RE: Xombie

Yeah, I was dissappointed with this one. He's been going downhill. There was a time when his stuff was long, storyfilled, fun, and action packed. Now they are short, same animation(s), and just some action, a lot silloute action....

He was definately trying to advertise his book, which does look interesting. He's a busy guy, I acknowledge that, but to be this slow when it comes to making movies... come on, at least give a little more of a movie.

RE: Miss Dynamite

Yeah, I don't watch it either. Funny. I never got into it, looked lame, and now I'm too late to watch any of them and I could care less...

So all series suck then...
Well it seems to be offical. What are seen as two of NG's longest running series are slowly losing thier appeal to us jaded types.

So what would the solution be to keeping people interested in a Flash series if it got as popular or as big as the major names up there? Even series that don't force the user to keep up with every update get a bad deal from us here. Can't remember the last time I saw someone actually say they enjoyed seeing another Neurotically Yours update.

What makes a good series in your guy's opinions?

Xombie
I think the new episode deserves a high score for its lacking efforts, because even though it lacks in many ways from previous works of James Farr, its still better than 99% of the stuff here on NG, lol. I was quite dissapointed, Xombie is like my favourite flash series along with Calico Monkey. He seems to be always changing the characters and the last few episodes have been lacking in lenght and effort, probably because hes taking it pro now and flash doesn't matter...

Ms. Dynamite
Watched a few episodes, don't really care for it.

And the finger thing in BF 2 sounds interesting but I play BF 2142...

Whoa its me!

Re: Miss Dynamite

Wasn't funny. Sure, it had some nice animation, but I didn't even giggle, let alone smile. Saddly, this series is going downhill, and fast.

Re: Xombie

I agree with whoever said less action, more plot. It's nice, but it's just nyeh. It lacks development

What's the point of watching the part with all the action and no character development? loltankmen

I also agree that the Minigun looked cheezy.

Re: Xombie

It was okay, but as you guys said already it was WAAAY too short. Over half of it was spent advertising other forms of media, yet we went there to watch the flash.

Nudity, Drinking and Animation

They all seem to go together don't they.

I don't know about in NJ but in CA nudity is acceptesd, in areas. I went to a hippy pre-school, we were encouraged to be naked, would of been tight if i understood why. And there's a shop right near me dedicated to cock and boob novelty items. Nothing like penis pasta.

I'm still at the stage in my life that I drink to get shitfaced, I very rarely feel the need to bring some booze to parties, but occasionally I'll grab something. My mom is pretty chill about the whole thing, my dad smokes more pot then I do so he's never cared. I'm fairly lucky I can leave condoms on my dresser and no one asks me questions, it is rather awkward at times though.

I haven't watched the new xombie but i really enjoy the series so you know, I dbout all be dissapointed.

Back to animation, I usually keyframe all my poses of characters before i even think about inbetweens, but usually I end up puting one keyframe rather 1/4 through the action leave one blank then end with the final pose, looks pretty good for faster movements especially for arm movements. walk cycles and less intense movements i try to do on twos if they're not the focal point (24fps usually) and 1s if it is, but that rarely happens.

And finally on an unrelated (bitchy) note,
Warning: Contains me bitching about another user

if any1 has noticed exploding toaster recently, that guy has been bothering me. I think its his overall demeanor but it feels like he posts whenever he can for little reason except usually to get people mad. I figured he was an alt gone to far at one point but i'm having doubts now
Just wanted to put that out there.

I'm cool now... Right guys?... Guys?

Eurgh, I don't have a lot of time for Vitamin G. Also, I hate St. Paddys day. Thae vast majority of people who celebrate it aint Irish. Worse yet are the people who say "it's an excuse to get drunk".

WTF? If you're older enough to drink it means you're a fully grown adult and don't need to justify your actions to anyone but yourself. You're an adult; if you want to get drunk; get drunk.

That sucks that your mom actually goes looking for stuff to take. If she found condoms would she take them? That's not very responsible parenting right there.

Well, I know she hasn't found anything so far. I keep tabs on where everything is. Not only that, but I have a password on my computer and have everything hidden so she couldn't find it if she tried. All I do is hide it inbetween books because I know she know's that I really don't read much.

Yeah, mum tried banning me from the computer when I got suspended. lets just say, she wrote the password down on a piece of sticky paper and hid it under the phone so she wouldn't forget. I went to ring my friend who was also suspended and bam, I'm on the reg lounge :P

Xombie

Sorry to bring this up again but justw anna tell you all something

actuall animation movie part: 2 minutes 23 seconds
advertsiing ending: 57 seconds

erm... bit much.. and the ending bit with the 'swearing' wasn't even that funny, plus the animaiton there was, well, lame... even for lip sync.

Animator vs Animation 2

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/368557

pretty good i guess :)
not that origonal to be truly honest (ok there's been like 1 movie before the orignal with the same premice, maybe oe.. who knows) but still rather nice i gues..

off to number 1 then is it?

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2007-03-15 06:11:41

yeah AvA 2 its pretty much old hat by now its cool but wasnt as innovative as the original its like numa numa some people should just learn to leave things at the first instance to preserve it

At 3/14/07 06:50 AM, PaperBagMask wrote: Guides
So how do you guy about for planning out animation?
I used to use fully animated sketches but it was too time consuming so now I use something similar to story boarding in order to plan movements and other crap. Then after that I do the normal animation stuff on those frames and fill in the gaps. The gaps might have guides to get the proper shapes though.

I storyboard most of my animations. I do it on paper with a pencil. This way, when actually making the animation, you have some tangible to refer back to. Easily. It is also easier looking down at a piece of paper rather than switching windows every time you want to see something. It is generally, at least with drawing thumbnails, easier and quicker to do it on paper. I organize my storyboarding by scenes. When doing action scenes though, you decide on what some cool shots might be, but for the most part it all comes as you go...it is too hard to time it perfectly when animation is so fast. At least in my opinion.

Storyboarding is definitely a must though. It helps plan out animation so well, and if you are animating to a music video where timing is essential, then you are set.

Little thing i've noticed, some people liek to have theri character jump into different positions and some have them fbf perfeclty inbetween.
so, which is better.
Jumping or smooth?
there's only one way to find out; FIGHT!

The best animators use a combination. If the scene is a fasted paced action fight scene, then nobody is going to draw every frame perfectly. It actually looks like more movement is being shown if the characters are distorted and not drawn as pristine as they may have been.

I use a combination.

An e-mail I recieved (asking for a Spot the Difference game for medical use).

My name is Krista Garver and I work in the Neuropsychology and Neurosurgery Department at the Montreal Neurological Institute. Our research focuses mainly on the clinical assessment of patients with epilepsy. We are constantly trying to improve our test battery and one of the new things we would like to do is create a scene comparison task. I very much like your designs for the Spot the Difference game and wonder if it would be possible for us to use any of them for our study. I'm not sure what other designs you have, but we would need black and white versions and about 80 pictures. If you would be interested in talking more about this, please call me at [snip] or email me with your phone number and I can call you.
Thank you,
Krista Garver

If sincere, that'd be pretty kick-ass to know something of mine was being used medically.

Have any of you guys heard of this place though? I checked their website and couldn't find that name amongst the listed staff. Concerning.

Medical and educational facilities have a lot of red tape to cut through when it comes to updating websites. Sometimes it's best just trying to not update at all, so that they can beat out the bureaucracy of large organization's QA.

I work on campus in a department where we don't have access to changing our webpage, and when we need to submit changes, it takes a week or so because it has to go through 2 layers of QA.

I Fuck Up

I had a ton of shit all due this morning for my Basic Design II class and so I was up until 3 am working on it, then my friend from back home drove over an hour to get here because she couldn't find any pot back home...so I spoked on the beach when I should been working. Worse yet, I left all the lights on while I was gone an hour and my roommate was looking to sleep. When I got back I kinda have no idea what he said but it was something along the lines of turning off the lights so I complied and then went to sleep. Not only did I not finish the project I slept through the class as well.
