Were the people in the Twitch chat spawning the enemies? Was only able to watch a bit of the video because of this shitty internet.
If so, that's badass.

You should add a kappas per minute meter. In gaming there's apm, then there's kpm.

yes that's the point, they'll also get to vote on which powerup you get when I get the weapons / special items implemented
My creative juices only start flowing after 1am...time to code

But why D:
you may proceed to rant
So I developed this quick application in C# which allows you to see some information regarding what packets are coming your way. Mostly this involves the average packet size and frequency of the packets (in bytes and ms respectively) - if your router's being attacked, simply forward the packets to your computer and run this program to see the IP of the attacker.
(this is a nice idea in theory, but don't ever open up your computer like that. Bad idea. Plus, getting the IP isn't guaranteed because false, crafted packet headers and proxies)
I uploaded a zip of it here if any of you wanted to check it out. May not be the prettiest or most well-coded thing in the world, but it was a fun experiment and it works to a degree :P
Now I kinda want to expand that and sniff the packets going through the network. What's the best way to do that? By using a MitM attack to get all the computers in the network to think i'm the router and then relaying the packets as normal. From what I can tell, the attack seems easy enough. Simply send packets with false header information saying it's from the router and break the connection between client and router, then when the client tries to find the new router tell them you're it. Though this again may be the whole theory/practice thing. We'll see :P

Wrote an application in AS3 that compiles SWF files from AS3 files. It feels weird.

Yes, although, not nearly as cool as that.
questionnaire i'm taking for a potential job-thing asked me if POST requests encrypt the data they're sending. I accidentally clicked "true"

Could technically be true, if you encrypt it yourself before you send the data.
There were a few questions that confused me, if i'm honest. One basically said:
True or false: You need to catch every exception with try/catch blocks
And I answered false. My reasoning is that you don't NEED to catch exceptions at all. It's not absolutely critical for your program to run, though it's nice in case something happens. For example:
In C#, when you tell a socket to start listening it stops listening after it's caught some data. You then need to re-listen on the socket to get more data. A quick (and not-so-dirty) way to do this is to simply add the listen code to the "caught data" handler. The problem with that is, when the user closes the program it also closes and then removes the socket before the "caught data" handler fires one last time for some reason. Null pointer references abound!

MATLAB is back...yay...
If that wasn't annoying enough, this class is basically just taylor series. yay...
Anyone going to PAX next weekend ? I currently live in Seattle (working here), so it's an easy journey for me. I'll be there Friday and Saturday, and hoping to talk to as many devs as possible. So let me buy you a drink or a coffee or swing by your booth or whatever, and lets talk game dev.

What's wrong with MATLAB? I find it to be a great tool for prototyping (well, I use Octave, but MATLAB appears to be all Octave is and more).

I'm so used to objects, so it's off-putting in that regard (I'll get used to that eventually). But like, I just don't like it. It's gotta be the way it was taught to me, cuz I just don't like it. The final project was us making an animation in a 3d plot, which was absolutely awful. They didn't tell us what the functions actually did, just to use them. I looked at the .m of the research project I was doing, and it seemed like it could be cool, but it never got explained to me.
Taylor series though, fuck em. I know exactly why I hate those.
So our D&D campaign seems to be going fairly well, we actually have a few viewers and chatters :P
(that must mean we're entertaining. Right, guys? Right... ?)
Aside from that, i've revealed the two big plot points of this story. I'm pretty proud of myself for coming up with them, because I just kinda pulled them out of my arse.
Basically everything was all hunky-dory until the king was assassinated (nobody in the party ever met him) and then everything went to shit and everyone started fighting for the crown.
On top of that, a war of angels and demons started and they're fighting on the mortal realm. Basically, the world's being ripped apart and nobody really knows what's happening yet.
Except for God, whom the players have met. He chose them to play a big part in this and all of that, but stretching themselves too thin would be a bad idea as they can't really fight two wars at the same time.
This is also the reason they're somewhat-immortal. Instead of losing their character sheet when they die, they wind up in purgatory, take an experience penalty, and travel to a specific location for a couple days. I'm working on making that more interesting.
99% of this campaign i've had to some up with on-the-fly, since i'm that one DM that allows the players to do anything and everything within their power. Like take a whizz on someone's face mid-battle. I'm pretty proud of myself for avoiding cliches for the most part.
Oh, and one of the players is in a gay relationship with one of the city guards, because why not?
So, we're having some fun with the campaign. And talking about random crap. Mostly talking about random crap.
