya know, I tried compressing files with Winrar and Power Archiver, and I barely saved any space at all...fucking worthless. So in order to maker more room on my portable drive, I first got rid of all the Naruto episodes after 135 I had and was able to fit some more series on, and then to fit the FMP, Fummofu?, and FMP:TSR I had to get rid of everything before episode 78, excluding the first episode.

I want to find MAR now, that show looks funny and interesting, and fits with my favorite genres- Fantasy Comedies.

I never actually considered Dragonball GT canon, as opposed to the actual drawn comic adaptations into the TV series.

ZOMG SPOILER /sarcasm?
The only true 'epic' moment is when Goku becomes Super Saiya-jin for the first time. Sadly the ball was dropped after they continued introducting SSJ as a common attribute.

I always found it funny that there hadn't been a super saiyan for like 3000 years, then in a relativly short timespan someone gets all the way up to SS4...

DBZ was all about da POWER!!!! Even if it might have hurt anime because of the stereotype of anime that was created afterwards, anyone who likes anime should at least watch some if it, though many people probably have it as one of the first animes they liked...maybe before they even knew what "anime" was.

I use to watch Tenchi, Digimon, Pokemon, and DBZ before I even knew that they were anime...and from Japan...except for Pokemon.

There were a lot of discrepancies with the power levels and what people could do at those levels. Like when Babidi (always liked Bibidi ~> Babidi ~> Buu) measures super saiyan Goku's power at 3000 (using his scale) and says that 500 is enough to destroy a planet...but Vegeta destroyed a planet very early on, when he was first going to Earth, and there is no way Super Saiyan form is only 6 times as strong as that!

Which is most probably why they switched to relative measurements between themselves and another fighter instead of using number-based statistics.
