Names

I'm entirely content with this name. No one has any bloody clue who I am to begin with, so a change wouldn't be bad, but this is who I've been since I hit the Flash scene 4 or so years ago, and I want to stay just the plain old Ratty boy I've been. I shortened from my month long MonsieurRat to just MRat for convienience, but that's it.

P.S. I'm obviously fairly new to the forum circuit on this account. I was Rat_Mazta before for quite some time if any one recalls.

When i try to load my movie (ctrl+enter) Flash crashes i am using windows xp and i have a top of the line cpu that can play FEAR so it should be able to handle flash i have done other movies that load fine but this on has alot of sounds so i am wondering if its messed up bc of sounds i tried loading the .swf on imageshack but again it was just a blank screen i also tried playing the .swf on my desktop but it crashes and when i try to export it crashes please tell me how to fix this bc my project is due friday!!!!!!

Yeah, it can do good. But it can also do bad. BR's Rocket Rush went from 4.00 to 3.85 once it got frontpaged. Pretty disappointing all round (our lowest score for 3 years)

Don't worry Tom, I still liked it...

Still, I've noticed a bunch of scores fluctuate once they've gotten on the front page. I've personally never had anything on the front page, but I still think it would go down if i did.

front page

I fucking hate front page, I went from a 4.05 to a 3.73, but I guess it's nice for more people to see it. Its hard to satisfy everyone I guess, people who venture into the flash portal are usually more experienced with reviewing and voting, so I think thats why its such a difference when you get FP, wether it goes up or down, its only because its almost a whole new audience you're working with.

Sorry if i sound so n00bish, but people actually lower your score if it's on front page?

not really, it just brings the mvoie to everyones attention and gets the movie more votes. some times people spam 0's just cuz they didn't get front page or dislike the auther.

getting front page will make your submissions score change, usually to a more 'honest' score.

Yeah, I hear you. Most of my stuff get's downvoted once on front page. Only on a few occasions does it go up, but then usally tends to drop right back down. Take my latest game Go on FP now for example (I don't mean this in a bragging sense at all btw). It dropped from a 4.00 last night to a 3.73 today after reaching front page. Not that I mind, I don't care too much, but it's not something I'm smiling and cheery about =p

Front Page

I'm hardly front page material, but I think that maybe people take the front page to seriously as a showcase, instead of just random things Tom flicks up onto it. I've seen TOTW (Turd of the Week) level stuff make it there and actually go up, and I've seen tried and true classics hit rock bottom because of it.

Its like one group of people needs there to be 100% professional top quality perfection on there, and another, like our Piclownjews and whatnot Fiven whatever hits it just because they can.

So basically I just think people are treating it like they would treat a modern art gallery, some throw smelly yoghurt cups at it, and others pay dividens in support of it.

P.S. Yes Pauly, things on the front page do indeed get lowered. It can be sad, I know.

Read the Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, that'll show you the real future we need. It's sort of female, but hardly that way. I think it's the best idea ever point into print though.
