General mods are being Nazis again...

Linky

Dobio:

I leave for a month, and this shit pops up.

Even if you ARE kidding, this is still a fucking stupid thread that doesn't belong on a site with 13 year olds on it.

Since when was the NG BBS supposed to be family friendly? It was a perfectly valid discussion, even if it may not be within everyone's experience.

Dobio is pretty much a mean guy. I doubt anyone would have been too disappointed if he turned that month leave into a permanent leave.

Concerts
On a brighter note, I went to a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert with my mates a couple of days back. I wasn't expecting a brilliant show because I'd seen some live footage from their concerts on the internet which were kind of disappointing, but heck, they are pretty good live! A lot of great drum and guitar solos and we were only a couple of feet away from the stage (there were 50.000 people there). Anyway, any of you guys ever visit any concerts?

Also, pic.

I generally dislike larger concerts as you lose the intimate feeling of going to a club or smaller venue. The only bands I would really go see at a huge venue are either ones that are dead, stopped playing, or ticket prices are over 100 bucks... so for now larger concerts for me are a no go... but I go to local clubs quite often.

Depression

You guys make me sad, always sucks to hear about how peoples lives can be so drastically changed by a chemical imbalance. You have to give respect to those who deal with it though, with or without medication.
On the other hand it does make me appreciate my state of being in my life.

I miss the weekly animation challenges, I hope Luis will start them again at some point... Please?

A week until the rockout contest deadline scrapped my old game for a better idea, the other one was to frustrating to play... this should be easier

I read another book by Nick Hornby in school a while ago, 'Fever Pitch'. Out of all the book analysis's I wrote in school the past year, 'Fever Pitch' was the only book that I actually read till the end. From this you can figure out two things; I'm not much for books, or school at all (still have great grades though ;D) and that book was darn good :)

Anybody else read it?

I love Nick Hornby, but I haven't read Fever Pitch yet. His books are always unique. I love the setup of "A Long Way Down" even if the different character's perspectives are not exactly individually defined that well. It must be hard to write with four viewpoints in a continuous narrative. Anyway; High Fidelity is one of my favorite books, read it through several times. It has such a great way of telling the story within the male mind, great example of how people think.

Learning How to Draw
Anyone heard of or used the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain? I remembering hearing some good things about it awhile ago but I was wondering if I could get some input from anyone who had first hand use or knows anything about the book.

linkah
now that I just found this website I am reassured it can't be bad, but still...looking for some advise from the BBS.

AIM Actionscripter
Hey, is there anyone who will be on AIM in the next few hours (like 2) and that can help me for a little while with some actionscript. My AIM sn is MichaelR45. i'm hoping that someone will be able to help me. There's no one that I can see that's on right now, but if you are, please IM me!

AIM Name
Is it A.I.M or Aim

It's Aim :P

Drawing Brain
Never seen the book. Looks pretty cool, but it looks like they aren't great artists anyways. I think that it would help someone really bad with drawing, but after a while I think it looks like it would become useless

Drawing
Then I open up the floor to everyone to point out some books that are truly helpful. I know this might sound like I am trying to take someone else's style but I just want to develop a style of cartoonish art. So any books that you know of that would help out when maybe giving a road to start on in terms of the cartoon art style, I would appreciate it.

Wow, after reading this i just had to post my story too. I have made an alt cause my friends dont know about this shit really and they sometimes check my profile for games or w/e..

Okay, basically about 6 months ago I had a real fear, I had a fear of leaving a safe place, i still do. But it was worse then. I couldnt leave the house, going to school was hell (7 min walk) and i often ran home. Why did i have this? It basically started when I had a panic attack and thats when i couldnt go anywere further than 5-10 minutes away from my house. Although going to school had been hard before that but after the panic attack in a shop i "knew" It wasnt just school.

Things are getting better although you can imagine how hard it was to drive 40mins away from my house to be prescribed medicine to hep me fight the anxiety. But soon after taking the tablets and med I got better and slowely improved, I went round a friends house for the first time in about 4 months a while ago and now i find going out alot easier to go out f the house. My boundry of how far I can go without feeling I will panic is now alot bigger, like 30 mins :P

I can just keep fighting.

Re:Depression, amongst other things..

Fuzz that sounds like being a teenager just a little belated. Maybe its just that youre growing up and constantly thinking 'Shit I hope I look alright' or 'Do I look like a twat right now?' 'Do people like me'. I think most people feel a little like this, but as I said in your case it looks a bit belated. Maybe one of the problems is 'making it an issue' rather than just hiding it a bit like most people would. Making it an issue makes it something rather than your silly little fear.

I have a friend who is pretty shy and is scared as hell socially. For example we had like an evening thing at college were people would show up, talk about there work, drink wine and watch a showcase. He wouldnt go to that because he wouldnt be able to face it to well mixing with people.

I bring him up because he has made his shyness into something. Like we'll be sat somewere (just a few of us) and he'll say something like 'Ive kinda got rid of my problem being friends with you guys', and its a little odd to here - If you know the problem, why cant you phase it out.

More later..

Yeah, I have a therapist who I see about once a week. I'm working on getting myself to Denver where I have a friend and a sister, people who will help me out. I've come to the realization that I'll never be drug free, but that's okay, I just have to make sure I get my meds and take them at the right times. I'd rather not revisit the mental hospital for awhile, if ever.

Thats cool, its nice to know you have people there for you and your family care for you. Luckily for me the drugs arent addictive and basically when im strong enough i will be able to just stop taking them.

Anyone else feel like sharing their life story? :P

RE: Anxiety-related stuff
Apparently I have social anxiety, my psychology-taking friends keep diagnosing me :s
I also have a fear of pills and chewy sweets (like cola bottles, gummy bears). Well not so much a fear, but more of a it-could-kill-me type thing. 7 times I have nearly choked on chewy sweets, they just slip to the back of my throat and get stuck there. I have never taken a pill because of this; I just can't swallow them.

Extreme Makeover

Does anyone watch ABC? If so, do you know the show Extreme Makeover? Apparently, they are giving a makeover to a house just outside my town. Its pretty exciting, there is a traffic buildup on the street of all the people trying to get a glimpse. The construction starts on Monday, but i'm going to try to see them move the bus at the end of the week.

Re:House makeover program

There was a ghost program come near to me. I live in Devon, and there's alot of places that could have ghosts, or atleast appear to for a program. A friend of mine went down to this one place, and wore a white sheet and made ghost noises. He couldnt get inside though, so he pretty much got no response - wasting his own time and one of his mothers finest.

Re:Depression amongst other things

Yeah it probably is hard to explain Fuzz. I think my attitude towards that sorta thing can be summed up a little like this - You couldnt go into a pub with your dad, and have your dad tell all his mates about you being a little upset, there response would be 'ooh dont be silly haha'. Same with missing school, people thinking they're iller than they are, to me i'd just say to them 'Dont be silly, you're not ill, getup'.

And as you can see my mind has run out of ideas.
