Sprites

I think sprites are okay, but I'd give the submition a higher score if it used original art instead of ripped sheets >:(

Sprites

I'm guilty of using sprites every once in a while... in fact...

http://denvish.net/ulf/110607/199_Sprite_Danc e_off_2.php

but besides that, I look at them as a break. Sometimes I just don't have to time, motivation, or the ideas to make something, so I use sprites. From that I get ideas for animations later.

Websites

Do you think it's worth getting a website that'll host all your Flashes? I can build sites using Dreamweaver, it's just I don't want to pay money every month if only 10 or so people visit it :(

Websites
Get one, its totally worth it. It costs like $10 for the domain for 2 years (.co.uk or some .com's) And if only 10 people visit you dont have to pay hosting :P

If you don't want to pay, just use www.bravenet.com and pick the option to design it yourself and get a co.nr domain (kinda like co.uk) at www.freedomain.co.nr it makes the site as pro as can be without spending a dime. I would only pay for a site if I had some kind of flash series or nice gimmick to draw in a steady flow of views, so that ads can pay for it.

Whoa its me!

NG on PSP

It's actually pretty sharp. It takes a bit to download the animations but its pretty entertaining to be able to watch them on your psp.

Hair

At 6/10/07 04:02 PM, Johnny wrote: Wake up... go out.

For the past three or so years I've had hair that at least reached my jawline. Besides washing it and occasionally conditioning I don't do shit to it. I have gone days without taking a comb to it even. At times I almost forget I have long hair.

In case you're thinking maybe I'm one of those very nasty guys with greasy long hair, I'm not. My hair is beautiful to the point of girls telling me their jealous and guys telling me I'm a girl.

I like having long hair most of the time, mostly because I look like a dork with short hair. The only time it becomes a hassle is when I'm trying to do something physical and it keeps getting in my face. I can get away with putting it up with a pair of sunglasses. Also, if I'm sitting around, painting or sketching or something, I need to tie it back so it isn't in my face or in my paint. Lucky for me, some people think I'm even sexier with my hair back. I get compared to Heath Ledger(from the patriot) with my hair in a ponytail, Fabio when I have sunglasses on my head, and Jesus when I have a beard.

I'm just lucky I guess.

You're lucky, method. When I had my hair long it was everywhere. It started curling and stuff.... ewww.

Collabs

Luis, or whatever mods are on; you really need to tighten up the collab rules. This is just getting ridiculous.

They should also up the judgement score, it should be at least 2.3ish, 1.5-2.0 is just ridiculous, theres just loads of shit drowing newgrounds.

I agree, there are just to many. I know this sounds selfish, but i really want to start the Tut Collab 07, a project i've had organized and worked on for months now, but i can't, because there would be n o one to join :P. Where is ngcollabs anyway?

..::collab season::..

It's only going to get worse before it gets better, expect 3 months of non-stop collab fever. That is unless the collab rules get tightened, having a 3.0 ba is piss easy these days with the new BA rules.

BA/Collabs, a revival

there was a colab or two that was lead by kittycrew members, due to their spamming and 10-coauthering alot of them have 3+ba's

if the BA was just the top 3 flash's nonco-autherd that would lwoer the amont of pish.

although the top 50 artists list still goes by the old all mvoie ave score.

on another topic

Flash 9, compiling

Anyone got flahs 9 and want to comple a shitlaod of fla's for someone?

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2007-06-11 13:28:25

BA/Collabs

You're right, Lord-sonx. If a person's BA didn't include collabs, there would be a lot less of them.

How much is a shitload? If not too many, I'll do it (btw, I only got the flash 9 alpha). Why do you want someone to do it anyway?

Its a collab summer

Well part of the problem is that ngcollabs.com is down indefinately... and so we have no choice but to ease up on the collab rules... right now, hypothetically there are no rules... each mod sort of is taking each collab on a case by case basis.. which of course is terrible but theres no black hole for these amateur collabs to go into..

my rule of thumb is that if a person has atleast 1 or 2 movies that theyve done on their own then they are welcome to start a collab up... i figure if you have the patience and endurance to knock out a few projects solo then you are competent enough to consider giving orders...

I dunno maybe its time to discuss it amongst regulars here as to what sort of rules we can have for the summer ... i really dont see ngcollabs making a comeback anytime soon and even if it does alot of people have already lost alot of faith in its reliability...

What do you guys think would be fair adjustments to the rules keeping in mind that they do need to be eased since theres nowhere to send the slew of beginner collabs.

What sucks is that I am willing to pay for that hosting and website to keep it running, yet every time I tell people to contact me, they never do. I really don't think anyone cares at this point.

Collab rules

I dunno, generally you can get a fair vibe from the first post about which collabs are just going to end up being poor. Someone could always start up NGCollabs 2 or something.

If any changes should be made, I'd say:

- the person starting the collab must have at least one solo submission with a score of over 3.5
- the collab should be well thought out and not just some random, spur of the moment idea
- (possibly) there should already be two or three people willing to sign up before the collab is posted, named in the first post
- no song collabs without at least some sort of main theme

We could always have some sort of quota system - there can only be x number of active collabs at any time; any other collabs will have to queue until one of the open ones ends. That'd be pretty hard to arrange, though.

Collabs

I'll discuss it with John later today.. I think that a quota is out of the question though. Tom would blow a gasket if he found that peoples creativity was being put on a backburner, he really values the spontaneous nature of the site, and the fact that some things just come out of nowhere.

I also think that random song collabs with mashed parts and no real goal are here to stay... they perform well on the site for some reason and until portal views get introduced to something new, that more or less is what people think of when they think of collabs.

Collabs

I think NGcollabs could find one of those free forum sites for the time being. It would satisfy a lot of people, and it would be good enough to keep bad collabs off of the bbs

Collab rules

Yeah, actually ignore most of those suggestions. They were a little over-zealous. I think a high scoring solo-submission is a good perquisite, though - it says a lot about how well you're going to be able to string the collab together if you've already single handedly managed and submitted your own submission.

Another idea - you may want to encourage collab starters to get their blessing from the mods before posting. It would probably encourage people to think harder about collabs in the first place, as well as weed out the ones which are more poorly planned or overdone.

BA of 3.5+ and at least 5 non collab movies in their history. and prehaps a mod or a flasg regs thumbs up ( not e a quote of them sayign to go ahead but a post saying so.)

A collab forum would be perfect.
