Because I have the same exact novel.
I'm surprised, I thought I was one of the very few people that actually read novels, (minus the book club). Good to know. When it comes to the Novel, the movie, and the manga, I rank them like this...
1. Manga (My reason is that it fills in the gaps of almost everything the creator wanted to add in, and it's great artwork helped the story, for real, some of the best artword I've seen in a manga since Sanctuary.)
2. The Novel (Definetely a classic. Something I'd read again on a long road trip or bus ride. When I first bought this book, I read it whenever I could.)
3. The Movie (I have nothing against the movie, although I feel as though they messed up a bit much. It was a great adaptation, but I can understand the fact that they needed to introduce it in a way where people that hadn't read to manga or novel could understand it better.)
I've seen part two as well to that movie. It's basically a kick the nuts of Bush and the Iraq war. The beginning of part two will kind've get to you, it'll remind you of 9/11 kind've.
Course I still read novels, I love reading them but my rank of the novel, manga and movie is alittle different then yours.
1.Novel: it goes into so much detail and makes you feel like you know all of the 32(not sure on that exactly) charecters in it not to metion the Author was an absolute geinous.
2Manga: I felt like it strayed from the story line a little too much exspecially in volume 3 when it explains all of Mitskua's quirks and whatnot I didn't expect a hentai and was reading it my parents in the same room >.< .
3. Movie: It wasn't what I thought it would be, strayed waaaaay too far from the story line and some of the charecters didn't act like they should have but there was one cute part in it, when the women is explaining the rules of the game to them on the T.V I just thought it was hilarous and the facial expressions she used were well... cute.
