LOVELY.

Movie Soundtracks

I spent like 80 bucks last night buying movie soundtracks... they are my new crack.

Anyone know of any movies that had interesting soundtracks? I aint talking disney shit with singing...

For instance I bought the italian job, some tracks that danny elfman did on burton's films and some other stuff... I'm curious since you folks seem to watch way more movies than i do.. if you can steer me in the right direction.. I'm just shopping around for tracks to use in future animations.. so i dont want something like super well known like the theme song from e.t. or some shit.

thanks team.

Plus you could hire college girls to help with your company.

Im not at University yet but I did meet a lecturer and they seem really dull... he talked for ages and it wasnt even a lecture...

He kept repeating himself but saying it differently...

His face went all funny when he took a pause so it seemed like he had finished and when he carried on everyone groaned (including the adult volunteers) and then he talked for another ten minutes before actually telling us what we were there to do...

My lecturers were all engaging also.. thats one thing i always enjoyed about college... 1- being able to refer to teachers by their first name.. and 2- just the casualness of it.. you can really like talk to your lecturers like regular people.. like maybe have coffee or the occasional happy hour.. i enjoyed my college experience.

Why would you be concerned anyway? It's $50 you've got and don't have to worry about bandwidth for at the moment. :P

Doesnt that make 1 and 2 the same :)

You know what is the same as college, a junior role in a company. Except of course you learn a lot more and you are treated as equal... Oh and the fact it doesnt cost and you're in fact getting paid to do it. But other then that it's the same :)

Oh of course, getting paid to play every single crappy game that comes out, then writing 10 pages on it, then repeating, while getting the occasional good game to review, which you have to rush through and not enjoy because there's a fresh stack of Disney-based games sitting on the counter next to you to be reviewed. Don't forget the fanboys yelling at you and sending you death threats when you give their game a 9.9 instead of a 10. Fun stuff.

I'm going to be a console game programmer. I get to test my game anyway, but leave the tedious work to the beta testers.

Way better than a desk job, though.

As far as my career goes, over the years i've been interested in architecture, and designing. But currently I want to do something art-related. I've been doodling random stick figures for years, but now I feel like I want to step up my art a bit more. My goal is to have a more interesting job than my dad. :P

I am an addict, like you. Here are my 5 favorite.

Instrumental

Bram stoker's Dracula (GREAT ambient eerie music)
Bad Boys score (seriously. Action packed)
Final Fantasy Advent Children (Poetry in music. Fucking amazing)

With Vocals.

The Crow Soundtrack. (Great rock mix. NiN/Cure/Rollins)
Across the Universe (Especially if you love the Beatles like I do.)

Glaiel seems to have the same reaction for the gaming press as I do for gaming. Which leads me to wonder whether he's been rejected as a magazine writer before.

Then there's many awesome anime OSTs.

No! You beat me to it... Forgot Newmans best work though; the soundtrack for The Shawshank Redemption, it's brilliant! I love listening to soundtracks actually, if you're into electrical check out John Murphy's soundtracks for 28 days/weeks later and Sunshine. Band of Brothers also has a very nice classical soundtrack.

No, I hate writing period. But I just feel like crushing the dreams of people who think that they can get a job playing video games.

Nope, I'll pop back on occasion, but the flash games won't come out too often anymore. Like one a year if you're lucky.

Leaking

Anyone posting links from ngup to things that arent yours and in essence leaking someones hard work for all newgrounds to see will be banned on sight. Just cause you CAN do it doesnt mean you SHOULD. It's bad enough you are looking at peoples work in progress to begin with....the LEAST you can do is have a little respect and dont post a link on a busy forum like this.

Disgusting. I dont want to mention any names... EL-PRESIDENTE.

Ennio Morricone is the GREATEST composer ever.

I completely agree. Thats why I absolutely hate the way that ngup has made it just numbers for each file. I use it to upload .swf files to send to people I'm working with, and knowing that someone can simply change a number and see whats in progress is just disturbing. They could at least md5 the name, take the first 10 characters and put an _ between that and the number. That would solve the issue.

Yeah, I remember discussing that problem as well earlier last week. It kinda grinds my gears when a site has easy accessible content, thats why I basically refuse to use a site that'll be able to view my work at their own free will or let others take a peak on it.

That's why for now on, I'm going to use an uploader that is just lowclass and not exactly having a owner that'll care what I upload, rather than a site like NGUP which lets anyone see your work.

I think its time to contact Atomicnoodle about this issue. Don'tcha think?

I agree.. but i mean its a free service so its hard to really be demanding about it... i'll look into it nonetheless....

It's just really disappointing when a reg of the forum would do that.. i mean anyone that contributes anything to the portal knows how you bust your ass to bring entertainment to people.. why ruin it by blowing the suprise element. I understand theres lame noobs out there who will inevitably do it.. fuck them. Set an example as a reg to not do it.

Sorry to make such a big deal out of it .... k im done

Leak
I used to have public betas of some of my games because it's fun letting a lot of people test work and a group of people is usually easier to test with. But people started decompiling my files and distributing them across the web without permission, so I would have a half done game floating around the web.

It's too bad... I really want to trust people but it's like leaving your front door unlocked... sooner or later someone is going to bust in.

I know the feeling. I'm working on a Crash Bandicoot Flash game with TaroNuke, and we released a demo on Devart. It's literally all over the net now. Well, at least it has our logo in it. But someone actually submitted it to Newgrounds the bastard. He got his account deleted though so it's all good.
