My stationary computer is a Dell as well, a Dimension 4700, and I too have had a lot of problems with it lately.. It freezes constantly, like, everything just stops and it doesn't respond to anything. The only way to restart is by holding in the power button for a few seconds, or by hitting it on the right side (if I do this it restarts directly).. XD
I've tried removing and reinstalling most of the hardware, but the computer is like 3-4 years old and even when it was new it was not that great, so I'm probably going to buy a new very soon. Lucky I have a decent laptop so that I can work Flash at least, it can be really frustrating working on a computer that needs to be restarted every five minutes or so :P
Bravia Ad
Everybody has probably already seen this, but they made a new Bravia ad (no direct link, sorry), which unfortunately doesn't air on television over here. I really like the Bravia ads, they use really simple things to create a very rich and colorful advertisement, really something else than the usual BUYOURPRODUCTSFORTHEBENEFITOFYOURCHILDRE NKTHX!-ads. Oh, and it's even animation related, since everything is stop-motion.

The answer to this is:
Dells Suck.
I've had so much trouble with this one, plus all the pointless software they put on here like wild tangent that is borderline spyware :|. Gah, Last time Dell sees my dollas.

That ad was created by Passion Pictures but they're getting a lot of shit for it because it's supposedly a rip-off of design work by Kozyndan. Article
Either way, it's an awesome spot and very well made.

New Compy
I just started using my new computer I had sitting in my room for a month. Everything runs so fast and smooth. I can actually play most games at high quality with no lag. I hope it stays that way after I transfer my files. :-P
Anyway, Its an XP I got custom built at this place that uses top quality parts. By top quality I mean, more expensive than it should be. Oh well, hopefully that means it will be longer before it breaks down. At least its a million times better than my family's old 2002 one.
..::Bravia ad::..
Damn that's an awesome commercial. I guess I don't watch the right TV shows because I've never seen any Bravia ads. All the commercials I see are for cars and banks and visa cards and insurance and other tv shows.
..::computers lifespan::..
I'm pretty sure the general public does not replace their computer after only 3 or so years. My laptop is probably about 5 years old and it still works great. It runs the programs I use without any trouble and I don't intend on replacing it until it breaks down. It seems like throwing away your money to keep on the bleeding edge of technology, especially since pretty much everything, apart from games, can run fine on an older system. If you absolutely have to play the latest games, you might as well get a console with most games being cross platform now.

A power surge could've short circuited a component. Its possible that it isn't entirely broken.

Cooking
So, before I did some research, I wanted to be a chef.
All my life, cooking has been a passionate hobby I've kept with. Like today, I made the most fucking delicious applesauce I think I have ever tasted. The way that I mixed the Citric Acid to magnify the tartness of the granny smith apples and I partnered that with sugar to enhance the sweetness of the galas turned out to be fucking perfect.
I wish I could mail a small jar to each one of you... :c
So, is there anyone else here who likes to cook. I mean, I fucking love tasty food, so that's a halfway point, but the best part is being able to cook it yourself... which may be why I am a fat kid :P

Unfortunately I'm not artistic when it comes to cooking. I like cooking slightly more extravagent dishes than what I possibly could get away with (and not owning a microwave stops me being lazy), but I'm not genuinely artistic with it - I still follow the instructions.
Dead webcomics everyone should have read by now
I reread the archives of two of my favorite webcomics again recently. It's a shame that for the most part they were both finished by the time I finished my first year of university, and that not much has topped them since in my personal opinion.
1/0 is a twisted little comic that never closed it's fourth wall - the characters freely talk with thier creator, and this actually leads them to some worrying philosophical conclusions at times. At one point they decide to strike against him. Lasts for exactly one thousand strips. Which isn't bad for a comic whos universe was made out of a dead bear stolen from a Sluggy Freelance comic...
The other comic should appeal to every spriter in the forum for its originality. Kid Radd can only be described as a webcomic version of ReBoot, following characters who get ejected from thier emulated games into the Internet, with 99% of the sprited characters sprites drawn and animated by the comic's author with no obvious real game basis. It is also worthy of your six hundred and one strips of reading time because of just HOW the guy gets away with doing full page animations using only animated gifs and table based html (woah, what is this Web 2.0 stuff?), and still manages to keep the page loading at speeds everyone here should be jealous of for thier movies.
Newgrounds gets a single panel reference in Kid Radd too during the ninja's flashback.
Originality in under two thousand comic strips. Worth the read.

RE: Computer Lifespan
My computer's just about to hit the two-year mark, although I've upgraded the video card and installed a sound card and new RAM within the last year. The processor is my bottleneck, but if I change that I might as well buy a decent motherboard, and by then I might as well upgrade everything else and get a new case.
because 3.2 ghz is just SOOO slow lol....
Are the specs of your comp?
I've been thinking about getting a pc simply because they're cheaper... when will apple let non macs run osx ='(
I'd be so happy to get a top of a line computer for about a grand rather than hoping for my dad's office handmedowns... oh well I'm happy with my current computer (2.0 ghz 2gigs ram nice graphics card) just wish it was intel based for parellels oh well....

I really enjoyed reading through road waffles.
..::cooking::..
While I don't particularly like eating I'm a decent cook when I choose to be. What I really like is baking though, baking bread, baking cookies, brownies, pies... etc. Baking is where it's at. I've also started to get into confectionery, got myself a candy thermometer even, now I just need the motivation to make candy.

Cooking
I do not really enjoy cooking but I have been made to cook one a week for my family for like 10 years so I am know basic shit.
I am not about to shatter a myth. "French people know how to make really great food".
This is a complete lie. I am sure there are some French people that know how to cook really well but not all of them. I live with 4 french people and none of them ahve ever cooked in their lives. They mostly know how to cook stuff but they dont have a very good concept of meals in general. Once they made a salad with cucumber, rice, feta and prawns, wtf is that?
Not bad food, just fucking weird.
NOT a myth: All French girls are hot

I can't imagine making waffles or pancakes without a mix =D or a cake for that matter, to much effort and shit
lol...
My cooking skills basically extend to frozen things and grilling... I've never actually tried to do proper cooking... Making marinades and barbeque sauces I'm decent at...
