I thought Windows was trying to kill off all forms of Flash related since they were making their own flash making program. Starting with IE7 unable to display flash based pages...

*Or so I heard...

Flash and Vista

I don't use windows so I couldn't tell you anything that isn't super obvious, out of curiosity what amount of RAM are you running, sounds like a shortage of memory to me...

Funny that it's happening in Flash 8 as well never have had the problem with flash crashing but I would be suprised if It's not common place...

Headphones

Anyone have any good headphones that are under 100 dollars but still of some quality, I hate the ipod ones and I feel uncomfortable traveling with my bose headphones...

I'd be open to anything with decent sound quality and isn't excessively large, maybe even nice in ear headphones if their is such a thing for a decent price.

I'm cool now... Right guys?... Guys?

Vista
Well Vista is supposed to be a memory whore, so unless you only running programs that you need to be running, it's going to lag if you bought your computer at standard price.

Headphones
Well I use these, very good bass quality. I bought them for $40 AUS, I think that's like $60 USA?

Flash and Vista

It probably is a memory short :<. I only have 1 gb, and I know this is a small amount for Vista.

Headphones

There are small headphones that have plastic rim that stick around your ear, as opposed to going around your neck or the top of your head. These are my favorite types of headphones for mp3 players. They're discrete and for 30 dollars you can get some with good sound quality. My favorite headphones for the computer will always be the studio headphones with the sound blocking technology, though.

RE: Smoking and other moral issues

I used to be like mega against smoking, but after a lifetime of the government, fear-mongering ad campaigns, and everyone in the world who doesn't smoke saying how bad it is, I really don't care any more. It's not like the smell's that bad after the one second when you get used to it. Punish the industry, fine - people trying to get as rich as possible from something essentially unhealthy is always going to be a negative thing - but there's no need to herd smokers into the shadows where they won't bother ordinary, decent, middle class people.

Conversions the wrong way around. More like $33.20
I agree with Delta, stop posting so fast!

Also, if Microsoft try to stop flash from being viewed on IE7 and developers refuse to use their new program they'll just end up losing a shitload of money because everyone will switch to using firefox/opera/any other alternative.

Think about it, they wont be able to watch video's on youtube, they'll realise that there's other browsers, more firefox users, less money for microsoft.

Subliminal Advertising/ Messages

What exactly are your thoughts on Subliminal Advertising/Messages? I find them rather amazing at times, than again some are quite horrible. The other day I was watching the "entertainment box" And suddenly a commercial came on to the TV. It was actually a Wal-Greens commercial, advertising their products. Suddenly a CHIA PET flashed on the screen really quick than the commercial continued as if nothing ever happened. I don't quite know if it was a glitch or not. But it's quite ironic.

Subliminal Advertising Trick - We All Fall For It.
The link above is linked to a YouTube video explaining on how our mind can be persuaded and influenced into doing things without even knowing it. It's quite the interesting video, I would like to share with the Reg Lounge Group. :]

Open Your Eyes.
A pretty nice site, in which expresses and explains a few things about many things in the known world. I think you all may be interested.

Tell me what you think about all of this.

..::Subliminal Advertising/ Messages::..

Very compelling video. "Illusionists" do the same kind of thing, plant an image into someones head and have them draw it or whatever and *GASP* he has the same drawing in a sealed envelope. It's amazing how or behavior can be influenced by the things we see.

Flash cs3 error
One more thing to prove stick with flash 8, other than AS3. When I just got into flash and when I started really learning AS cs3 came out, I didn't want to learn all over.

=(

Nein. Short posting = ban

Also; I too will stick with Flash 8, although I find no real advantage over MX in 8. They don't improve enough stuff each version.

MX=?
MX2004=AS2
8=filters
CS3= AS3

That's how I see it anyway, I know there are other things... increased compatability to other Adobe products and different ways of drawing primitives and stuff. But mainly CS3 is 8 + AS3. That stuff isn't essential for good animation.

I am a programmer in flash, but I don't want to learn AS over again, and I probabally would've bought flash 8 just for filters, but when I got into flash it was the current version so I got it anyway.

Let's have a vote

All in favour of CS3 say 'aye', all who like 8 better say 'nay'. And I'm not encouraging three word posts here, so at least give some reason or stick it with another response.

Nay

Am I banned now?

I animate, I don't give a damn about AS3. Plus I don't use filters and I see no need for Photoshop layers.

Nay, don't wanna learn as3 only as2! Plus I'm already use to the layout of flash 8 and when I saw some screens of cs3 I was a little confused

Yeah, although that seems to have gone down, professional use of the filters can be great. Nice for menus aswell, so you can blur things in/out.

Subliminal Messages

Nice video. I watched Darren Browns series on Channel 4, they were pretty good. Some amazing psychology techniques. If anyone saw 'The Heist' last year, i l oved that. If you didn't, he basically took 5 or so people on a coars e to teach them how to manipulate people, supposedly.

However, whilst on the coarse, he brainwashed them into robbing an armored vehicle containing fake money. He got about 4/5 people to do it, so it wasn't 100%, but still pretty amazing.

Can you imagine what you'd do with that sort of stuff :P.

>:D.

at the moment i say nay.... i agree with kreg why pay more if your not gona use all the worthless crep that the new flash has to offer. I am content with flash8. ;D

I agree, Flash 8 has me settled in, and is worth the price..

CS3 failed at improving flash to the extent where people needed it over 8..

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2007-07-03 12:21:21

Flash CS3
Nay, Flash 8's circular logo reeks of awesome compared to the square 'Fl' of CS3. Besides, I don't need that extra stuff in CS3 to bog me down.

CS3 is better, so since it wasn't a problem for me I got it. But I say for anyone with Flash 8, don't bother with CS3 (at least not till 08/09) unless money inst much of an issue.

ehh.... nay?
I think CS3 was just Adobe's attempt at hurriedly putting it's brand on Flash. In the future, when AS2 starts to become too restrictive, people will begin to migrate to the newer version, but as it is now, it's not a release that's worth the immediate change. That being said, it's still supperior to 8, and FP9 is super quick, but that's not enough of an allure. Who knows if they'll release a 10 soon than expected.

I am yet to see the wonders of CS3, has someone got an example of it's powers?

Just try googling for examples of AS3. You can do a lot of stuff that would normally lag with AS2, but runs fine with as3. Also, filters don't lag. Other than there's nothing :P

Well that would be helpful, however.. You would think they would add in some more improvements before releasing CS3.. Because so far, from what I hear, it's not worth getting.

Flash Versions

MX=layer folders, being able to save cookies, AS-generated graphics (forgot the name), revamped layout
MX2004=AS2
8=filters
CS3= AS3

My ambition is to upgrade to MX within the next 2 years.

Hey guys, im making myself a blog which you can see here: Link. Im using wordpress and im really impressed by how easy it is to use. Its currently a modified template, the one i downloaded didnt have a side bar and all sorts. It was also in German so i had to translate half the code haha. Still some bits which are German so i need to go through it.

But anyway i was just wondering what you would want to read in a blog, its going to have all my designs there but what else would you like to see? Interviews? Anything you can think of, thanks :)
