I would really like to know why a serious educational institute would allow such a travesty to bear their name. This and that other "famous," terrible game design commercial, "Tighten Up the Graphics", are both exactly the kind of thing that make people disregard video games as art and a serious industry. The advertising firms behind such commercials should never design a commercial again.

Wow... That was an abomination. Who would design a commercial like that?!?! Retards? Then who let it on the air? More retards?

Bad analogy. My mom is a special-ed teacher, and the kids she teaches are some of the most STUBBORN beings ever. Trust me, I tried to get a kid to eat multi-grain cheerios (he'll only eat regular), and somehow he knew by looking at them they were multi-grain.

I thought that was the point of the orginal flash.. as in "whats your newgrounds?" basically asking people to create the same movie explaining what NG means to them.

I could be wrong but I thought a collab was in discussion.

true but i would have expected it for it to be approached in its own flair.. i mean in the hp commercials its essentially the same presentation but you can see each celebrities personality... like jerry seinfeld is like done in a ny cafe, and uses his dry wit... the one with that snowboarder has like a very wintery feel... the one with pharrell has a more urbany feel.. in its tributes i wish it were like that where the true personality of the person peeks through.. thats what i felt when i saw allan's ... id never heard of him.. but i came away feeling like i did know him..

I honestly really wanted to throw something together rather than the basic "okay, let's hide our face" type of deal. I may still throw something together, I don't quite know, but we'll see. Even if it's not on the official "whats your newgrounds" day, I still want to throw something together.

I may go more into detail though, rather than these basic same carbon copies of one another.

NEW MY NG:
I think they're cool, it's not like it's the creator's fault it has such a high-score, they were just trying to express their take on the fad the best they could. Sure, there's always room for improvement and creativity, but you can't knock them for taking part in the fad.

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2007-12-21 02:05:25

Which gets more love? Collections or Series'?
I've been pondering this for a while.. What do you think gets more views/love on NG. The collections or the series'? We all know Tommy-Boy loves the collections and their's plenty of 'em both. But which gets more love? Collections are good cause their different artists usually making something simular while a series may have an actual storyline or end up being really impressive. E.g. Maddness, Palidin, etc.
I think I'm going to have to go with Series'. Some series are just classic like Scrotum the Puppy, they're an actual part of NG it seems. Even though the Days like Denvish Day, Luis Day, Pico Day, Maddness day, etc. Are all fun to participate in some series are just plain amazing.
But then agian..... some series' may become so popular they get a collection page and the whole collections vs. series' thing goes out the window. :S

Thoughts?

Oh man... I have to start doing drugs and drinking agian. I ramble too much when I'm normal.

feeding the crowd the same thing
well like Luis said they are like sheep well look at this for example
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/41 5838
got front page and is exactly like the original how to not die except worse art
and animation...i am sorry to tell you but the fault lye's mainly on tom fulp well he gives front page to crap like that and like the exact same my newgrounds which too tell you the truth i blamed that piece of crap okay i understand what mindchamber said about him inviting people prpole to do their newgrouns but art and animation was crap writing well there was none...i cant seem to understand why tom would front page that for instance metal gear awesome is good but don't deserve it's score then well you get stuff like awsome's creed which isn't very good and was made in 8 hours and if tom would front page something you can be pretty sure that it would get voted 5 by a lot of loyal minions and would get an high score well if you want front page just copy something that got front page and wasn't very good you don't need skills at nothing the sad thing is the flash how to get front page is totally right...

In all fairness, bomtoons is right in that its not the authors fault people vote how they do... and the concept of being really proud of being a newgrounder and showing your 'school spirit' is great.. im all for that.. i just see it as something like baking an apple pie... in the end its an apple pie.. the recipe is vaguely similar ... but everyone tweaks the recipe maybe adds a little more nutmeg or extra spice to make their pie a touch different. That was my gripe with the recent my newgrounds is that it didnt really have that extra kick to it in its presentation.

dont get it twisted, i think its a great thing for newgrounds to be very spirited and i know nothing makes tom more happy than have people be PROUD to be part of the site. its great...

sorry if i came out ranty.

"Xmas"
Is anyone else offended by the use of "xmas" to replace Christmas? Being Christian, i see the X being used as a way to cross out Christ. Like its an attempt to further remove Jesus and religion from the background of Christmas all together.

no flame plz kthnx

I was subjected to this teaching too in Lutheran school, and was told not to. It's just a shorthand way of writing Christ.

When Christians were being persecuted for their beliefs way back when, in order to hold meetings, they would write an X on the wall to symbolize Christ. The X represented the congregation of faith, and meant really nothing to anyone else on the street... so it succeeded to some degree.

So in reality, it was a "We're holding church secretly" sign. So if you want to get offended, the Christian school "DONT CROSS OUT CHRIST" teachings is a bit silly... since it is embedded in Christian history to begin with!

lol i didn't know that. However, most people that i see writing xmas aren't Christian so that kinda rules out the X symbolizing Christ. Aso, even if they were there is no reason to write xmas because of Freedom of Religion.

Xmas vs Christmas

Seriously, why do you care if people say Xmas instead of Christmas? For me it's just like someone typing 'u' instead of 'you', if they enjoy typing like that then let them have fun.
