We all understand what happens when u die, ur body decomposes and vansihes basicly.

What happens to your mind, or your soul.. whatever you wanna call yourself?

Do you just suddenly, see nothign but darkness? what hapens?! trying to think abotu what would happen if it just ened is fucked up..

thus we all think that once dead we conitnue on as somethign else.

Re: Afterlife

I myself believe in self-fulfillment of one's goals and beliefs in this life. Regardless of religion and faith, I think that anyone can aspire to reaching goals in life and taking the responsibility of living the life they want to live. I am not an Atheist, (Buddhism if you want to relate the closest affiliation), but life shouldn't be all about working up towards a next life or death. Some people are so bent in getting to the next step, that they forget about the step they're on, which is the present.

Obviously, not. If you didn't see it coming and you were INSTANTLY obliterated.

Time, energy, its all in our minds
Think about it, the past, the future, only exists in our minds, you can only be sure of the present, and you are precieving it trough your senses, and they send it to your minds, you are percieving th eoutside in you r mind, you cannot even be sure if the other people thinks, you dont know it, you assume it, in the end.. what is a though? what is energy? the universe is much more complexz and mankind may not be able to someday explain everything..
i didnt know about entropy, but doesnt matter only transforms?

A thought, an idea, and consciousness, all of which compose the mind DO NOT physically exist.

The universe is composed of two things: Matter and energy. Those are composed of electrons, protons and nuetrons - of which a thought is not composed from.
matter is composed of atoms, energy isnt, i agree that toughts may not physically exists, thats why i say hte universe is much more complex for humans to explain it.

RE: Afterlife, Religion, Time and all that Jazz

In my opinion everything, from time to reality to afterlife and everything around us, is all a perception thing. Everything in the world comes in as we perceive it, there is nothing to prove that your mind does not create everything that is in what you believe to be existence. Take a mentally handicapped person for example, they will see the world in different ways, they will see pink elephants floating around, this to us doesn’t seem correct, why? Because it varies from the rest of our perceptions, there is nothing to say that what they see isn’t real. The only reason you and I will believe to see things the same is because from birth we have seen them that way, for instance if you were born seeing red as green and green as red because it's all you've known and all you've been taught you and nobody else will ever know that you see the different to someone else. This can be the case for all senses, we may believe that we all see the same but what I see may not be the same as what you see but due to the fact that we both have known them as that from birth there is no proof that it isn’t infact the same.

As far as my opinion on Time, I also believe that it is a dimension BUT not one of four, infact one of perhaps hundreds. If you were to ever read up on string theory you would understand it, and I'm not really in any place to explain it. Time, as I see it, is a dimension as you can move forward and backwards in the Z dimension, up and down in the Y dimension, left and right in the X dimension and onwards in the time dimension, although I do not believe that there is a way to move backwards in time as it is set and unchangeable.

With perception being your everything, it is basically made up of electronic impulses and chemical reactions(not entirely accurate but you get the idea) and such which we humans sum up as simply thought, with that being the case and thought being our everything I believe that there is no afterlife. Once all the action in your brain dies out and your senses stop going your dead that's it, no afterlife, no reincarnation just the end of certain energies. Some people have mention how it would not make sense to just see black, but that's not even it, you just cease to exist at all, no blackness just nothing...gone.

These are just my opinions and are welcomed to be shut down at any point. =)

Do you just suddenly, see nothign but darkness? what hapens?! trying to think abotu what would happen if it just ened is fucked up..

I don't really think our minds can comprehend what happens after you die (saying that there wasn't an afterlife or whatever), because sometimes when I'm bored (which is alot) I just think about stuff like this, and I start to think about what happens when you die and if there wasn't anything, then I start to think how can there be nothing, how would we know anything, to me it would be as if we didn't exist at all becuase we'd well be dead (I think I'm starting to make no sense at all).
The same goes for time and the universe (if it were to last forever), how could something just last forever? If people were immortal it would just be strange to be there always..with no end, no death (but then it all goes back to the understanding of death).
Same with the universe allways being there, and if it wasn't allways there, what was there before it, how can something have been there always?
For all we know we could be absolutely microscopic playthings of gigiantic beings, or all this could be a dream, or dreams could just be another reality in which we can control and live in when we fall asleep and have almost no recollection of what happened when we wake up.
Things like this confuse the hell out of me (probably becayse I'm only 15). I hope some people made sense of my post.

Timenessness
It is unclear about the distinction of time and duration. I can't tell which is which; one is a full dimension, since you could define sequence of pictures and there would be animation, and another is just a timestep, you could easily just take the 3d data of this world and calculate the next moment, no? (But it would be useless because the world computes itself in reality and thus you would need a bigger world to wait/live for the result.)
The latter can also not be controlled.

Also you do not want to know what I think about afterlife. >:P

If you were reincarnated, how would you know?

You wouldn't, I guess it'd just be a new life completely :P.

Well this is a pretty good point, for all we know the afterlife could just be nothing or we go to live another life where we don't get much out of it even though we wasted years and years of work to be in a better place when they die.
Though I am interested as to what happens conciously when somebody dies. Do they just stop or is it just nothingness and nothing happens, or maybe they just restart from the beginning. But as we all know there is only one way to finds out...

I never said that. I did express disdain for religion, the idea of God and the afterlife, but God can't be the sole reason for the universe. I'm sure it's not 100% accurate, but I believe that the Big Bang is probably the reason as to why we are here :)

Well the Big Bang explains the universe's creation, but how can you possibly explain life? How can you possibly explain the random accumulation of atom's and molecules to form complicated self thinking cells seemingly out of nowhere?

Nobody can, it is impossible to prove scientifically how life can actually exist. What miraculous thing that occured in our universe that made single celled organisms that consume oxygen and begin to "live".

You just can't....

The Big Bang was only an event. Doesn't exactly explain anything. Why is some matter conscious and why does everything work like a video game?

More confusion

What part of your body are 'you' in?

the eyes, of which u see the wrold.
the brain, in which you control your body
your heart, that beats life to the rest of ur body..

or do you simply exist as some sort of energy controling the vessel of the body, and when the vessel dies you float on to the next.

What is that all about? Does it really exist? Discuss.

I read once somewhere that the dimensions go up to something like the 25th, and numbers 9 through 15 or something are really, really weird.

Weirder apparently than an eighth dimension :S

Body part (okay seriously, lame topic name?)
The brain is like a hardware-accelerated processor for most part, but the mind is considered the software of the brain. So it would make sense to say that consciousness is actually at the core-thingy where all the solutions the brain comes up with are passed to. (It's measured that overall brain activity drops before you decide and make a move.)

Naw, eyes would most likely be webcam(s). Graphics card would be the part of brain that processes the data it recieves from your eyes.

Yeah, it's pretty much in the back of your head. I smashed the back up real bad once when skiing and as I was slowly sliding home (a mile below me) snow started turning red and I had to pay attention to the path because I couldn't easily tell bumps. That was awesome. :D
