White Stripes in Concert
So I also might get some tickets to see white stripes on july 5 here in toronto, but I've never been to a concert and I'm not sure what to expect... anyone here go to concerts? Anything I should know?

Spidy

Got mine 2 weeks ago. For 7. Its going to own my own soul.

Do you think going to number 4 is to far? How about the rumoured 5 and 6? For some reason i think 3 is enough, even though its so good.

I heard the odd 7 is what they want to go to, theres a whole plot they've got, and because spiderman has enough awsome villians for it, but I'm worried that the 3rd spiderman cartoon was linked in the movie storyline and that Lizard is already dead, I really want Lizard to be in the movies. I'm also hoping that Venom is in 4 and its all about Venom, cuz it looks like in 3 Venom only gets a small part.

I just watched the Sara Silverman show, shes fucking hilarious.

Whoa its me!

Flash

Nearly four years now.

College

I am going into Graphic Design next year at a school in Philadelphia. I am as excited as I am nervous. Being in the creative art school environment can only help my creativity bloom but it is so much from normal grade school I don't exactly know what to expect. I know I am going to enjoy it though. The GD department is one of the best in the country. I am also going to take as many classes as possible in Animation.

Current Project

For second semester of my senior year I have chosen to do a project for my 'senior option' class involving Flash. I am making a 2 minute long music video of sorts. I have been putting and putting it off and now it has pretty much come down to the end of the line. I have 3 weeks left to finish 110 seconds of animation. Anyone have any tips on making it look pretty but easy and quick to do? I am thinking of just drawing a bunch of pretty pictures with slow longs tweens in each shot. Maybe just a couple...then using the vCam make it look like more stuff is going on than not. I think that is my best bet. If anyone has any other advice I'd love to hear it.

Pretty much the same story here. I have to take alot of my collages drawing classes, need to work on that....alot. Im not to worried about being in collage environment though, just worried about being a little noob artist in a collage class.

I whent there to attend some classes (just 1 day, just 2 classes). One being art history, which i fell asleep in....not a good sign.

College shit

The first year (sometimes two) of college are rough... you expect college to be different from school in that you are there studying something you want to do but the first year is usually a foundation year and you can expect to encounter a year where you are taking all sorts of classes.. most of which you probably have no desire to be in..

i remember being extremely frustrated with my first year.. so much so that i wanted to just drop out. But as your college career goes on you start to concentrate more and more on things that you are interested in and you truly grow into a professional.. so ya just be mentally prepared to go at it hard the first year and stay the course. In terms of college.. the first year is pretty much the same wherever you go so i wouldnt get too bent out of shape about not getting in to your premium choice.. you can always transfer in.

Colegio

Just don't be a failure like me. I'm going to start my third year of college and I haven't even got my associates. I went to the University because that's what all the smart kids were doing and failed out of it for lack of effort. Losing my position in the college, and my scholarship. Don't put yourself in that position. College isn't like Highschool, you go to college because you elect to. Remember that. You're only doing it for yourself, because if you don't you treat it just like public school and end up wasting a lot of money.

College
College helps you figure out how to think. I think that's the best benefit.

Flash!
Hey...long time listener, first time caller...this is my first post in the flash reg lounge!
Im considering myself as a regular now in the (NG, flash forums, NG and of course Flash) after being here on NG since around mid '05...since I discovered Flash at like...16.
Found out its the greatest program ever and it really gave my interest in animation a push in the direction that now its a passion. So i've been with flash for a couple of years now, learning, creating and expressing through flash on this wicked site.

College/Uni
Before flash i was convinced I was gonna pursue some career involved with sport, like PE teaching or something....but Flash has made me realise that I want to go towards animation and graphic design and stuff like that.
So now, this year im at Uni studying a design course in visual communication, wanting to develop my animation, creative and artistic skills...and what Luis said is so true. The first year is hectic.... It has subjects that i dont really have much interest in, no exams but assignments left right and center taking up most of my time. Im still getting used all of it, but yeah, it is getting frustrating but at the same time its really cool...so much better than highschool! The awesome thing about this course is im able to choose from a huge range of electives in my next few years and focus on what i really want to do, as well as learn other skills that can help me get me to that professional status.
I just hope i can go all the way.

Learning AS: Flash 8 or 9?

I'm thinking about picking up AS because I've been wanting to make a game for a long time. Now, I've heard Flash 9 is kind of hard when you want to learn AS so I'm not really sure whether or not I should upgrade... What do you think, should I learn AS in 8 (which I now have) and upgrade to 9 when I start to get the hang of it, or will I be fine with 9 (if I can find the momeny to upgrade somewhere...)?

I'd go for AS3. It's a better language and avoids you getting into the bad habbits i get into from AS2.

Deep Purple Concert

Went last night, on there last of the 07 tour (i think). It was great! Thin lizzy (with a tribute singer) was there, and Styx. They ran out of hotdogs though :(

I have a dream (mini flash comp)
I was thinking of maybe doing an animation challenge with a prize! If all the people that enterd donated £2 ($4) to my paypal account then the winner would get all the money or ill just send them an item of the equivilent value haha. I think it could be done over a half day period and see what results we get. Sound good?

It wasn't so much losing by so much, it was losing by judges vote. They had a panel of five judges.

Oh well, I'll have to try again next year :). Animations are fun to do when you are a game dev.

Flash+Wiimote

it is widly known you cna use the Wiimote with ur pc but what i'd liek to know is would be to an easier way to animate in flash?

It'd certainly be interesting...

Wii and the law

So i might be using a neighbors wireless to connect to the internet via my wii.. this ia appaerntly illgal..

barly works so i dn't think i'd get in shit would i?

A flash related topic

would it be fair to say that animating in flash gets easier as you go along or harder due to the new techniques and higher details you start to learn?

for example, any one of us could plop somthing basic out in a few days and it'd work fine (ie: me and canada's really big) but we could also do the same thing sing all the knowldge we've learnt and technques and crap in a hell of alot more time..

end ramblings...

No. You probably won't. Lots of people do this. You worry about the littlest things Lord Sonic.

Pssh well good question finally :). You made a point, it sorta gets easier doing the same thing over and over, although you're learning new methods and your tolerance is getting higher as you get better. Had a look at the top 100 movies earlier and I would class alot of them as not that good animation-wise.

Ima go wrap my wireless in aluminium foil now... that would stop others from using it, right?
