HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!

W00t, recognition. Also, i'm making a scrollbar, And the information is in a movieclip. The problem is, the information that is going into the scrollbar is buttons. Will the button's actionscript work if its in a movieclip?

I fell in love with every uni I looked around. I'm a complete whore for them :P I'll have any that'll take me.
By the way - what subject are you taking?
Annoying open days
I got an open day at Durham which has managed to land itself right on the day of our tri-annual college rave. I know it sounds kinda sad, but the parties organised by the school are really the best ones. It's all organised to be super-awesome, everyone makes an effort with costumes, you get wasted with people you otherwise would only see sober and there're always several people who can buy you drinks if you're underage.
I'm a little annoyed about that :(

im majoring in motion graphics/ 3d animation which seems to have a pretty stable market. i would never try to get a job in 2d animation, wat too tough of a feild to get into.
3d animation will get saturated in no time too like 2d animation. It's relatively new and there's still a large market for it at the moment but when all the kids who are studying 3d animation at the moment will graduate, the bar will be set really high also for newcomers.

I'm gonna go for a video game design/programming course =o
The partys organised by my college are crap - only the lower year (AS) students go, theres very little alcohol.. I'll just stick to house partys xD

So I was thinking that it would be cool to generate a monthly webisode recap of what went down in ng for the month...
If it ends up catching on, then other artists could borrow the 'set' and like run the episode for that month... i dunno I think itd be a cool little community project. The webisode would be somewhat like Gamer Tonight or something.. thoughts...
Aww. You stole my sarcastic pessimistic commentary of the Portal ala Charlie Brooker style idea and turned it into something horrible and community building.

Co-Op for Pico Day '08?
I've neither an idea nor time to create one. I do however have the time to help program a game if someone is already working on such. If you need a programmer, let me know. I want to participate this year!

I like the sound of your idea :) Charlie Brooker is a complete ledgend.
Marcus Brigstocke's pretty awesome as well, come to think of it.
I'm Charlie Brooker and you're watching Screenwipe...

Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe on Youtube
Questionable, Sarcastic content. All of it's fairly work safe - and it features some animation work by David Firth
Who thinks it'd work just as well with someone sitting at thier computer bitching at the Portal, and then going into vignettes about the Sponsorship scene, why groups like the Clock Crew exist, and how to not look like a prat on the Flash Forum?

You could well be hitting an untapped market.
I was considering doing something like that with reviews for Flash stuff, but I'm not sure how big the potential audience is.

I think thats a really good idea.
It might be a bit of work, but I think a lot of people would enjoy watching and get something from a monthly roundup of little hidden gems.
Have a thread, people can submit their recommendations and thoughts and then someone can put it together.
I think for it to be properly successfull it would need to be done really well though. Have a pro sounding voiceover and make it slick nd all that jazz
Messy Desktop
My desktop is nearing it's saturation point :(. And this is with a 1900x1200 display. The problem is that I like having everything accessible from my desktop, because I can just go into the desktop and type the file name to have it appear.
Sigh. Is anyone else silly with organization?
Hi there!

Umm.. woah o_O.
I used to have a relatively messy desktop, but not to the point that there were 100s of files cramped together in a corner D;...
Desktops
Oh My... I have about 6 icons on my desktop, at most. I'm a well-organized kinda guy.

Come to think of it I have a good thirty icons (software shortcuts as well) in my Dock, so I guess those would count as well.
i just keep each different type of program or file in a folder on my desktop. That way, almost everything is accessible with 2 or 3 clicks, unless its a file embedded in shit loads of folders.

Woah. i always thought mine was cluttered, but yours definitely takes first prize.. When icons are starting to overlap and stuff, that's when it becomes annoyingly cluttered for me.
But It's cool though, I heard in some woman's tv show that people who have this type of organization usually have a creative mind!

I have probably a few hundred icons available directly from the desktop. The difference between me and you, are quite a few of them are in folders. I generally keep my app icons and things I use very often just on the desktop, and everything else in folders.
Not so Messy Desktop
I have one icon...although my dock has 60 icons...

I concur. That is some hot shit right there. I'd love to boot up to that everyday, haha.
I only have maybe 20 some icons on my desktop. I'm running XP with 1024 x 768 resolution though.
I need a new computer this year, but I sure as hell don't want Vista.

I was talking to a friend of mine who goes to Millersville and he said that since it's kinda out in the boonies, all they do is drink, which is kinda depressing because I know of a great Lasertag place like 20 minutes from there.
And what happened to videogames, sports like ultimate frisbee, doing acid, and banging chicks?
