This is the wrong place to ask, but am I alone in thinking that Flash programming should be in a different forum category than Flash animation. All I see on the forums are AS questions and collabs it seems. The way I see it animation and scripting are very different and are both very technical so they should be sifted and split up.

I except opposition, but it's how I feel. Anyone think the same?

Yeah, I've felt that the Flash Forum has become a lonely place for animators, myself included. With the introduction of the Art Forum it seems that most of the people who lean to the animation side of Flash have been pushed out of the Flash Forum and into Art, but that isn't a perfect fit either. Having two different forums for the two distinct aspects of Flash seems a bit much to me...

The point of contention was that more often then not the topics are AS related.

I'm fully aware that this forum can also pertain to animation, I've been here for awhile, but the animation related topics are far and few in between.

Well they could always imply a new rule that all AS questions go in the programming forum, which seems more fit anyway, and then the Flash forum would be filled with collabs and animation-based topics. Until then we always have the reg lounge :]

NG Collabs still exists, just most of the members who were decent left.

Inglor abandoned us, and there just isn't much interest. Hell, I rarely show my face there.

GOD NO! That is a terrible idea, why? Because the vast vast majority of questions relating to AS have absolutely nothing to do with programming as per say, they are to do with specific language features specific only to AS and Flash.

Does anyone else do this? You keep a backlog of everysingle email you've recieved (this is since i change from moo_oo_o@hotmail.com to delta_luca@hotmail.com). You don't delete emails you've viewed that may be important. However at the same time you are too lazy to delete the ones you don't need to keep, and even lazier to not bother checking the ones you KNOW are spam, nor delete them, therefore remaining as 'new emails'

I once had over 2000 new emails on my laptop when I first got it. When I set up my email, it pulled every email I had received in the past year off of comcast's server.

The same thing happens if I don't use my laptop in a while.

I just recently set my email to delete from the server after 1 week of retrieval though.

I too lazy to delete my unread emails most of the time. Every once in a while I'll have a major cleanup but my inbox will be filled with unread stuff after a day or three. 1500 is a bit much tho... I might have 1500 unread emails in my Hotmail inbox, but that's because I switched to Gmail a year ago and never bothered to check my Hotmail anymore.

The reason there are so many different AS threads is that there are a tonne of problems, efficiency-issues, code examples, classes and general things you can do with AS, and it's very easy to discuss them (especially with the new code tags).

Compare that to animation. I'm aware that there are quite a few different ways to animate things, but it's nowhere near as accessible a topic when it comes to starting threads as coding is.

Anyway, at the end of the day - if you want the forum to be more comfortable for animators then it's up to you to start some animation threads other than "I'll pretend I want critique on my new Flash so I have a legitimate excuse to whore it out". Maybe start some discussions on how to animate something in various ways - I don't know. A lot of that kind of discussion has been vacuumed into the 'lounge, so maybe you guys should start posting new threads about that kind of thing.

Actually, that goes a little for coding too, since the forum seems to have lost most of its threads which aren't either collab-recruiting or help-desk stuff.
