Stuff like that really makIes me feel sick when I read it. It's just messed up what people do to animals, and most of the time the laws around animal cruelty are a joke. Sorry if this is way out there but I just got really disturbed when I saw this, and News normally doesnt get to me.

I know I agree. It's just cruel and no point. I know it's not the point you were making, but my dad said something ineresting about pets last night "Well you've given her a good life, fed her everyday and took her on long walks". I think that's the best way to look at pets dying.

Bending your subject a little there, sorry :/

Animal Cruelty

I can't imagine why someone would decapitate a dog and then leave it on its owners doorstep. Maybe this girl has a secret admirer at school with an odd way of showing it.

Global Warming

OK. We've had this discussion before, and I argued that global warming is a bunch of bullshit and I finally have some linkage. A few days ago there was a thing on some British network about it which debunked the whole crack pot theory. I don't know how many people saw any of the posts in general about it but none really seemed to get that much attention so I'll assume not.

Didn't watch it, but from what I could tell thier angle was Global Warming *IS* happening, but it's *NOT* man made. Even the scientists that are pointing at the ice caps melting don't know just how much C02 emissions are actually contributing to the greenhouse effect and the myriad of effects that means that, slowly the climate of the planet is changing for the worse.

Which brings up some interesting work by Bjørn Lomborg, ("The Skeptical Environmentalist") and an essay that's based on his work in my book of Thought Experiments. If things like the Kyoto Agreement being adopted by the States would cost the same amount of money as it would to give *every* person on the planet free, clean drinking water for a year, *is* it worth trying to cut emissions and go green when the results of our changes can not be accurately predicted? Would it not be better to stimulate economic growth by continuing to be non-green and have the power to CURE climate change with the reserves of assets that would be made by that time, rather than find we've both crippled our economic growth AND not stopped climate change?

Yeah it's pretty sick. Just cruel like and nothing else to it. There was a story in the news a couple of days ago about some brothers who'd formed a gang and been robbing rich people Robin hood style. I think that kinda things pretty cool, the way the newsreader said it she was sorta nodding to them that they were in the right. Although, I think they also started cutting a guys ear off.. and threatened rape.. so maybe not so much. I saw the trailer for Sharpe's new film and I think my view of criminals is a little subverted..

Dude, you didn't even read or watch the videos on the link I posted. It flat out says that CO2 does not cause global warming, and even if it did the CO2 we contribute is a drop in the hat to the natural CO2 released into the environment by animals, bacteria, and volcanoes(something I've said before). More importantly, global warming is a natural progression that is caused by solar activity not CO2. HOWEVER, if you look you will see that CO2 rising along with heat but the heat causes the rise in CO2 not the other way around. In fact, the CO2 lags behind by a few hundred years.

Pretty much everything you said was worthless to the argument.

... does anyone else not notice the correlation there? And just why aren't my points about environmental skeptism valid in a discussion about the most prevailant environmental debate of the 21st Century... particularily in a topic about environmental skepticism?!? Why you're trying to be antagonistic when I'm as skeptical about how much man made CO2's effecting the environment as you are is beyond me.

And yes. I watched the youtube videos. Bar the one that was down. I didn't watch it when it was on C4. The thing is, you can't watch "The Great Global Warming Swindle" without watching "An Inconvenient Truth" to get the counterargument. And if you don't get both sides of an argument to form your own opinion, you'll end up zealous and xenophobic.

I'll have to completely disagree with that, just because someone's rich doesn't mean he should give his (usually hard worked for) money to the poor. Especially not if the gang keeps the money for itself. Maybe one day in the future I'll be rich, do you wish me to be robbed just because of the amount of money I'd own?

The way I interpreted what you said was that you believed that you interpreted the link as a debate over how much CO2 effects things, when the entire argument is that it has no effect on the change in temperature, hence why I said your comments were worthless.

And if you don't get both sides of an argument to form your own opinion, you'll end up zealous and xenophobic.

I don't know how having a fear of foreigners has to do with anything(xenophobic means fear of foreigners). Knowing Al Gore's side seems almost without reason when its the most popular opinion that everyone was quick to adopt and preach without any knowledge of what it was for the most part.

I can understand how you would want to look at both sides to formulate an idea which I think is true for something that you are unsure of but I have always felt that global warming was not a concern. This is merely a means to prove what I have always said. Anyway, I didn't mean to come off as standoffish or offensive but I felt like you made no attempt to actively read what the article said.

Oh for the lack of there being a word to describe fear of change and the unknown that begins with a Zee sound...

Xenophobia's as close as it gets. There is no specific word to describe irrational fear of those that are different bar "discrimination"... and the word has far too many meanings attached to it, whereas xenophobia probably required a few people to take a trip to wiktionary...

Yeah. Al Gore's side of the debate may seem obvious. But there are other sides as well. Such as mine. The news tells me climate change is happening. Assuming that the news isn't lying to me again (and everyone, please rememeber how accurate the news is at weather forecasts for the same day, let alone fifty years from now), that leaves me with two options.

Either spend a lot of money and go green, forgoing a lot of creature comforts because I decide to run on Solar Energy or grow my own food or drive a low carbon footprint vehicle*.

Or, continue to disbelieve. I wont have wasted all my money on solar panels, I'll probably still have enough faith in capitalism to invest in a bank, and I'll be happy.

There are also two outcomes. One is that global warming happens and I'll probably end up dying in a tidal wave that nukes Britain. The midlands are pretty high up as things go, but I can see the River Derwent would probably wipe out the entirity of Derbyshire if Al Gore's disaster scenario has it's way. Or, more than likely, I'll see it coming. I'll be in a better position financially to prepare for the inevitable (assuming society doesn't collapse... but that case is moot because solar panels are REALLY going to help me against an angry mob... least the ornamental katanas and the motorcycle will come in handy!)

The other is that Global Warming doesn't happen.

The four possible outcomes of this Pascals Wager gone mad are:
- I survive, because people either prevent global warming or prove it'd only wipe out two villages in the Phillapines... tops.
- I survive, but only because I wisely believed in the powers of capitalism. I withdraw all my savings at the last minute, buy survival gear, a boat, and I live out the rest of my life in a low budget version of Waterworld.
- I end up broke for going green, and very dead as my flat goes underwater with me and all my crappy solar panels.
- I end up broke for going green, and everyone laughs at me for believing that global warming fad...

* - I don't drive. I'm thinking of getting a Honda Shadow 125 though. Apparently that bastard can do 80 and still be legally classed as safe for sixteen year olds to drive on a Moped CBT. What the hell!? Anyhow. Thoughts on me becoming a biker anyone? I'll get the NG Tank on the back of my leathers and everything...

Fall of Society, End of the World

I personally can't see a change in temperature causing that much trouble. For the most part the process is mostly slow moving, nothing should really happen all-of-the-sudden(though I have no facts to back that up).

As far as the end of the world my money is on the 2012 theory. Long story short, the world ends in late December of 2012 because we will pass over the universal equator that will effect the magnetic forces of the earth and shift the poles and there will be a ton of earth quakes as the crust of the earth starts to move. This will also cause tsunamis that will pretty much wipe out coastal cities world wide. There is some scientific evidence that this could occur(along with it coinciding with the Mayan's end of the world theory).

I wouldn't mind if the world came to an end. I mean, I'd be dead, whats to care about. If I wasn't, the idea of a more chaotic world kind of excites me. I was never a fan of society anyway.

That is really a European thing.

Not that specifically.. :)

Nah, as I said I think I was just getting a little carried away with the thought of it being quite idyllic and Robin Hood. Looking into it, i'm sure it wasn't fair. I remember hearing on the news that they targetted people who would be covered by insurance and whatnot.. so maybe there was some sorta charm to it.

Here is something on it, that I myself can not be arsed to read.

That's based on what my brother told me and a movie called thirteen days, which was basically the political side of the Cold War and how it was stopped.

Kewel', maybe myself and yourself are not so far apart, maybe we are each other in an opposite dimension? Evil twins? The parallel universe theory maybe?

Do you know about the story of how the two fingers-up (see pic) sign came about? To do with French/English, and bowmen.

100 blocks of memory were needed to save my half life game just now on the dreamcast.. argh..

200

for clearification:

it's like, £40 for the hair to be bleached, antoher 70 for dye and the rest is to trim the edges and make it slightly shroter and nicer ;)

it is alot, but.. hell.. why have money if you can use it...

btw, 1st time i've acutlly done this ( first time i've had hair this long ;) ) so hopefully it will be awesome...

although, no pix, i don't like putting myself ont he internet ;)

was on msn once and the person was fappign to me on webcam.. if i put myself on newgorunds imagine the fappage...

300

so, everyone says it's amazing, i saw a bit of it (tonite we dine in hell!) in a reivew, looks nice, rather cgi like and cool but, no idea if it's work going to the cinema to wathc.. i was gonna wathc Sin city cuz of it's style, never did and probs wont see the sequel either.. although i did buy a dvd just cuz it looked amaizng.. so.. 300 .. worth it?

400

if i were to buy a wii with everythgin i wanted with it thats avilable now, it'd cost around £400.. oh joy.. but wait.. no Wii's cuz the second they come in stores they sell out withing a few minutes..

fuck sake!

i'll laugh when the ps3 ( with their abysmal advertising) don't sell at all..

500

the price of a ps3, extra control, a game, scart...... think thats it.. yikes!

Dug. And it's far, far better than anything I can do.
But I don't like it. Too slow for me (maybe the strict adherence to physics just makes our poor blob move too sluggishly?) and as Toast says, it feels like a bad Gish knock off. Kudos to Delta for doing something so technically superior that it's the ICBM that blows me and people of my primative coding standards out of the water but innovative technology doesn't make the game.

Maybe the wait for a game by dELTA made my expectations higher than normal?

Still. Well constructed, no glitches as far as I can see, a well thought out interface, and a good solid package overall. I three'd. Which is the highest score I've given in two weeks.

Didnt really care much for the game and it crashed my browser while i was playing it... i think it would have been cool if he had beat edmunds gish to the punch.

Something that REALLY annoyed me about this game was that he made a note before you play the game telling you how hard hes worked... totally unnecessary.. knowing how hard anyone has worked is not gonna change my opinion and it shouldnt...

At the end of the day, people want a good game or good movie.. they dont care wether you break 8 vertebrae in the process as long as they were entertained for the 3 mins they spent watching your movie or the 20 mins of gameplay of your game... and thats how it should be... brutal. It seperates people who are serious about being someone in the scene... its the people that love the art form despite that low payoff.

let the nooblets who get so frusterated by low payoff pout and die out of the scene.

i see what you mean, but im not to sure if im a exception. I go into provincial, and last year, a national, competition for animation. These competitions involve sitting in front of a computer for 7 hours one day, and 7 the next, to try and complete a full animation. So, i take these home and submit. And every time i do remind people that it was done in a very short time frame with rules and guidlines. Do you have anything against that at all?
