Books

Ok, so one of my aims for '08 is to read more books. The last book I read was Monkey Planet (a.k.a Planet of the Apes). It was actually a lot better than I thought it would be, better than 2001 film (but not as good as the 1968 film). Can anyone recommended any good Sci-Fi books in a similar vein?

I don't really read a lot of books... But as soon as I find a good book, man I can't stop reading it. Like The Devil's Arithmetic, Star Girl (odd name, pretty good book), Holes, And books by R.L stine (But not the goosebumps ones.)

But sorry, I don't have any Sci-Fi books to recommend.

"Xmas"
Is anyone else offended by the use of "xmas" to replace Christmas? Being Christian, i see the X being used as a way to cross out Christ. Like its an attempt to further remove Jesus and religion from the background of Christmas all together.
no flame plz kthnx

The way it is now it hasn't got a lot to do with Christ anyway. I mean I don't think he'd approve too much of people celebrating his birthday with loads of presents and other material stuff... It's become a day of value for the economy rather than a religious happening

Books

I read a lot of Orson Scott Card, primarily the Ender and the Homecoming series.

I like those. I read a lot of Piers Anthony. I really like the incarnations of immortality series...it's old, but really entertaining.

Orson Scott Card is a Mormon you know?

Books

I do not read often, but sometimes I find a book that I really enjoy thoroughly.

I'm finishing up The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas. It is a classic novel and I enjoyed it a lot. I would recommend it to others.

Who puts spice in a apple pie?

Webcomics

Anyone read any webcomics? I've recently become addicted to Dinosaur Comics and xkcd, both are hilarious.

Re:Webcomics
I read xkcd all the time, I love it. It's the only webcomic I like really. Dinosaur comics is too repetitive, using the same art every time. I like the way xkcd combines maths & humor, it's great.

That aint like no cartoon I've ever seen.

As for favourite foods... Pizza is pretty sweet. Yeah, Pizza is definitely my favourite take away/fast food. And while we're on the subject of food, what's Subway like in America? Is 6 inch still the standard size over there? I know how you guys like to supersize everything lol.

I was hoping it was to symbolise you having an XXX rated Xmas.

Webcomics

I only have a few I check regularly bookmarked.

Ctrl-alt-delete is great and while it's not always laugh out loud funny, it's updated regularly and follows a common storyline, which most other comics do not.

Penny arcade is funny usually, I prefer ctrl-alt-delete to it but PA does make some excellent points.

VGcats is laugh out loud every comic, but they don't update much.

1/0 is a weird one in that it's not really funny. I read it through once and enjoyed it though, but I can't really explain why I liked it so much. It's a shame its over.

And that's it.

We just had our company Chri... oops... Holiday... dinner. Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, corn, salad, cranberries, pumpkin pie ... and everyone else brought cookies and candies. I feel like that dude in the Monty Python movie where he says 'fuck off, I'm full' then has one more little mint and vomits for like 10 minutes! lol

My family celebrated Christmas on Wednesday (2 days ago), so...I'm officially done with gifts, baking and all that crap! Thank X!

Food favs

I liek italian food. Lots of it. Spaghetti, ravioli, and other assorted pastas. I also like burritos, as Luis already well knows.

X-mas

Seriously. Who even acknowledges Christmas as the birth of christ anymore? When people hear Christmas, they don't think "birthday of Jesus christ", they think of "commercialized holiday in which everyone gets lots of presents from friends and relatives". But what do I care? I'm Jewish!

Web comics

Looking for group flaky pastry is what I'm into. A friend introduced me to them and I haven't stoped enjoyin' 'em yet.

Fav Food.

P-I-C-K-L-E-S!!!! >:3
But seriously now... BBQ Pork Ribs on a nice summer day... awesome stuff. However I really enjoy my hot chocolate milk... though I'm not sure if that counts as a food.

winter solstice
Hurray at 10:30 PM here it'll be winter solstice! I'm a spiritualist so this is equal to pretty much Xmas or whatever kind of gift giving thing you celibrate. Since all this holiday stuff is so touchy with all these religions these days I'll end it their as I don't want to step on anyones toes.

And now I must go and work on flash non-stop to go out this year with a bang!

Homemade Christmas Presents
So my girlfriend was talking about how she wanted heelys for some reason but didn't feel like buying them, so I got the idea that I would make some homemade ones out of some old shoes and skateboard trucks.

It took forever to get the trucks in the fucking shoes, but after that I was quite pleased with my creations.
Here they are.

Any of you have succesfull stories with homemade presents?
