It looks sorta weird.

I think that it looks like a pretty damn stupid game if it came out now, but I think the fact that it came out a fairly long while ago (I think), makes it much better. I mean, most games were like shit back then...look at sonic. But then there were always the classic games, like Mario and other games like that.

Yeah the Snes/Genesis era was a good one There are tons of great games for them both. But we can not forget that they had their stinkers too... When reminiscing we tend to only focus on the great games and forget about the many shitty games that came out as well...

My Flash site? You mean the dynamic page? Heh, well I've pretty much given up on coding games, so probably never. Maybe I'll spark up some interest later, but it's going to be that way for the foseeable future. Kind of like the NG redesign... 99% and holding.

Odds are I'll be making more movies before making games. But I don't really have the inspirattion to do either.

I'm back for upper VIth next year, so some peeps decided it would be a good idea to come back for four weeks between the AS exams and summer and get a start on next year's coursework now, which makes sense I guess. Plus we're not doing it in the subject I'm dropping, which is a stroke of luck.

How can I expand the grey area outside the stage in Flash 8? I'm coding a platform game and there's a few movieclips which are outside of the area I can physically scroll to.

i think if you just draw at the edge of the grey area it gets longer

Flash for Money and Motivation

I agree with everything jtmb2 said. Being able to know people like playing your game and your providing something thats fun for people is great, that warm fuzzy feeling i guess...whatever the hell that is :P

If you start Flash straight off for money it's kinda a bit ridiculous as them people make cheap copies of things, kills the creativity side. As long as you like making games and put effort into them then it's great to make money, but the main reason is too see your stuff come alive and do what you enjoy :)

The main reason I do it is I have tons of ideas and I can use Flash to make the ideas in your head, see them come to life. It's great. Money is just the reason I hope I can keep making this stuff....because if i get a 9-5 job that sucks, your motivation dies and I have no energy to make Flash at night when you get back.

Motivation is the key....99% of people that say they wish they could do Flash can, it's just they gotta put time into it and the starting off is the hardest bit. If your determined, stick at it, do whatever you need to keep refilling your energy :) Usually 3/4 through your flash you lose interest (i do a lot) just grunt through the rest and you'll be proud!!

When I was at cape cod for 2 weeks, every now and then I've been thinking about how much freaking work I have to do this summer to get ready for my senior year, including but not limited to finding out which colleges to apply to, summer community service hours (to stay on NHS), earning eagle scout (I have until next june to do that but I'd rather earn it before I apply to colleges), summer reading/assignments, finding a math course to take next year (i need to take one at the college because there aren't any more at the school for me to take) and there's a bunch of flash games I need to finish up. So ya, thinking about how much work I need to do makes me not want to do it, but I don't want to do any more flash over the summer because I have other things that are more important right now.

Vacation's supposed to make you relax, but this summer is making me more stressed than I ever am during the school year.

There are events every now and again, but no real constant venues, except maybe 'late'n'live' other than that the venues are pretty small. Lol, I think the last Nickolodian festival was held our the pier. Anywho, I'm sure you'll like it here. I live about half a mile from the coast.

I think something is wrong with me. I'm really afraid of heights and when I just see someguy climbing a mountain or something I get a ball in my stomach. The weird thing is I LOVE rollercoasters, I like the big drops and turns and all that.

I don't mind heights too much, and up to last year I hated roller coaster. I mean, I can watch people climb high stuff, but I would never do it myself.

I hate them. I get sick on them really easily. However, oddly enough, I'm not afraid of heights, nor am I afraid of skydiving (Yes, I actually went once... it's extremely fun, they buckle you up and push you out of a plane).

Yar, I used to have quite the fear of heights, and I still sort of do but it's not a full blown phobia anymore. When I'm standing on the precipice of something looking down I have half a mind to hurl myself over for some reason, not because I want to commit seppuku but just because it's there, kind of odd. I DO get vertigo if I look up at the sky though, looking up at the sky really trips me out especially if I'm in some dangerous situation (top of a mountain, say), like gravity might just somehow reverse on me.

Just in case somebody cares, I think I got in the right mood to make flash again :) Too bad I probably wont be able to finish my game in time for the rock out-contest though :/
