State of the Flash Forum
Ok guys, serious topic time.
What does every one think of the Flash forum right now? Obviously, since the animation & collaboration forums have come along things have changed, but have things changed for the better?
What do you all like about this forum and what do you all hate? What do you want to see more off and what less of?
GO!

I'm not exactly an active member and haven't checked the forum for a little while but,
In terms of a developers community, its pretty much non-existent, feels like there is a lack of real talent to show the ropes and such, most of the threads don't strike up any real discussion (other then the same ol' as2 vs as3 arguement crap).
If feels like the posts in the threads don't have to much thought put into them and are just done by random people on passing by. If you take a browse through the gamedev.net forums and look at the depth people go to explain things, you'll see that these people are really taking time to answer the questions. On top of that most of the threads are being answered by people who are generally unexperienced so the answers are usually wrong, vague, misleading or regurgitated from what the previous unexperienced person told this unexperienced person.
Not to offend the people who attempt to answer the questions, its down to the lack of guidance. So I would say more experiences folks need to take a stance and organise materials etc, and answer threads in a politemanner! it's a big ask though.
Having 89 different ways to code - as2, as3, on frames, on movieclips, external files - flash itself is an organisational nightmare, so i guess it can only be expected a flash forum is too! This is why there needs to be more experienced folk setting a standard

I think it changed for the better. If you post a problem now, it will be towards the top longer to give more people a chance to give you feedback, instead of a collabration & animation posts bumping your problem (that is haulting your game devlopment!!) down to the point where someone, who could have answered your question, comes along and doesnt even see your post. you could have posted something to bump it, but i hate doing that.
I hope it keeps getting better to the point where :
if you have a problem, you can (if you wanted too) rate the diffculty of the question youre asking. Then people can sort posts by the diffuculty level. Then more advance game developer will be helping other advanced developers, and beginners will be helping out the noobs.
Tank awards predictions guys
movie: katan
game: road of the dead
musician: ockeroid
user of the year: ricepirate
feel free to argue and place bets (I get 10% of all money involved though)
Hopefully nobody here is kidding themselves into thinking this forum is some kind of exuberance of serious developer discussion. A lot of the threads are from beginners to flash. It used to be a little better. Technical tricks and tutorials were usually at the top of the front page at least.

I've not been around for a while but it looks like the level of serious help and discussion has diminished. there were always under-experienced users trying to answer questions they didn't understand, but I remember a time a few years ago where you had active and experienced users around pretty much all the time to dive in and answer questions as well as offering further advice. The place seemed a lot more active too.
I don't know though, maybe there's still a big community vibe and I'm just not seeing it while skimming the forums now :P
I'm pretty sure I cover most posts worth answering. Often the OP doesn't respond past that.
Like these.

Boring.
This wouldn't happen if the poster was really looking for the help I ended up giving.
It just seems to me like, when the forums were merged, more people were willing to help. I don't know if it's just the average knowledge of the people helping has risen, effectively raising the bar and standards to which new users to Flash have to reach, or if people have just become lazy (like I have) and unwilling.
Rarely is there a problem someone doesn't know the answer too.
I came back after a long long time to find really inactive forums ):
Also, I don't know anymore to which forum go, there is animation and flash and collaboration and stuff, and general has always scared me. Before I just hanged around flash and did nothing.

I literally come here just to ask questions about how to use Flash.
Maybe you should stop putting all the conversation in one thread n actually MAKE THREADS to talk about shit like this above^^
By that I mean the renting flash thing, n all the other stuff people talk about in this thread.
But y'know-- as a PIECE OF SOFTWARE, how active is a Flash forum supposed to be?
Mandatory birth year post ^_^ Also it does seem a little different from when I first crash landed. Maybe just because I'm older/ used to it so everything seems less big, scary and unusual. Who knows :S

Yeah it's bin nuts. I went to sleep when it was at 7% n when I woke up it was at like 90. We beat our target at 3pm the day it went up, so we're like the fastest Kickstarter ever.
Notch gave us like 2 grand.
Don't play the original Flash game, I totes hate it now.
