Yeah I read the BECK manga.

So to get a conversation started here I figured that I could ask how did you get into Anime and what was the first one that you can remember seeing. My answer to it would be I got into it by watching the whole Macross sereies with my dad (yeah he's kickass like that) then watching Macross + by myself.

I was wondering, how many anime games are out on the market, and how many would you recommend? Here are the ones that I currently own:
Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale - Fighting genre, PS One. There were some typoes in the manual, and they called Inuyasha's Backlash Wave something different, but the game kicks ass.
.hack series (INFECTION through QUARANTINE) - Role-playing, PS2. It's taking me a while to get through these games because I have to re-familiarize every time if I don't play it often enough. The controls took some getting used to in the first place too.
Robotech: Battlecry - Shooter, PS2. I like this game because it has real mechs, characters, and missions from the Macross saga. The controls are quite complex, but when you're switching between Battloid, Guardian, and Fighter pretty much at will, simple controls are nearly impossible.
Robotech: Invasion - Shooter, PS2. This one is based on Robotech: The New Generation, and it even has a playable flashback before the main part of the game, so you can get used to the controls (although I still can't aim for crap). I'm stuck on the first mission of chapter two (some guy keeps killing my teammate and I can't quite pick him off), but otherwise the game is fun and relatively easy.
Dragon Quest VIII - Role-Playing, PS2. I'm not sure if this is based on an anime, but it's definitely styled like one. If I didn't know better, I'd swear that I've seen some of the game's characters in episodes of DragonBall Z (Kalderasha looks like Hercule, and some of the townspeople look like Future Trunks and Android 18). It's a very fun game and it's worth every penny of its retail price.

So no answers to my question yet?

I recommend Narutimate Hero2 &3 for the PS2, though you have to either get a mod chip or flip top to play the game since they are in Japanese. They are really great though.

I hear that DBZ: Budokai 3 isnt too bad.

And of course......Pokemon for the Gameboy!!! Yay!!!

There is also FF7, which they've made a few animes about.

I got started with Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets when I was somewhere from 3 to 5 years old, but I barely remember it. What actually got me into anime was Dragonball Z. I watched it all the time on Toonami and WB. I also watched Thundercats then, but only when there was nothing else on. Toonami is actually older than some people may believe. It existed before that Tom character came along. I remember when it had Moltar from Space Ghost. I think all they showed then was DBZ, Thundercats, Batman, and Sailor Moon.

Thats pretty cool, plus Gatchaman/ Battle of the Planets or whatever you want to call it is always cool my dad owns the box set so I've seen it. About the Toonami thing your I didn't realize how old it was but I do remember when I was like 5/6 and Tom first started being their mascot all they showed was the oldschool anime.

Yeah, back when he was a short, fat, blue and white colored guy. I vaguely remember a little miniseries kind of thing about him changing into the taller, skinny, black colored robot and this red thing was taking over the ship. They had a different ship, too. Then, the webcomics came out to explain his next transformation into the big, muscular looking, black robot he is today.....

I miss Reboot and Tenchi. Well, I'll probably get Tenchi Muyo and Universe on DVD someday.

Nearly all of those sound like excellent anime; you must have a good source because I can't find any titles like those in the Greater Columbus area.
Now all that's left is for you to choose a character to represent you. Here is a list of the characters already taken.

well I want Cho Hakkai to represent me.
Here is his pic

At 6/6/06 06:36 AM, mr_trivia wrote: I was wondering, how many anime games are out on the market

Let's see.

- The DBZ Budokai games. - (can only speak about the first one) pretty decent fighting game, and nice story mode.

- The DarkStalkers games - (Can only speak for DarkStalkers III) Very nice fighting game, if a bit formulaic. Never saw the anime, but I loved the game, particularly in the story mode for each character.

- The .Hack games - Can't say, never played.

- The Pokemon games - Pretty decent RPGs, even if a bit "cutesy." They provide hours of entertainment. As for the Colosseum/Puzzle/other knockoff versions, just like I said: knockoffs. I imagine they might be entertaining, but I never played those ones.

- Gundam Battle Assault (I and II) - Very nice fighting game in my opinion. I prefer Battle Assault II to the first one, as it offers more suits both in Street Mode and Vs Mode. Actually helps to give you the (barest) idea of the story line of Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam Wing Endless Waltz, and G Gundam.

- The Yu-Gi-Oh! Card-game based video games (mostly for GBA but some for PS2 and GC.) - Get REALLY repetitive after a while. Not really worth it for any but the most die-hard fans of the card game.

- Tekken - I think that the movie was actually based off the game, but whatever. I personally have only played Tekken 3 to any significant extent, but I fucking LOVED the game, particularly, as with most other fighting games I play, in the story mode. Although I know he is the cheapest character, my best is and will always be True Ogre, strictly because I practically mastered him within a week of unlocking him.

- Lupin III game(s?) - Can't say, never played.

- FMA Game(s?) - Ditto.

- Yu Yu Hakusho Games - Same.

- Inuyasha game(s?) - Once again, dunno.

- The Legend of Dragoon - Although it's not based on an anime nor the inspiration for an anime, it should have been. There should have been a fucking series based on it when it came out. It already has anime-style artwork, a kickass plot, and fucking brilliant characters. This is a PlayStation game, and if you don't buy it or haven't played it, there's only two excuses that keep you from being just deprived: not owning a playstation or hating RPGs in general.

- The Legend of Zelda - Yes! There was a TLOZ anime at some point! I don't know jack shit about it, but I've seen a few screenshots from it! And yes, the games are fucking worth it, all I can say.

I'm sure I'll think of like fifty more after I make this post.

Some of you maybe wondering where i have been the past few days. Well on Friday of last week my area had a bad thrunderstom. And during the thunderstom lightning struck my house.

Now given that my house is a little older than others it didn't have a grounding wire, therefore it had no other choice than to fry several appliances. One of which was my computer's modem so i have been without internet access since Friday. I should be getting a nerw modem soon.

Things Fried:

My T.V.
My DVD Player
My computer's Modem
2 wall outlets (One exploded!)
3 phones
1 phone jack (also exploded!)
1 phone box (exploded also!)
1 Microwave
1 Antenna Roter (Antenna turner)
3 miles worth of phone line down the street

Damaged:

Bro's T.V.
2 Rooftop Antennas
2 phone jacks
1 surge protector

So all in all I have lost all home access to the internet and will be for a while before i can get a new modem. (how my computer itself wasn't fried i will never know!) So now my family will be getting alot of Surge protectors!

Well if find both to be enjoying in my oppinion, but I'm not a fan of old anime that was based on novels like little women and such (we got a lot of that in our anime channel)
By the way, does any body here watch those things anymore?
Aside that some still rocks like the Dragonball series, Ranma 1/2 and Yuyu Hakusho.

I've been pondering something for a while now; How successful would an anime-themed restaurant be? Would many people eat at a place that served dishes like "Bebop Bell Peppers & Beef"?

No, you really cant. So whats the story on the newer game from Atlas?I forget what its called, but it involves one cocky dude calling himself "One bad ass freakin' overlord." I know thats in the beginning scene some where, so anyone should instantly know what I'm talking about when they read this. Think it begins with an M... Ma-something Kingdom.

You mean Makai Kingdom ? It is like Final Fantasy Tactics, but is a lot more involved and has more stuff.
