RE: flash preference

Which do you guy's prefer!? flash games or flash movie!?
both to make and to view

Making: I suck at making games but it's great fun, I have only made one sucky game which I coded myself (That explains the suckiness) But I hope to team up with an AS:er soon and make another one. But I enjoy making movies more cause, quite frankly, I don't suck at it and stuff actually turns out good sometimes.

Watching: That kinda depends on the mood. Sometimes games can be a really good time waster, but sometimes I just can't bother to like press and click or whatever :P

Doors. You'll know when they're appropriate.

RE: prefer flash games over movies?
I like making games better because their fun to make, but I hate coding, so between making flash movies and games its even for me. And I like to watch movies better because they tend to be funnier.

Unknown Flash Authors

I watched this yesterday, wasnt really flash per say but i thought it was a great example of an animator who really understands the human form and subtleties... sure theres you can be a good animator but to couple that with really subtle natural human aspects makes it masterful... anyway pay close attention to the way 'hominid' moves .. the jiggling of the keys when hes walking in.. straightening of his tie .. lifting the chin and puffing up the chest.. its so subtle and so observant i really enjoyed it.

Other animators that arent that well known that i like were that pascal guy:

http://pascalcampion.com/

One of my goals this year is to really try and nail the human form and how it moves and acts in certain situations.. theres so much more than a facial expression ..

RE: Flash Preference

I like to make and view both equally. But the thing is, games are usually easier to make animations for because the same animations are repeated over and over again. But I mainly want to work in animation because I have awesome future ideas that I cannot apply yet. Really, they're awesome. Totally.

Wow, that's really impressive. I know I couldn't even dream of animating near as good as that.

Love the fat giraffes :P

I love the classic "not showing humans faces" useage in his movie. It was done really well, as was the fbf. Gorgeous work...

RE: Mike A. Smith

it's too bad really, that there are animators out there like him, and are widely unknown.
his other animation on there, Missionary, is friggin' hilarious :D amazing fluid animation, but my favorite part of his animations is that they're silent, and all the little subtleties.

TV shows made with Flash

has anyone noticed that there's an increasing number of tv shows made with Flash?
I can name a few off the top of my head like, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Max and Ruby, plus I'm sure there's tons more out there.
I for one prefer the traditional cartoons over new flash cartoons.
What's everyone else's opinions on this?

I have a tattoo.

Anyway, people say that shit doesn't hurt...but it does. I'm down 290 plus 20 tip too. Its still a little sore, but it was finished about 4 hours ago...it took about an hour and a half. If anyone is interested I will post pictures if I find someone with a camera tonight.

TV shows with flash

Yeah I'm not going to lie, I like foster's. I think flash is good for fun cartoony tv shows, but really hand draw animation is awesome for movies and more artsy stuff.

What, Cell animation? That is being less and less common nowadays because of the massive expense used to create episodes with it. I estimate in a few years time, most animations will be done using computer animation. Not par6ticularly with flash, but programs such as Mirage and 3D animation programs eventually will make animation easier and cheaper.

Sure, Cell animation still is the most common animation form, but why send your scenes to Korea to get them put together by labourers when it can be done simply in computers?

Aqua Teen Hunger Force
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/358977
I made that to practise lip syncing, and I got the hang of it like 500 frames in, so then I just went silly. Its the best episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, this is my fanimation of the convo with the dudes in the underworld... best ever!

RE: Flash shows!
Fosters is an awsome show, lots of originality and its very stylized and for it being made in flash it has excellent animation. Blue kicks ass.

I voted a 3

don't worry, used a diff account to vote on so the Protect point would've actual helped your submission

Few things
1: On the main shot, the focus on the main characters wasn't much, to far of a wide shot, their whole body shouldn't of been necessary. The character's hould've been as big as possible because the background actually distracted for the Animation
2: Right near the end, the animation was jumpy on the middle guy, his mouth kinda went to his forehead.

Re: Aqua Teen Hunger Force

It was okay, but I voted a 3 because of the art and sound. Sure, ATHF is okay, but you used the sound from it which isn't all that good for originality... and the art was just okay.

I'm back, btw

I've gone and become an SSBB addict... what to do, what to do...

flash cartoons

I really love fosters.

i only watched once achapter and didnt feel liek watching it again.. maybe i should give it another oportunity?

I think fairly odd parents is made in flash.
And if im correct, that should carry on to danny phantom.

I tought they both were made liek traditionally and then colored or something on comp.. to giv ethem those line effects (im not an expert.k?) coz i saw the movementes like smoother or something.. YingYangYo IS defintely made in comp

Traditional animation inmy opinion is better,

it makes stuff look more alive

i have seen other flash cartons.. right now i only remember Pucca and minor comercial toons.. i think kappamikey (is that called?) is also made in comp.. but for what ive seen the animcaiton in that cartoon sucks.. it doesnt make me want to see it..

RE: Unknown animators // related

Yesterday in college we were watching some work by Jonathan Glazer. We were watching first for his music videos, such as Rabbit in your headlights, Karma police, Virtual insanity(must watch) & Street spirit(an excersize in effects). If you watch some of these you'll notice a continuing trend throughout and how they are all simillar. Then, some of us who stayed behind checked out some of his other work, like his adverts - The Dreamer(Guinness), Surfers(Guinness), Bravia(Sony) & Levis ad.

One thing I noticed while watching his adverts, is that they are all some of my favorites & most memorable over the last 8 or so years.

Anyway, moving on the guy also co-directed Sexy Beast starring Ray Winstone which I haven't actually seen yet. There's a scene on his DVD which we watched from it where you can really tell it's by him and his influence from making music videos and adverts.

Haldo

While I was at my cousins I beat WindWaker but mostly when I played it I was focusing on the animation in it and relized how simple yet effective it was, a majority of it was tweens and looked realistic in a cartoony sense. I'm probably gonna attempt to do the explosions, water effects and anything that didn't rely heavy on the blur filters, I might even release an FLA but when I'm done I'll adjust it to match my style.

Are you talking about Sexy Beast or just this guys DVD? I don't think so, I don't think i've seen whatever you're talking about eitherway.

Here's a video he did for Massive attack btw - Karmacoma. It's a bit boring but you can see his originallity in his first video. Nice colours ya.

I would say make the buttons look like they are being pressed rather than changing the brightness (although nothing wrong with that). Just like nudge them 2 pixels down-left.

The pen moves to wildly too, thats more of a complaint on my behalf rather than an actual problem with it. I would just about half it so that it's not massivly noticable that it tilts, it's just one of those little things.

In the future I think shit like this may aswell be posted in the artist showcase thread. One - leaves this thread open for dicussion rather than comments and crit on stuff, and two the NGAST is getting quite quiet.
