HTML is fairly straight foreward, it's just a series of <tags>, much like the <strong>strong</strong> tags etc you use on the BBS. If you learn HTML you should check out some Javascript too.

On my iTunes I've got 2099 items with a total play time of 6.4 days, which is made up of 173 artists and 191 albums.

Those 2099 items also include videos and podcasts, as well as just songs.

I've got 2.5 hours of Happy Tree Friends podcasts, and nearly an hours worth of NG podcasts.

Animation VS Script

Some movies here have a rather good script but next to no animation, yet some have the oppisite, it always seems the animation+ on'es get the high scores while good stroys just, well, dont.

So which do you all prefer, solid script over animation or solid animation over weak script?

(can anyone name one movie that has both ?)

What do you mean by script, you just make me think of say 'Tomorrows Nobodies' and 'College University'. Do you mean plot, as in what happens?

well yes plot.. but i just realsied it could aslo be AS script, which can be int he same problem, amazing AS, no 'animation'(graphics i guess)

tomoz nobies have ok grpahics, it is very well done bu nothing amazing yet the plots are always great < bar one or two>, same for collage uni,. but there there's things like fallenangel (??) amazing grpahics, plot pretty much nonexistant, amazing score. (same goes for madness seres and.. i guess.. bitty and that lot)

Hm well yeah I see what you mean. Thinking about it, you cant really judge flash movies all with the same criteria, for example you say Fallen Angel there, well is it supposed to be plot heavy? Does it need to be plot heavy? Look at things like Perfect Murder. There's next to no plot but that is nothing against it atall, it doesn't need one - not because "it's so good" or anything, just because it's not that kinda thing.

Flashes have no criteria they need to run by* and you can see that they do keep close to standards of television/film. They are just slightly more diverse because we have the freedom of not having to amount to the audience, or restrictions of length etc etc.

* - For example television they have there standards, like length, style, what audiences already like, watershed, fitting the schedule.

Music

Can we talk about the Audio Portal? I just wanted to say something. I think it'd be a great idea if they had a top-1000 music list, then a radio type thing to play tracks from that 1000. That way you wouldn't get any real crap, but some of the lower stuff would get some exposure.

Animation>Script?

Depends what you are going for. I think the best is a good balance. A good example of that would be Tommorows Nobodies. Not amazing animation, but still keeps you entertained and interested. And a good, yet not outstanding script.

Crazy Story

Check this out, it is redic.

So yesterday Meebs PMs me. I had seen his name around this thread and all over the Flash forum and especially becuase of the Valentine '29 flash, but I didn't really know him. So he PMs me telling me he recognized my name from last years Sketchbook Tour Flash that Luis put together. So, already, crazy coincidence, but it gets better. Turns out Meebs goes to my school and is just as much as a Forumer and Flash nerder that I am. I don't know anyone who does Flash, let alone posts hundreds of times on Newgrounds. It blew my mind that there was another one like me who goes to my school who I actually KNOW on the forums (somewhat). Crazyy shtuff. He's a freshman and I'm a senior so I don't exactly see much of him, but I have spoken with him and played wall ball with him on numerous occasions.

Redic coincidence...

Surprised the hell out of me, at least. Crazy crazy.

Torrents

How many of you use a bittorrent client to download files and music? I like nothing better than to download a massive bundle of 200+ songs from a praticular artists...love it.

I can't justify if you are downloading illegal material or not off of bittorrent, but please remember that piracy discussion in the forums is prohibited. Talking about downloading illegal material will result in mandatory bans. Heads up. I would discourage talking about torrents anywhere on Newgrounds.

Really? Because I always thought that submitting to Newgrounds meant that you were targetting a specific audience. And not a particularily forgiving one at that... facts are perfect animation and kewl features is far, far more appealing to the average Newgrounder (well... the average one who doesn't spam blams or protect points when they see a group or famous name in the title) than a storyline.

Personally I like deep storylines. I like them even more when I can watch them in isolation from the rest of a series with no great hinderance to my enjoyment of it.

Newgrounds Audio Portal Radio. Comes with an offline version too...

Unfortunately doesn't have that Top 1000 filter. But then again, a Top 1000 Feature would just get as much piss taken out of it as the Flash Top 50 does...

I do think something needs doing to that Portal though.

Yees really. And it's not so much targetting the audience as it is they happen to be the audience. There doesn't have to be a demand to hit the audience in the same way there is with programs/films, we have the freedom to do whatever and submit it.

I need a wee.

great artist but making movies about penis's and such is immature.. but yet again thats the target audience isin't it?

kinda annoying seeing movies and games that are just porn with questions or just a penis flying around for no reason..

Internet vs Real life personality?

I dont know much about JohnnyUtah so I cant pass judgment on him.. he was at the modmeet for like 10 mins and then i never saw him again.
His online aura is semi abrasive but yet i dont really know much about him. For instance Stamper is one of the nicest people I've ever met, and yet online hes got a more abrasive personality.

Do any of you have very distinct or similar online and real life personalities? I've met some people that act the same online and in real life so i know theres both extremes and everything in between.
As for me, Im like 2000 times more soft spoken in real life, im like a fuckin ninja, like my friends and coworkers can rarely track where i am or what i am up to i like that.

One weekend im around and the other weekend im in some obscure state with no warning.

Yeah I think you're right, and I think that's what annoys me about his movies. It's sort of as if he's trying to suck up to the target audience in some way - either to the typical 12 year olds, or to NG's sort of 'notorious stereotype'. I think because of that it feels sort of.. commercial..

But also, fair enough if he's just doing these for a laugh on a weekend for the hell of it. That's fine if he wants to, but it just feels like "Stop wasting your time.. it's not funny. You're a really talented guy, why not make something good".

If you read through the reviews for 300 queers, he is a prick to people responding and has a really lame attitude. Fair enough if that's his online attitude but he just can't seem to accept them and slips out of it at times.

Bleh. I'm not the best with words, but do any of you have a simillar opinion? Or a seperate one?

And to quote my post in his deleted thread - "It was better when Stamper was the only 'LOLOL YOU FAGS' one. :*( "

RE: online/offline
I'm different. I show my geeky side of my online, so offline I'm all cool. Except I'm a bit shy sometimes offline, depends who I'm with. if I'm with no one i know, and no one else knows each other, I'm fine. If I'm with no one i know and everyone else knows each other, I'm a bit shy. Usually i just get drunk and the shyness goes though, so it all works out fine.

At 4/24/07 04:53 PM, ImpendingRiot wrote: Utah and Dicks

Well, I won't comment on Utah himself, but the one time I talked to him, he was really nice. I forgot about what exactly we talked about, but he's not on my list, so he was nice ;)

But in all seriousness, I kinda disagree with the penis thing. I don't think the penis thing is for NG target audience. If you look at some of the reviews, or even a thread stamper meant about if anyone would buy a penicorn, it's amazing how scared people get of cocks because they're worried it'll shatter their masculine ego or something. It's like whenever a dick joke type flash comes out, the homophobia is apparent. I just get a crack out of that, if nothing else.

Yee I saw that thread about the Penicorns. I also saw that sugested as the reason people wouldn't buy one, but I don't think that's it. I wouldn't buy one just because it's a bit lame. The only reason you would is to provoke some sort of reaction out of people who saw it, and that reaction is often gunna be 'err... yeah..'.

And yeah looking through the reviews people are disagreeing with it, but again I don't think it's because they're asking masculine and against seeing a dick. From what I saw, it's mainly just 'Oh god just drop it, not funny'. I showed it to a friend of mine and he said Crazy art - just not funny. No big deal, he just thought it was lame. And I think that is the general view of it.

Cocks

probs reason why people like to play with 'cock's online is mainly the reaction some people do.. some people laugh but then some people go mental in rage and how its not funny..

shock value i guess.. i eman.. look at borat.. not funny but 'shocking' therefore a success..

and the Vtech jokes thread int he general forum, some poeple think it's too soon but some pople 9 like me) embrace it mainly cuz its a new soruce of comedy.. and also i have a disturbing sence of humour (the day i read about vtech i made a joke about it to a friend who is asian)
