HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!
We're working hard to give you the best site possible, but we have bills to pay and community support is vital to keep things going and growing. Thank you for considering!

Funnyness
So the challenge this week at my youth club was to produce a short, entertaining (funny) film with the theme of Doctor Who. My group completely failed at the theme, but we won overall, and the audience was laughing for pretty much the entire duration of the video; however, I'm just wondering how much of it is genuinely funny, and not just "haha, I know that guy" funny. So this is the video. What do you guys think?
(if you're wondering, I only appear for a few seconds right at the end, as I was filming it, I also edited it all together and cut out all the bits that were TOO stupid...)
...
Funny
Our youth group did the same thing a while ago.
This one I came up with a good portion of the idea (though I don't appear). The guy who says the end is my good friend and bandmate steve. It's a parody of Narnia. The ice queen's bill cosby and the lion has a stoma.
The following year, sadly, I didn't attend. But the same group made an even better video. This one's a parody of the Rocky movie that was coming out. (A little Turkish Delight joke makes it in there, which makes me smile).

I liked your submissions about 'Flash'. They were very well animated, well done.
RE: eric bauman
For the record he was always a millionaire selling his company only causes him to collect a chunk up front and give away future possible profits... or losses... i think he probably realized that its all going to come tumbling down soon and sold it to some company stupid enough to pay a large amount of money for what is esentially a large scale lawsuit waiting to happen.
I bet it was some group of investors that know nothing about the scene or the fact that he gets his content the way he does.. they looked at the numbers his site makes and thought it was a no brainer. I think if Eric was smart he'd have some fine print that totally whipes his hands off the site in every way possible.. typically with large pricetag sites the owner sticks around for a little bit as chairman and then bows out .. if you were to just take the money and run you'd likely scare off some one investing so much in it.. i think its anything but clear sailing for that guy..

Its just a weird mistake. If you click on it, it says it never existed.

What game?
And if it's old, why are you just finding out now?
Who is sponsoring it?
Eric Bauman
That's total crap. I'm still curios as to WHY he hasn't been sued out of his brains yet.
How has he gone this long without anyone coming down on him HARD??
Whoever bought the site off him is an idiot, I sorta feel sorry that they may get hit for all the shit Eric did.
If he gets away with all that money without any lawsuits in the near future, I say we send Pico after him...

I personally dont mind eric that much, ive havent seen a case of him decompliling someones flash and sticking his logo on it, or tampering with the swf an anyway. and if it says presented by ebaumsworld, it doesnt really mean heclaiming posession over it, i mean newgrounds does that too.
newgrounds doesnt flat out take your work and slap it on the site... i dont remember tom ever poking around the web and just taking shit without even asking or atleast telling you that hes taking it. Eric doesnt even have the grace to tell you what hes taking from you he just takes it...
i dont care if theres smaller sites that DO that... it doesnt make it right and doing so is a very frowned upon move.. granted Eric is completely spineless and could care less about artists.
its insulting you even compare ebaums to newgrounds

He was sued a year ago by Noogai who made Animator vs. Animation. I'm not sure what happened, by I think Bauman tried to bribe him or something, then the case was given up or something. I remember I saw Go! on their with all the Newgrounds and sponsorship logos.

I have to agree with Luis. The whole concept of taking others' possessions is so juvenile and - though I do not know Eric - all I can imagine is an immature prick.
You can view his stealing as some extra publicity for your work, but really it's as simple as the guy profiting off your efforts! Would it be okay for websites offering free tutorials to steal from one another and slap THEIR company picture on some other site's hard work?
It truly is insulting to compare the two

Welll i wouldnt go that far with it.. the internet is changing and places like YouTube and other sites realize that the money recirculates when you DO let people take things to their site...
the internet is viral and alive and people will find a way to get what they need, but with a site as high profile as his he could atleast invest money in a system where he would drop you an email to tell you he is taking it... i mean when someone takes you youtube you can atleast track it down... he has tons of my shit and ive never made an account or even visited ebaums before.. i dont have the energy to fight for something i would give up anyway ... im all for sharing my work.. is it too much to ask to be told when you are using my work?? its a decency issue.. atleast have a slice of respect for the artist is all im saying. I mean im paying you bills ATLEAST gimmie a shout out to say hay thanks for giving me a chance to be a millionare. A real person made the work he takes.. that concept evades him.
And dont tell me to get mochi or whatever cause it should be the person taking who should take two mins out of their day to let you know they took it.

I didn't mean to sound that aggressive - all I'm saying is that it shows no respect at all for a person when you ignore/exploit their hard work without even asking

I'm a designer and writer in Chicago. I've been published seven times for random junk. My first attempt at comedy can be found here: The Up To No Goods Web Series.

Apparently, Animator vs Animation's creator, threatened to sue. And Ebaum bribed him with 1250$ to not sue, he could have gotten more but the author really needed the money. Understandable.
Lame.

I agree with Luis here. As little as I like the fact that hundreds or thousands of content stealing sites still manage to milk the Flash scene for all the ad income it's worth, mainly because people are too ignorant to realise that sites like Newgrounds which both credit the author fully, punish people who submit stolen content as a major part of site policy and don't plaster ads left right and center on their pages are out there, it's a fact, and since they're all cock slapping each other to get the most stuff swiped and plastered on their sites each day it's unrealistic to expect them to wait for permission on every one of them, particularly when a large proportion of the authors are of the 'take the sponsor money and bugger off' variety.
But the fact that they give no heads up or indication to the author whatsoever is nothing short of inconsiderate. The way most of these sites work, you'd think that games came out of vending machines or something, and vending machines where they don't have to pay shit for anything at that. I mean, last game I made ended up on something like 100 urls. Of those two e-mailed me for permission before hand. Three were submitted by me to my website or accounts, and one was my last minute sponsor. So, that's 95% of sites which didn't get in touch with me before adding the game.
Not only that, but the remainder didn't even contact me after adding it. Now I can understand them not having time to wait for authors to respond to their e-mails, sure, but what excuse is there for not at least sending an e-mail out saying something like 'Your game had been added to x. If for any reason you wish it removed, contact y and it will be dealt with promptly. We appreciate your hard work'. Even something automated would be a start. Anything other than the sweet sod all we see now.
So yeah, people who make money off of the backs of guys they don't even remotely seem to appreciate suck.
NG is a community.
Ebaums is a money-pumping machine.
Well of course I don't like what eric has done, but damn he just got a perfect start in life. He's not even 25 and now he's going to get a job while knowing that he won't experience any financial problems for the rest of his career. He's a jerk n' all that but I gotta say he's very smart, surely someone who knows how to make profit from the internet.

I know, its sad now.
I used to always check out the user of the day's page and stuff (also hoping it would be me), but now it's just another section of wasted text added to the screen.
*sigh* :(

On his site RAB 1 is on it, and he decompiled it because on the header and footer there is links to umop.com etc, but on his site it's gone.
Aah lets not discuss eBaums world.
I have a question for you. If some of you feel bad about 'stuff being stolen by ebaums and milked for your money etc etc', then how do you feel about Tom making lots of money here..?

Here we subit movies knowingly, and aware that tom will make money from us. However as the site is so popular we certainly benefit too!
