Uploaded it again. Won't be there for long I reckon. It's basically just some info on the guy, including a video of him shooting an apple, his 'motives' and his 'plan of attack'. linky.
Also, 1000th post. Yay, only took me two-and-a-half years.

Man, two years of work and a score on 3.85.. You must've expected more?
I feel sorry for you, so I'll go and vote 5 on it now :P

I have to say, that score is an outrage. That game deserved MUCH higher. I've always said it in the past, never go by the NG voting system. It's a pretty weak voting system to begin with and in addition it caters more to movies. Anyway, shame on the system.
I know you would never do this, but don't determine how good your game is based on the crummy voting system. I thought it was a great game.

after the hundreds of under-judgment-viewers have voted, the few daily fifens from the author hardly make an impact

Hey guys. If you look at my submitted flashes, this kid from my co-author list seems to have added me as part of this stupid submission of his. My questions for you are: where the co-author list page is, so I can remove the guy from my "friends" (I know we've gone over this plenty of times, but I always forget) and if there's a way I can completely get rid of my supposed involvement with the flash.

That kinda was the intention. Just stand on the corner, looking shady, and ask people if they "wanna score some primo dill, yaknowhatahmsayin?"...

Naa. Just too old to remember that old kids show The Herbs. Dill was the dog.

Money from ads
So me and some friends are making a gaming website as a school project (KungFuGaming). A while back ago we made a poll about it here on NG as it's one of the requirements in this project, and now we would like your help again :)
Our current assignment is to make a rough calculation of how much we expect to earn on this (the project is about running a company for a year), but none of us have any experience in making money from ads on websites so it would be really great if you guys could help us out with some figures on how much you earn with ads on your site, how many visitors you have and what ad program you're using.
We will also use MochiAds for our games (they will only show up when the game is played on another site than ours), so some figures on what you can earn on that would be nice as well.
Thanks in advance :)
At 11/7/07 07:14 PM, DreamworX wrote: blah
Idk, but have some non-obtrusive ads (Google is favoured by a lot of people) to fit in with your site, but don't overdo it or people will go BYE BYE FLASH.
On a side note I fucking HATE Mochi ads, they are the worst kind of ads ever.. it's like going to the cinema except cinema ads are good. Ffs stop using them peeeps.
Sup, bitches :)
Luis is still a level 2 D:
I just thought up something: MSPaint made completely in flash.
Idea sucks, but thats all I can think of. Comments?
Glaiel
I just played the game. It was really fun, and it's great to see that TwinsenDude is still involved with the ng scene.
lol at someone thinking blockslide 2 needs boobs
If that's the intellect of the average NG user then no wonder it's score is like that.

Blockslide 2
We've been over the more work = sometimes lower score subject before... but 3.66 for this? It's just wrong. Deserves at least a 4.00 I think. 5/5 from me.
But another topic is porn. An example was just a while ago a simple hentai slideshow for FMA won daily 4th I think it was and it required just basic gotoAndPlay buttons.. I think we can agree that, thats not right. However when you see work from someone like ZONE-SAMA or a talented artist which provides good stuff it deserves a high score. However good or bad adult material tends to be voted up on a lot. What are yous guyses opinions on this? Even if you ain't a fan of the stuff. (lol NGers that don't like porn. XD)

aww damn it, can someone tell me how to get the picture to show :( i was never good at that
Dude, Newgrounds practically posts pictures for you, you just need to be a little more observant and/or literate.
Theres an "Include Picture?:" thing with a "Browse..." button there, click that button and find your image, viola; instant gratification. Just needs to be within the size limits of NG.
..::sleeping luis surrounded by trash and money::..
That's just sad, really. I was expecting something with a bit more pwnage... but that actually sucked. I'm really disappointed in Pox right now.
..::finnish school shooting::..
That's really depressing. The things people are capable of amazes me. I think about these things a lot, I wonder if something went differently in my life would I be capable of that level of cruelty? I'm certain that I could.

HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM
Ok so I was debating this morning wether to put my foot down or not and after some thought I am.
In the past few pages the quality of discussion has really gone down and i think the whole picking on bmk or which one of will be the next serial killer shit is just in bad taste.
We've discussed what to do with a pile of dill, which one of us could be the next mass murderer and even i contributed with that stupid picture of me. So there even I am part of the problem.
SO in an effort to regain some control and some more lounge-like talk.. can we like raise the level of intelligence of the topics a bit?? granted i know its newgrounds.... but lets atleast make an effort at being more capable of good conversation than our general forum counterparts...
This lounge is getting kind of disappointing... i feel like people are scraping the bottom of the barrell looking for someone to get in argument with.
I deleted a bunch of posts. Report me to wade if you have a problem.

Productive Enviroment.
When you work on flash do you work better in certaint enviroments or do you do anything special to get you motivated to work faster? I sometimes enjoy listening to music late at night, or just having my window open in the morning so I can hear the peaceful sounds of the birds. I perfer to work in the dark too for some reason. If the lights on and theirs no music, or the tv or something is on I get annoyed/distracted and can't work as long as I normally can. I sometimes have a small cigar or some Gin mixed with orange juice to help came me down if I'm stressed from working too much. I even take 2 min breaks to browse every 20 mins or so. I find after playing a huge game project like Blockside 2 or NGR, or watching amazing animations like stuff by Adam Phillips gets me motivated. Durring the off days when I don't want to work on anything period and am bored and don't know what to do I might watch some anime. The actual animation in anime is what attracts me to it and I find the hardcore animes can really get me pumped up.
Anyway I usually have the room dark, sit on my bed infront of the computer so I can lay back and take a break every few hours, and usually have an ashtray and a small pack of Captain Blacks sweets near by.
So what's your guyses work enviroment like?
RE: School shootings
Meh, people generally aren't evil. They just get caught up in really stupid and fucked up ideas, like the lives of the world's population being worthless.

A real desk and keyboard help a lot. Beyond that, disabling the wireless card in my computer results in 400% increase in productivity. I really can't back that number, but the internet is the number 1 distraction to getting anything done around here.
Also constantly having something to munch on is a good way to stay fat and happy.
Hi there!
AS3
Who here uses/knows it? I know of Paranoia and Delta (and I think Glaiel), but other than that I think we're alone, which is a shame, as it is a great, useful, fast language. People have really got to take it up.

After I've finished my Java-programming for uni (hopefully this week), I'm planning to try to pick it up. Java has given me some insight in object orientated programming and I bought myself some books on AS3 so I hope it won't be such an immense failure as when I tried to learn AS2.

Ya, Blockslide 2 was my last AS2 project cause it was started so long ago. AS3 from now on man.
AS3 has so much more potential, and is a lot cleaner to work with. Before anyone argues about the extra typing and such, just think that the new emphasis on OOP will make it a lot easier to work with as we get more comfortable using AS3. It's a good move not allowing code on MCs anymore (although on buttons would be nice...), because it makes it a lot more organized in the end.
Also, new MovieClip() is SO MUCH better than attachMovie.
It's a much cleaner language.
heya... I've had more fucking computer problems.
Been without a computer for the past 3 weeks. I'd gotten a new iMac and that broke down within a few weeks of usage. My brother's clunky IBM-compatible was a workable solution, until that broke a few days later. Because of difficulties getting new parts, the Mac still hasn't been fixed. Yesterday I got a minimac as a temporary replacement though. Which at least lets me get on with all the work I've got to do, due next week.
I have renewed hatred of PCs in general (Macintosh or IBM-compatible) and fresh hatred of the Apple 'it just works' adverts. Bullshit, ya bastards.
Anything new here? Has no-one scrawled over Paranoia's name in the manufactured 'sig war' then?

Crap Tutorials
Somehow, some noobs think that the first thing to make is a tutorial. I was just pissed off by this one, who was teaching things completely wrong (his tutorial is here - reading it is funny). He says, after giving a code:
"I'm not sure what ClipEvent means, but you should know on already from other tutorials. (load) will load your movieclip and the rest is obvious".
Its crazy.

They steal the codes and hints from other tutorials, because stealing code and putting it on a page isn't very hard. It makes them think they're smart.

Very good example, the guy doesn't even know what a ClipEvent is. He just wants the little bit of fame in the tutorial collection.
I love his drag and drop explanation...

Anyway, i agree completely with you, if you are going to teach someone something, do it right.
AS3
I could do an engine in AS3 reasonably quickly, but i don't have CS3, and i can't be arsed to fiddle around with flex. I do like as3 though, i know what you mean by it is neater. If i look at one of my old as2 games, it takes me 20 mins or so to get back to grips with it, but i can automatically understand something made in as3 (normally).

Ey, what are you complaining about? Theres plenty of decent tutorials on NG, and even if not NG, the WEB..?
Bad tutorials are what new people are SUPPOSED to make, not played NG Sim..?
Re:Productive enviroment
Good question the Criminal Dooder. Ill have to post some pictures of my new setup now that ive moved house, its class!
I find, and others have said this too - that working in the dead hours of the night is the best. I dont know why. Maybe we're all a product of our enviroment (here) and for that reason are a bunch of insomniacs who have to work at night? Further investigation is needed - get on it people.
I find that if I lift weights then come to animate, it comes easier to me i assume because me arms are working nicely.
Shall discuss more when I got a picture of my new setup. :)
