A sterotypical animator
What would they look like? In my opinion this person would be fairly tall with short spikey brown hair, who wears funky clothes (like a red tie :O) and glasses. What would you say?

(Stereo)Typical Animator/Newgrounds Flash Artist
Probably a very pale, somewhat chubby guy, who spends most of his spare time behind his computer. He's got contacts or glasses as well, because his eyes are messed up from looking at a computer-screen all the time. Most likely he isn't a very social bloke, although he has many friends from the interwubs. When his (small group of) real-life friends succeed in dragging him to the local pub, he'll be the guy who sits silently drinking in the corner, nodding his head ever so slightly to the rhythm of the music which he thinks makes him look pretty cool. He drinks quite a lot too, just to show his friends that he is perfectly capable of drinking large quantities of alcohol as well (the fact that he will puke out his intestines when he's back home doesn't really hinder him at the moment). While he is doing all this he's observing the people around him so he can see on what points he can improve his lip-syncing. The lighting in the pub also intrigues him greatly, he analyses how the colors seem to change at various exposures to light and also what a regular pub looks like, which might come in handy sometime. After he gets back home he will probably take a look at his facebook, twitter, weblogs, and website to see if there are any new comments, which there aren't and that saddens him a little. Writing an angry rant crosses his mind but he figures he is too pissed to give a damn. He will go to bed, wake because he throws up all over the floor and perhaps his bed and fall asleep again (possibly in his own puke). The next day the cycle will continue, apart from the going to the pub thing, because that only happens once a month. Meaning he'll try to animate or draw all day, which fails because the interwubs distracts him.

What?

I should clarify; by 'idiots' I meant the sort of people who leave reveiws like "OMG NO PLOT THIS SUCKS BLAMBLAMBLAMBLAMBLAM", regardless of other merits. I've no problem with people who can see the appeal in something even if they don't personally like it.

Which is how I refer to them as well. Synonyms I also use are "the voting masses", "the unclean and uneducated" and "thirteen year olds with stolen copies of Flash" and the great euphamism "the target audience"

Make no mistake I hate mostly everyone who can't see merit in something just because they dislike it.

As for not being able to tell an epic... well... why can't we? Cold Hard Flash shows that a lot more Flash work is pervading our media. It's something we could all aim for. At 12fps you get just over twenty minutes of footage thanks to the frame cap (so most people will opt to animate about 10 minutes at 24 if they were going after an epic), but nothing's stopping us from chaining our Flash animations so they stream load in one swf after the other from external files (to say nothing of the billions of workarounds you could manage against the frame cap).

Come on. Let's make an Epic. Just the regs.

And win Daily Second because we submit on the same day as the next Brackenwood film

My problem

Its a problem thats been bugging me for years that i'll probably never get over. It's not bad or anything, just bugs me sometimes. Well I just feel like I think things through too much and I get too ahead of myself. Like I think about massive projects and things that I want to happen to me, years before I'd think it be possible. What's even more annoying is that thinking about these things, inhibits me from doing any actual work. Is it good to think of these far-fetched goals so I'd be more determined to make them come true, or am I just thinking far out of my league to build myself up to failed expectations and disappointment? I've never been a very productive person.

I always think of you guys as variations of my personality and sharing something along the lines of my social status.

Like that kid who everyone knows who breaks social awkwardness and despite his affiliation with kids considered popular he has no problem making friends with someone with a good personality regardless of their social ranking. Pretty outspoken and is open to share their interests and generally isn't ashamed of what they do. Put yourself out there and don't really care what people think about you, even if it it is generally positive. And you are willing to miss a couple parties a year in order to have a quiet night relaxing and animating every once in a while.

I bet the coders are the nice good guy kind of people that not that many people know, but probably should, loyal but try to keep their hobby secret.

how close is that

Considering cloths and fashion I see you all from below average-above average looking but no extremes and generally pretty weird fashion sense but in a way that people envy.

But to the general public you're all shutins with no social lives, either over weight or really skinny with terrible acne and your awkwardness especially with chicks oozes through every pore.

RE: (Stereo)Typical Animator/Newgrounds Flash Artist

Eh i dont see anything about stereotypical ng artist to be ashamed of.. ive been a piece of shit for the better part of my life growing up.. i was short, quiet and easy to pick on.. i think that finding the safe haven of NG totally opened up my personality and made me a more confident individual in the real world.

On a related note, I brought in my munny to work yesterday and people would walk by and be like omagad that looks like you is this what you guys do at this newgrounds you always wear shirts of??

In my head i was like yeah whateva Nukka.... and for a minute i felt like that i was part of that cool group that nobody would ever let me part of.. now i was part of it but also on the high ranks.

Life is good sometimes. The internet is changing, the people who are part of the internet is changing... people like to cling on stereotypes for as long as they possibly can because thats all they have to live by when they dont understand something.. its only a matter of time before that sliver of hope fades for them though. change is coming.

It's funny how if you do something that has to do with the internet, like web games, or flash animations, people just sort of think it's cool. I think it's because most people don't know jack shit about the internet, or programming, or web games... so they see it and just attribute it to some hidden knowledge and skill that you have that they do not, which forces them to approve, because they don't know how you do it, like drawing, for people who can't draw, simple drawings are awesome to them.

Stereo Ng person

I would have to disagree with the fat statement, because fat people, who aren't fat by genetics or build or whatever eat in order to relieve emotional stress, but I think bloggers and forum goers relieve stress by signing on to talk to and be accepted by people who have something in common with them, from the safety of their desk. I can agree with social awkwardness and paleness.

Too much dill.

So for the last few months I've had this pile of dill sittin' ontop of my ol' school 80's microwave. Just lettin' it dry I guess.. or whatever. Anyway I realized I'm not pickling anything anytime soon and I have all this dill. Sure a lil' dill in the cupboard is good for when I'm cooking somethin' that needs it. Though the only thing I really cook is instant junk. Bottum line I got this load of dill and no idea what to do with it. My one friend suggested I eat it, another says light it on fire, and my mother thinks I should save it.
I'm not sure what to do... What do you guys think? What would you do with a bunch of dill?

Dill.
I do have a growing urge to light it on fire... Fatty pasta sauce sounds nice. I do need more meat on my bones. But trying to sell it downtown? I could get the wrong poeple pissed at me but I like the sound of that. My Cams gay and can only record 1 min top. I think I'll get ahold of a friiend and see what we can do. We'll try selling some and then I'll store some in the cupboards and lite the rest on fire. :)

I think it's an American thing :/ I've never heard of it.

<wikipedia>
Dill (Anethum graveolens) is a short-lived annual herb. It is the sole species of the genus Anethum, though classified by some botanists in the related genus Peucedanum as Peucedanum graveolens (L.) C.B.Clarke.

BURN IT

Medicinal value - Dill is an herb effective for the treatment of colic, gas, and indigestion.

EAT IT

I have heard of dill before we call it 'dille' (I know. Impressive). I suggest you save some to put in your food, cut the rest into tiny pieces and sell it as cannabis to young people who can't tell the difference.

I agree, I feel there will be alot more young people (more than now) who seem more professional, and more people from poorer countries (do people call them LEDCs?) who get computers because they are becoming cheaper. Soon people won't think of people who spend all the time on the computer as chubby and don't like to talk to people, they will think of them as professional and intellectual.

my opinion

They used to call me souled...

School Shooting in Finland
For fucks sake, and another school shooting. Most of you have probably already heared about this, but to those of you who haven't: info, plus some info on the killer (password: fok). Apparently 2 girls, 5 boys and a female teacher have died during a school shooting in Finland. The killer tried to commit suicide, which he survived. He's critically injured and being treated in some hospital. He also posted plans for the attack on internet the morning before he did it, including video's of him shooting his gun on youTube. These kind of people never cease to amaze me how incredibly stupid humans are. I felt like I was stabbed with a knife when I was reading some of the info on the killer. I hope the fucker survives and rots away in prison for the rest of his life.

I just read some of the school shooter's writings. He sounds sane, and actually makes valid points, but some extreme points also. Which i don't agree with.
For example:

Totalitarian governments rule people through education system, consumerism, mass media, monopoly on the legitimate use of physical force (police, military) and laws discriminating people who think differently than the majority. Democracy... you think democracy means freedom and justice? You are wrong. Democracy is a dictatorship of the moral majority... and the majority is manipulated and ruled by the state mafia. Modern western democracy has nothing to do with freedom or justice; it is totalitarian and corrupted system. Laws are made over the heads of the people and people are being brainwashed to support the system and connected to the institutional structures immediately after their birth. Societies are being ruled by manipulative and charismatic politicians who only care about the interests of majority, and who do not base their decisions on reason but emotions and feelings of the masses. These masses let the authorities of state to make all the important decisions for them. The masses will get an education, they study, get a job, go to work and vote in elections. They think they are free and don't criticise or question the system. They have become robots. It is like a constructed mechanism in mind, that leaves little choice for an individual to think, talk and act independently.

I mean, i kind of see where he is coming from and it has given me a different view on democracy. Although he is extreme he makes a perfectly valid point.

But then he says things like:
Of course there is a final solution too: death of entire human race. It would solve every problem of humanity. The faster human race is wiped out from this planet, the better... no one should be left alive. I have no mercy for the scum of earth, the pathetic human race.

Which makes me think. Yeah you have some valid points but your fucked up, you have problems.

Too much for the reg lounge? Maybe politics board? :/
