I remember him! He and Neg were two of the people that really stood out when I first started coming here... making them 'awesome forever' in my eyes!

Great guy...

yeah, I miss him too! He doesn't have internet access anymore... he's working and 'banging the chicks' tho, so i guess he's doing ok! ...which ties in with:

Talking to strangers

I've talked to a few ng people on Skype... but SeizureDog is the only one I've talked to on the phone.

Who could forget Schohorerhr (I never figured out his username) or Siezuredog. Both were awesome, but I knew Schohrr much better. It sucks they left...but probably for the best. This is after all an internet forum... :-/

RE :Talking to Strangers

I haven't talked to many Newgrounders with my actual voice. The only one I have actually have was Luis and Lalo on Skype occasionally. I don't really talk on Skype that much. I'm always signed in though. :l

I haven't actually called up anyone either. Hah, we should have a who chat on the phone of us all one night. Pssh, yeah...right. o_o :D

I love you guys!

well yeah. mhm. enough said.

The Caretaker

I quite liked it actually, everything fit together pretty nicely - music, story, art. Only thing I didn't really like was towards the middle where there was just a white background, it felt really empty...even if you had just thrown in a solid color other than white or something it would been better - Like where they're running (and flying) and they're silhouettes, perhaps even invert the colors or something so they're white and the background is black. Anywho, that stuff's tiny anyways and I thought it definitely deserved higher than a 3.5, at least around a 3.8.

I guess that just goes to show that some people take style over substance, plus (not trying to be rude) but the story isn't really as captivating or attention-getting as the more action-y movies (even if they might not have as good of a story as yours did). It's annoying to see stuff like this get a lower score just because it doesn't fit the actiony-edge type material that people are expecting to see nowadays. Regardless, nice job on it, don't let the score get you down.

RE: The Caretaker

Despite the lack of animation at some parts, it turned out actually pretty damn good. I really enjoyed the beginning where you could tell you whipped together a nice backgrounded scenery there. It was pretty interesting to see the story progress as the song went on.

The animation was good, as well with the Frame by Frame animation except one part his hand looked awfully small but that's another story.

You did pretty good! I liked it :) I liked the kittens rolling in the milk, hah.
Well anyways, Newgrounds doesn't really rate like it used too. Poorly animated submissions get front page, and daily awards. If you have a dead day on Newgrounds where hardly any submissions are submitted to the portal, than you're bound to get a few daily awards to some submissions not quite deserving it.

Another thing, Style does overdo animation skills as well as creativity. It's just how Newgrounds is. When they hear that tune going, they keep tapping their legs and start jamming out to the beats... :[

Oh well. It's the life on NG. There are users who vote high on everything, users that vote low on mostly all submissions, than there are actually fair voters. You just have to be the lucky one that submits at the right time.

It's a whole new ballgame :)

i always wanted to say that.

We should totally get all the regs in an online phone chat.

Hamslice: The Caretaker was awesome. I just watched it and I loved it. It is stuff like that that you can tell the author put a lot of time and energy into it. I loved it, really. What does the score mean, really? Not much.

Does anyone else remember Cook? He had a website http://area526.net and it's still up. I used to talk to him quite often and then all of the sudden he just stopped posting on NG and going on AIM. Everytime I needed program advice, I always went to him first.

Yup, a lot of guys disappeared... I guess most of them were disheartened by schorhr's leaving. Otacon, I believe his name was, was another good guy who's gone missing. Among others. Inglor? Venom_Swirl (I believe... it was something with swirls and poisonous substances). And sober Luis... what happened to that guy ;)

I consider 'Old Regs' to be the Reg's that participated in the OLD Reg Lounge. That group of guys died out a LONG time ago but some of them are still around. Off the top of my head I remember: NegativeOne, StarCleaver, Mercurious, Amish, Afro-Ninja, CrookedAsterisk, Burststudio (Dan Fleming), Kortex a bit I think and a bunch of others. We had a massive group of people that frequented that thread. And then it was locked.

I remember Cook! He was fantastic, he drew me a picture one day of a tractor running people over. It was the best picture ever.

Most of the Old regs that are still around have taken breaks. Other than that, there aren't any left. Only the new kids who've established themselves. It's a shame. It'd be really awesome if we could get them all back even if just for a short time. Make a huge collab or something.

And even some of them (us) are leaving (Cybex :( ). Yeah, it'd be nice if people could get together for a collab someday, the good old reg collab :S.

I need ideas for what to dress up as on my last day of school... can't be anything 'offensive' as there are young'ns around. And you know why I'm not asking the general forum.

You should dress up as someone who doesn't go to the last day of school.

Some dick weed keeps downvoting bee dodger, I voted it up to a 4.00 just to have it at 4, cause it was at 3.99 and someone keeps voting it down. Maybe its just a coincidence, or maybe someone has it out for me! Have any of you experienced such a strange phenomena as this?

...then again it might be shirtturtle being silly...

Yeah, happens all the time to me. It happens all the time to everyone.

The thing is, the whole "you can vote every day" thing makes no logical sense whatsoever. I don't see how anyone can logically explain how allowing people to vote on something every day can possibly improve the accuracy of the score. All it seems to do is encourage downvoting.

I don't know any other site that has a voting system where you can vote more than once on the same content. The way I see it, you should be able to tell what you think of an entry one time...

Yeah I never really put that to thought. I mean its bad for having a valid score but good for traffic, because people can come back and vote and whatever, but maybe people would view more things if they couldn't vote again everyday on something old, you know to get the coveted points! but seriously

I doubt the people that count as traffic as opposed to members bother to keep coming back to submissions with the added insentive of voting, more likely to play the game and be done.

I think the system is fine because that's how it is. The rules are there and it works how it works sort of thing. And also I think if you are prepared to worry enough about the score the system gives you, you should be prepared to suck up with your flash and make people vote 5 on it. I don't really mind what it ends up as but it is interesting to watch how it works.

Yeah, wierd that you mention it, somebody(s) with really high voting power keep downvoting the shit out of my Good Morning movie. I know it's more than one person because it happens sometimes three times a day. I actually had to put a little message up on my movie telling them to stop.

I never thought of that voting once thing though, hm, not a bad idea. I was just thinking the other day about how to prevent this kind of thing - like locking the score after a certain time or something, but that would be really unfair. The only problem I'd have with voting once is that I wouldn't be able to just vote on the top 50 movies any more, but on the other hand it would increase the amount of people voting on Under Judgement movies < that could clear up the 'Under judgement' mess that happens sometimes.

Im back/ downvoting /i miss you

Im back and sober from mexico.
I said i was gonna get something for Tom but i didnt and i just grabbed a bottle of mexican tequila from the duty free... id send that around and have you all sign that but you all would probably drink it and rather than signing his present itd be more of a multi-state drinking game.

Downvoting:
You guys care too much about stats.. i pay attention to the score and shit the first week i release something then i never get back to it again.. move on with your life.
The thrill of submitting fades after 30 mins of passing judgement and its back to making something new you should stop clinging to the fame of your last movie.... CONNOR.

I miss...

LiveCorpse.. really cool guy, helpful to the ng community even though maybe he wasnt that good himself. Really great asset to newgrounds, its kind of sad that people gave a valuable user like that such a hard time ... about his dark themes, or whatever.
People need to be more accepting of animation as an art form and see that it comes in many different flavors... people want final fantasy anime battles over and over and its just so lame that they never want to try new things.
