Fuck all this money talk. Who honestly partakes in a hobby to make money out of it? I can understand JMTB02 haveing it as his job but some one that does it with a bit of spare time? Trying to do make money out of it is quite terrible really.

On a similar subect i was listening to the raido when the story of this band came on. Thye were sighned to a major label but then dropped them and distributed the album for free. That is amazing. Simply astounding of this age of consumerism. I respect them soooo so much for this and backs up my point. They love what they do and just want people to listen. Same should apply to flash. Do it because you love it. Not for the money.

Think about the big picture! It's so much work making a Flash, granted. It's a huge chunk of your life spent drawing a single frame of animation.

Then it goes into the portal, where people can enjoy, vote, and complement you on it. Even the negative is okay. It gives you something to build off of when you are done, you learn from your mistakes.

And you only get better. Your animation and programming improves, people start to recognize your work and your image gets built. Releases become great days for you, as you start to win portal awards and receive your first really good reviews.

And then its the pride that kicks in. Being able to look back and see what you have done is an amazing view. What other job lets you do that? Sitting at a desk making something that is yours and yours alone is an amazing feeling.

The money is there to pay the bills. The gratification of creating a meanwhile, worthy Flash is where the reward truly is. I do Flash for a living, but I am doing Flash that I believe in and am proud of. I won't send a game to Armor Games or anyone else unless I think it best features my ability and I have tried my best on it.

I had 6,666 posts for at least a week when I went on my lengthy hiatus (thanks for that expansion on my vocabulary, Luis), but when I got back it was around 6,650, so I don't think there's a limit to how long posts can be deleted from. Just threads locked.

Thanks for that jmtb, if that feeling of submitting and releasing games is on-going then I can really be happy with making flashes for a long time :)

My schools got my SATs results, but hasn't given them to us yet. I think I'm getting them tomorrow.

School
I passed all my classes this semester but last one i got a 40 in math. I actually had a 31 half way through (not sure why) but then i pulled it up to a 40. So i'm in summer school and i'm like one of the fastest students there. It's cool because i felt like a retard failing math, but now i just kinda get it so i'm feeling smarter already. only 2 weeks to go until i'm done school.

My summer vaca
Then for my vacation i go to manitouwadge,On ( google it :P ) that's where my dad lives and he has recently bought scuba gear so that's what i plan to learn this year. Then on the 10th of september i'm going to Australia with my grandparents because that's where there from and there like visiting it one last time for old times sakes. And if everything goes to plan i'm gonna be scuba diving in australia reef. i'm going for a couple weeks and will be back to school on the 4th. Hopefully i don't get any hard classes first semester.

awesome! I went down for a night to visit the uni, seems like a really nice place. A LOT nicer than Newport, my 2nd choice.

Whats the music scene like down there? Music is a big part of my life and now I will be living in a much bigger place (currently i live in a village with 4 houses....) Im gonna be going to waaaaay more gigs hopefully. Im into all types of music, but I love metal. Any metal bands play there much?

Vacation

I've had a depressing summer

One friend is ditching for his church folk, another is off at his dads (divorced parents) and the other failed math and is in summer school, so I can't hang out with anyone and then I got too sad to play Wii or make Flash, which going onto Flash made it worse, then I sat for twenty minutes thinking about shit and thinking of how people think of me and kept figuring out no one likes me... then went to go burn random shit in the kitchen (nothing important) then tested a stake knife on my arm and have cuts which my parents think was from the cat... that was yesterday, today was even worse; I watched The Village and Star Wars Episode III. And now it has hit even lower cuz I'm on the BBS posting : (

Yeah it can make money, but only if your a well known author that doesn't really mean your a good one. Anyone who made a joke that for some reason has spread across the net and into the real world can make alot of money off of milking that one joke.
