Why the fuck should he? The people who stole his account are nothing more than school yard bullies (in fact they're worse, as they use the anonymity of the internet to commit their acts). If someone came to your house and told you what to do, would you? Fuck no. So why let it happen on the Internet? Sure, they hacked his account, but he got it back. They’ve already done all they can do to him, so what’s left to fear?

Sinking to there level is just what they want. If you make them think that we're at some sot of war to stop them this will spur them on. They are all rather childish. And to Trunks I'm pretty sure it's the SS posting because I dont think Cybex has his account back, he hasnt got his website at the moment thats for sure.

Seriously, something isn't making sense here.

First of all, the SS aren't hackers. They are 13 year old kids who steal passwords. That's not hacking. It's password stealing, a petty crime like walking into 7-11 and stealing a candy bar where no one can see you.

Second, if that really is Cybex posting (which I'm hoping and guessing it's not), then you have be kidding. Again, you're going to stop coming on Newgrounds because some little kids didn't play nice? Come on. This some bratty little kids with problems going on. Don't take them seriously.

Bottom line is they're light weights, nons, losers, whatever you want to call it. Take it with a grain of salt and move on and just make sure you keep your account well-protected in the future.

Well, account stealing doesn't happen too often, thankfully. But it really isn't a huge problem anyway. Just ignore them and they'll stop bothering you(hopefully). They'll eventually go away, but not anytime soon.

Password Stealing

Generally, his problem is that he used the same password I suppose. If I ever got serious and made something out of my website I'd be safe from anyone who discovered my fairly basic password because I use a different one for my website login. But if they knew my e-mail password they could get my NG password and its the same as my site's password. I have a third password for some things that I can never remember, but I need to use it whenever a site requires something that mine doesn't work for.

They're not hackers, but they're more than just password stealers. It's not as if they just guess the password and then change it. They seemed to be logging everything i did. They somehow found out my FTP details (or cPanel details), which i have never told anyone,the only record of them is in a file on my computer. They also managed to get my NG password, couldn't have been guess work, they must've somehow given me a pgorgram which lets them monitor the keys i press or something. Getting to my email from that wouldn't've been too hard, i unfortunately had the same password, but with my Jesus account, i changed the password and 5 minutes later, my password had been changed.

I still don't know if i've managed to get rid of the program which was logging what i was doing, and so it still scares me.

I'm not leaving because i don't want my account to be stolen again or i don't want my website stolen. I'm leaving because 've seen what they can do, the couldv'e done worse, and i don't want to be on the wrong side of them, light weights or not. Some other people who got their account stolen by them, they downloaded programs. I don't remember downloading any program recently. Somehow the program has got on my computer without me knowing. I have no idea which program it is, no idea if its still running (i don't think it is anymore), and no idea if they'll somehow plant another one on my computer.

OK Cybex, now I understand where you're coming from.

However you got the virus, it was on there. I'd recommended formatting your hard drive just to be safe. That way, you know it's clean, no logging, and you're 100% safe.

Because you can't live in fear that it's still on your computer. If it is somehow, they can have access to very sensitive information that's much more important than a Newgrounds account (credit cards if you buy stuff online)

At this point, I don't think you can go wrong by doing a clean format and getting whatever shit they put on there gone forever.

As for how it got on there, maybe you downloaded it (did you download that "decompiler"?), or maybe someone sent it to you, whichever way, you're giving them WAY too much credit.

I PROMISE you'll be safe if you:
a) don't download programs that people link to on this BBS
b) never give out your password
c) make your password VERY complex

Again, don't give these losers more credit than they deserve like you are now. Somehow you downloaded that virus or someone sent it to you and it's as simple as that. If you reformat your HD and remain careful it's not coming back, and it's as simple as that.

Firewalls in which you set the rules manually are a great thing for stopping shit like this. I use an old version of Tiny firewall, takes a couple of days to set the rules up to start of with, but if a program on your PC ever tries to connect to the internet, you get told about it and can block it.

Unfortunately most firewalls these days set their own rules. User-friendly, yes, but not particularly safe.

I agree with Denvish and DFox, save all your good files to a CD, reformat your hard drive, and get a good Firewall, Zone Alarm is one of the best, and it's free. I know that seems abit extensive, but if they are tracking your key presses, they could find out your Bank/Paypal details, and that would not be good :(.
