.. no it's not.. there's a Temp site up ( the old one) but as far as i know that's still being used. unless one of the admins are willing to add a collab forum..........A collab forum would be perfect.
ya it would be.

But that'd be overcrowding the whole forum thing. I mean, then you'd have to have a writing forum, then an online game discussion forum, then a hardware forum, and the list would just go on and on.
Realisticly we shouldn't be having a lot of collabs up at a time, and of those only one or two should be at the stage of getting bumped every ten minutes. We just need to start encouraging people not to start collabs unless they really believe in them, or to reset NGCollabs so people have somewhere for the more inexperienced collab projects.

What about you make the flash forum into sections. When you first click forums then get general flash and so on when you click on flash you then get a new list with flash collab forum and this one.......
Just a thought.
RE: Collabs
I think the best way to handle it would be to talk to Tom and the gang and push for a NG collab system.
Like the portal and everything, make a user interface especially for Flash collaborations. It can be another powerful feature offered by Newgrounds. Like a collaboration portal that gives people tools to collaborate seamlessly to create Flash games and movies.
Collab forum/portal

or a online tool in which people submit their swf's and they are compiled into one big swf online and submitted with all users coautherd. with some automaticly gerneated menu system.. that'd be fun..
yet would make 'crew' collabs more .. well. easier ( unless a collab ban was made :O)
What AS book(s) should I buy?
I need your help guys. I want to learn Actionscript, mostly because I want to give programming games a shot. I have recently upgraded to Flash CS3 so books about AS3 would be okay as well (although I haven't found many so far). I have a job nowadays so I'll probably order two books, so if you could give me two suggestions that would be even better. My current knowledge of AS is very basic at best, so anything too specific would be bad I think.
Long story short: two books, AS2 and/or 3, programming games.
Thanks in advance.

Dont bother even suggesting new technologies and or system wide implementations they are unrealistic and frankly i do not want to give fulp another reason to stall his redesign any further. I think I need to just come up with some sort of decent set of rules to weed out time-wasters.. summer is right around the corner and this is likely to get worse before it gets better.

Yeah but then ng would be more popular and it would gain the users that would have previously been regulars at ngcollabs.com

I agree that having at least 3.0 on one solo submission is a good idea. But the best plan would be mod approval. They have a rule in the art forum that people can't start contests without getting it ok'd by a mod (or else they'll get banned), and that's seemed to work out pretty well!
lip-synchdone in graphicclip (singleframe #)
a graphic clip/symbol that has on each frame a different mouth pposition ( open, c;osed, ect). hwhen played ont he maintimeline you set the properties of said clip to play single frame... anf form there you make a keyframe for each changing of the clip by edited the singleframe that is 'played'At 6/10/07 11:59 AM, Lord-Sonx wrote:

Sonx's favour for Sarai
I too would like to know what it was.
Collab rules
- one solo submission over 3.4
- at least one other solo over 3.0
- proper instructions in first post of collab thread (screen size, aims, theme, fps...)
AS Books
Buy a version of 'Actionscript: the definitive guide' by Colin Moock. With it's power, I've almost finished learning Flash 5. I'm sure the newer versions will be just as good, if not better. Easy to read, even if you're not in front of the PC and has both a chapter by chapter learning narrative and also a top-notch reference bit which you can work through if you're so inclined.

Collabs.
First off, Renae i've decided to enslave you.
Second, that is actually a really good idea.
Third, What happened to the "Simple line" Series?
Collab rules
I think mainly upping the BA limit is an option. Personally, I ignore most collabs, unless they are by someone I know well and its a good idea. And I mean, maybe we should let Flash newbies have the satisfaction of a daily award via collab.

I'm with Luis here. Besides, it's not Newgrounds' responsibility to sort out collabs - they're neither a huge part of the site nor necessarily hosted here. If you want an effective collab system then it's best being done on an external website.
For the time being, though, I think we need to weed out the collabs which aren't really going anywhere decent - put the message out that people without experience or an ultra good idea are going to have to wait for NGCollabs' equivalent to come up, or until they've stuck with Flash for a bit longer.

RE: collab rules.
No, considering alot of the time collabs steal the spotlight just for the fact they are called collabs, when something much better was submitted the day it happened, Check out the flash Royal rumble 2 part 2 it only got daily second because a collab that wasnt even close to the level of goodness that RR2 was got daily.
So bad idea :\
Also Ngcollabs.com Is a really good place to get a collab going, They always have way more going on than NG, and they have some decent ones every now and then.
Collab rules
even if we chaneg the rules people will still try to start colabs that will fail from lack of rules,ba, or even people.
since only 2 or 3 mods ( luis, jmb and denvish) are 'active', and dont really do their job allt he time prehaps with new colalbs rules we need mor emods, or at least more people that can activly kill a thread.
since we are all regs, prehaps we should have some more power over the little ones that floud this place with pish?
not saying make us all mods, but prehaps.. the ability to lock threads ( and only here .. no banning)..
Prehaps a sterner rule on what type of collabs are acceptable aswell.. prehaps a collab must have some sort of theme that isin't 'animate tot he msuic' or super violence?
What i did for sarai
lol.
AS/Flash books
... blargh! i'd imagine alot of those are just the AS help file with a few tutorials on how to do very simple stuff like drag'n drop.
AS main and the thousands of tutorials not good enough?
Stickie threads
I hope NG V5(?) will add the abiltiy to have stickie threads, mroe so than what we have now.. so we can have AS main a stickie :P

HINT!!! HINT!!! HINT!!! HINT!!!
Giving regs extra power* is a bad idea XD We're all elitist bastards anyway. And imagine what giving Glaiel modship would do for free speech here...

I mean, out of all the guys here right now Luis is probably the most stable XD

I think this might have been brought up a while ago, but who here's using [strong] tags for bold instead of [b] ? I seem to be alternating between the two. Also, I can't remember what the replacements for [i] and [u] are, so instead of looking them up I'm just staying old-skool.
Where do you click to make the layers in the Timeline panel smaller? Someone told me once, I forget.
thx

why replacing with something that is longer? it's pointless, like going backwards.. but it may be fun, haven't actually tried.. lets see ........

Collab Question
Since you were on the topic here, I figured I shouldn't start another topic.
I've been planning to start a collab here, and I have the BA from leading small 2-4 people collabs. I've been planning it for a while, and have all the necessary rules and stuff planned. I was just wondering if there is a chance that I won't get flamed for hosting "another collab"(sort of like how I'm probably going to be flamed for posting in the Reg Lounge).
If I have the BA, have experience with smaller collabs, have a detailed first post with the specs/rules/etc., have a good idea, and maybe even post an example of the layout or the menu, than will it just be overlooked and complained about like all of the other collabs flooding the forum?
