Music

I do enjoy metal and heavy rock, but I always like stylized music and movies and stuff thats a little different. I'm into some good rock with maybe blues or folk in it.

Fav Bands:
Led Zeppelin
White Stripes
The Raconteurs

And I listen to SOAD, Linkin Park, Billy Talent, 3 days grace but I wouldn't really consider them to be my fav bands.

LapTop Messed Up Bad

I think I ruined my LapTop which is what I've got Flash 8 Pro on. I accidentally downloaded some Add program (which the site had no mention of) and then my laptop got swamped with adds, so I uninstalled it and then still experienced some adds, but now my laptop has been infected with some viruses and I spent hours trying to get some out, but I think its still infected with something, because its not working right, its really slow and IE just won't work right... so now I gotta put flash 8 or flash mx 2004 on my desktop cuz I don't like mx.

Whoa its me!

ok, no video i think, its 110mb and it must have recorded at like 2fps or something, its insanely slow and dodgy recording

True her drumming leaves little to be desired but they're still good even with terrible drumming, Jack's guitar skills are simply amazing because hes a rif genius!

And also I gots flash 8 on desktop now, everything is ok ; )

If you guys are gonna list your music tastes how about narrowing it down to 3-4 items... i dont want pages and pages of single posts with 40 names of bands tied to it.

RE: Pm's

I rarely get a PM for help. Sometimes its from someone inquiring for more help on something I helped them on previously. I'm none too popular.

Smilies?

What would you think if smilies started being incorporated into the BBS? Do you think we'd be too mainstreaming?

Yeah I'm not poopular either, I don't get PMs, I got one from MoFunzone once about Triforce Keep Up, but never again....

I don't think it'd be mainstreaming, it would be cool if Tom let some of the regs design some smilies and some NG themed smilies, like Pico or such.

Star Day
And also I was gonna submit a mini game today, but in the portal its easy to see that its Star Day and I'm wondering if these guys mass vote. I don't want to put it up and get mass 0s.

RE: PMs
I think I've only ever recieved about 40 Pms... usually I get a couple if I change my sig but that's about it.
RE: Music
I'm not into music much, is that in any way linked to some form of autism? I feel like finding out I'm mildly autistic. Then maybe I can use the disabled-people-only elevator in my school... I'd be the first one since it was built 18 months ago :D
RE: Smilies
I think that would work OK if they were used in moderation, maybe limited to 3 or 4 smilies per post... we do already kind of have smilies, you can select one to put at the top of the post...
Paid Website Design
I've been asked to come and re-design the website of the company I went to for work experience, and they'll pay me £13 an hour :O The thing is, I know nothing about website design, and I'd be building one from scratch... also most of the people who worked there were quite wierd... oh and it would be during the summer break, and this is supposed to be the longest summer break of my life what with finishing GCSE's and all. I'm not sure what I should do.... I suppose the worst that could happen is I get fired after a few days, and miss a party or two...

I use way too many full stops, I've only just noticed....

Well if you know nothing about web design and the people are weird, don't do it. Unless you are good with photoshop and html I wouldn't even try it. I tried to join the web club at my school cuz I was hoping the teacher would teach me html, but she didn't... nor did they ever really get anything done.

I know some basic html, like tables, fonts, etc, but I cant do anything worth £13 an hour... I'm taking a web design course next year. And by 'the people are wierd', i didnt mean it in the way that they were child touchers or anything... they just seem a bit... I dunno... generic. And it's a big national company so I dont think they'd be doing anything dodgy. It's an internal website btw, not like it would be seen by millions of people.

RE: Music

Yeah, lots of great bands I've seen on peoples lists. I too found a christian band, but they are hardcore metal, and sound incredible...

Anyway. I'm assuming that most of NG is and still remains metal/rock fans. That's good to know. I'm not much for techno and rap, but anything in between is tolerable.

Tables are the devil! Or at least, that's what I was taught. It's far better to use CSS to position elements. Apparently. Creating basic Websites is quite easy if you use Dreamweaver, as you can just drag things to where you want them. ;p

Although, real men use Notepad to code HTML.

RE: Music

The follow bands are ace:

Alkaline Trio
Bowling For Soup
The Offspring
NoFX
Nirvana
Elliott Smith
Weezer

I could go on for days, but I wont.

Damn you Luis!

As Kirk said do NOT use tables. They are extremely limiting, you can pinpoint layouts to the pixel with css and div tags.

I recommend using notepad when possible. Dreamweaver and other site design wysiwyg apps create heavier code. Although Dreamweaver creates the cleanest code of all the giants (next worse is golive and the worst is frontpage)

WOO! Thank God...I was about to think I was the only Tekhed in here with all of this SOAD and Linkin Parkers floating around me. Whew, glad to hear that is another one. Pendulum is exactly mental, I love 'em to death. I missed them the last time I was in London, but they are definitely in the top ten groups I want to see before I die. They are absolutely intense beyond any dnb to date. Love it.

I am a huge fan of dnb, Electro, psy-trance, techno and your general electronic goodies... except pop electronica pretty much. I love rock and classical as well and especially hip hop, so I am not stricktly a tekhed but I do love music for my robot ears.

I am not going to list every band I've ever heard of because that is dumb, but you can all view what I have been listening to as of late on my last.fm account here.

How many songs do you all have on your specific media player? ...just out of curiosity.

Speaking of music...

What is your favorite Audio Portal songs/artists and how often do put them in your Flashes?

A few of my favorites are DavidOrr, B0UNC3, and Dimrain47.

Yeah seriously... What's up with that?

I'm into a lot of Rod Stewart and Billy Joel. I mean I like some of the "newer" groups like five for fighting, bowling for soup, but none of them compare to people like Rod Stewart.

Audio Portal Favorites

I'd say my favorite audio portal artist would have to be crud , he's easily the most underrated/unknown artist in the portal and it's a shame because he's got a lot of truly great songs. I actually have big plans for one or two of his songs, really dream-inspired stuff, but yeah check him out if you can - definitely worth a listen.

always behind schedule.

RE: Audio Portal

I have to easily admit that a lot of the songs submitted to the Audio Portal are record-selling worthy. Some of that stuff is incredible, fresh, original, and crystal clear. I can't see why people wouldn't download music from there, apart from most of the songs lacking vocals, that is. Still, the AP is a highly underrated and underexposed portion of NG.

Does anyone agree that the songs when you first enter the AP page should be removed? They are loud, overplayed, and unnecessary.

Music
I'm safely in the metal majority here. And I'm possibly the only person over the age of fourteen who enjoys listening to Emo. But recently I've been listening to instrumental guitar shredding more and more. So a lot more Buckethead, a lot more Yngwie and a lot more Friedman, Vai and Satriani gets requested on Megarock when I'm listening and the request slots are open

You people ARE visiting SaveNetRadio.org... right?
I'll be annoyed if my stations get ripped off the air come May...

As for the AP... Helix and Evil Dog are predominant in my faves list. So's MaestroRage and Flashburn. But ever since I got the Newground Radio standalone Flash application I've been just storing favorites in that and generally forgetting to check out the rest of the artist's work.

Chronic future is great, not too many people I know like them.
BTW, I saw streetlight manifesto live, they were really good.

Anybody ever hear of wholewheat bread? I saw them live and they were really innovative it was cool.

But yeah I'm surprised more people don't like stuff like Billy Joel, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel etc.
