I fucking want that. While on video games, I know I've brought this up before but do any of you play Battlefield 2, besides Dep?
Digital Audio Recording
My band has been thinking of recording some songs for a while, so I thought I'd post on the bbs to see if any of you losers knew anything about the equipment. Something that matches low price with high quality is obviously preferable, thanks.

Yeah, my band uses an Alesis firewire mixer, it rocks. We have a full mic set for drums and everything, and line 6 products for recording guitar.
Also, HI RAEEEEEE

Cool. How do you guys like Line 6? I always used Marshall products for my guitar.
hey rae
I was wondering, how exactly do you start a collab? Do you need to have at least 3 submitions?
From one n00b to thousands of better authours.

To find your BA, search for yourself with the search bar, put your cursor over your avatar and the batting average will show up.
You need to specify the stage size, the FPS, and the theme at least. You need to have commitment and good grammar so everyone understands you.
Thanks, I hope I didnt sound like a n00b. BTW, Can anyone tell me how my animations are?

Also, don't mass advertise here, this thread is mostly for discussion for Flashers off the Flash topic because General sucks.
Oh, that was my fault. One more little thing. With two authors, is that concidered a collab?

Collab is one of many words from the newgrounds vernacular. It's short for collaboration, meaning a product resulting from working together, especially in a joint intellectual effort. So, yeah, any flash piece incorporating the work of two or more artists is considered a collaborative effort.
n00bs are fun xp

Yeah, I cannot tell you how much time I've spent on that. It's unhealthy!

Call geeksquad. They always know what's wrong, the only bad thing is that there too fucking expensive!
I played BF2 for a while. Still have it and all. Spent most of my time sniping. I'll probably hit it up again some time.

Yo, I'm dying to play you in Halo 3. Still haven't got that fucking game!
Portal: FLash Version
This Game is absolutely incredible. I finally beat it. Oh my god it's so much fun. I doubt it compares to the real Steam version but this little flash remake is perfect. The levels are perfectly challenging and unlike most puzzle game I didn't end up hating it because it was so hard.
Has anyone else played all the way through level 40?

Yes and then some, I went back and played a few more levels. It is indeed a very cool game, very cool, I loved it, there was nothing I could complain about. There was one level where you could shoot the portal through a slot you weren't supposed to be able to, skipping the whole level, I dunno if anyone else tried and found that, but it's true.
Its a good game.. i think i made it till level 6.
SHUT IT.

I dont play much (college/work/random shit), so getting a game together would be hard, and because i dont play much, i kinda suck. lol. But we'll see what we can do.

Oh dear. Okay, you can stop reading this post now with the answer that I'm pro choice and that I think Shortmonkey's responses in that thread are cold, unfeeling and in my opinion wrong if you want. It doesn't count as alive until that umbillical cord is cut in my opinion. Until then, it's a parasitic symbiot that just happens to share half your DNA.
Personally I'm not convinced that someone carrying a to-soon-be-alive kid in thier stomachs they don't want is any more civilised than stabbing it in the head with a stick and dragging it out prematurely. The world is suffering already from extreme overcrowding, people born into houses that don't want them and can't support them tend not to grow up to become valuable members of society and I have issues with the idea of raising someone else's child that they didn't want. It'd be better to cull it before it even has sentience and a life of it's own to take rather than kill it or put it into a reality that doesn't even want it.
I know the arguments for and against it, I know the violinist kidney sharing theory and the Beethoven issue and all of the other textbook arguments from all the worlds major religions, but at the end of the day the thing is not have an effect on me for a long while - I'm an agnostic single, non-sexually active male - so I can afford to have a blase pro-choice look about it, if only because I know that when someone wants to abort, they tend to have a damn good reason, and don't really see it as emergancy contraception.

Side note. My coworker's just taken paternity leave because he's now the father of a baby girl, and I'm happy for him. I demand a topic change because my god this is going to turn the thread into a flame war...

Does anyone get a feeling that when they've made everything for a scene, they're not happy with it and decide to just let the flash go with all the millions of unfinished .flas because they weren't happy with it? I'm always a bit negative with my work and usually hate it after a day in working with it when everybody else usually likes it...
I guess that's what happens when you start to touch up your images in Photoshop and then your standards for art in your mind go up.
That's just the simple drive of an artist. The urge to do better. For example, I've changed my style of art over eight times in the last yeah because I just couldn't find one I was happy with. Same with BG art. So after half a year of experimenting, researching, and trying out different programs for different effects(like photoshop :P). I came to one resolve... Do what feels right then make it better. As they say their is always room for improvment. I never even imagined learning Action Scripting because I saw no point in it and didn't want to make any games. However, I ended up taking a crash course in it through The AS Main and now I actual understand some of it and am makin' games now too.
I have too many unfinished projects. Some I completely forget about or scrap. Others are side projects I just don't pay much attention to. I'm also negative with my work. When I look back at all the flash I've made so far I'm disappointed and can't pick out one I'd be proud of showing off because I feel I could do better.
Maybe over time our standards are just raising for whatever reason. But is that really a bad thing? I may have negative feelings towards some of my work but as long as I'm still happy animating and programming I see know problem with it.

I did. And I had me some cake. I didn't think it was that hard. I could solve all the puzzles easily, the only thing that was frustrating occasionally was excuting the path I had set, which I eventually did. I was stuck on 35, I think, for a while because I had to get the timing on one portal jump JUST RIGHT and I'd miss it and zap myself.
Angryfaic
I actually have it bookmarked. someone sent it to me. I didn't realize it was a secret.

Lulz old accounts :P
Well, in honesty, this isn't my first account. I first had "Jaabee24" and "TheGreatBlueMischief", but I never used the latter. Both from 03/04 time era :3 It's fun when people get into the sign-up date fights and I prove to them that I have actually been there longer XD

All I'll say on the matter is; I find it a little hypocrytical that the sort of highly religious types who argue that abortion is murder and so on will argue just as strongly that the body is nothing more than a vessel for the soul, and so meaningless by comparison.
Personally, from a raving infidel's standpoint, I'm of the opinion that actual conciousness and self awareness is much more important than the definition of life that you can slap on a set of biological prerequisites.
I always end up sounding really cold and uncaring on this subject. Meh.
Bf2
I have started playing it. My username is WillyAugusto :)
Games below Movies
On the front page, movies are above games, and have a lot bigger section. I thinks its a bit anti-games, and I think it should be merged together, and then split in half vertically, with movies and games on different sides.
I know Tom justified it by saying that movies are watched more than games, but it cripples the viewing of games, and makes movies watched even more than when they were evenly spread.

Agreed I noticed that as well, a horizontal split would probably be more fair, but then again not really our decision =P...
Lip Syncing
So this is one of those things that I never come to terms with myself, I generally use 6-8 mouths and if I'm not being lazy 3-4 inbetweens that I slap in to make it feel more comfortable... but is that really worth it? I mean it might give more livelyness if you're using static images... but I found 3 mouths and chin movements work just as well and if you don't mention anything, nobody notices.
I sent an old collab part one character has 3 mouths and chin movements the other uses 6... everyone stated that both looked equally in sync...
Is it worth spending a large amount of time to lip sync perfectly?
At 10/16/07 01:51 PM, NextToNothing wrote: Is it worth spending a large amount of time to lip sync perfectly?
Somewhat... i think that its less about lip sync but more of the body gestures and eyebrows and other manerisms... i dont really mind artists who recycle mouths i do think a lip sync is sold through the body dimeanor.. you have to sell it... just swapping mouths alone doesnt quite do it.. its streamlined but you fail as an animator if youre not making it believable and engaging.

That's I was kind of hinting at... It's like both these lip syncs took the same amount of time, but the second one seems much more believable despite being 3 mouths...
http://www.ngup.net/view.php?file=lipsyn c_comparison
even though neither are good examples of lip syncing or character animation I think it gets the point across...
but then someone like hayasa obviously spends a huge amount of time lip syncing and it turns out great and adds a feeling of livelyness... it definetly brings something to the table that body movements couldn't... right?
I think I might try limiting lip sync and providing more body movements and see how that goes... see if it makes things more lively and emotive...
Lip Syncing
I think it's worth it. I mean, Look how it pays off in Tankmen. Completely worth it.
Sometimes you can get away with looped mouthings, but not too often. Also, the second sync looks WAAAAAAAY better than the first. In fact, the first borderline sucked.
