right but this is true no matter when you buy an iphone, and will continue to be true for years to come

Making everyone spend more money, yay!
Or buy an Android phone, ya know.

I think it is true for all products if the company does not want to go bust, when the iPhone has been on the market has been on the market for a certain amount of time it become obsolete, thus the need for a new product, for today I don't think the iPhone 4 is that great. 720p is good but there is better, The ps3 controller has an accelerometer 1 year before the iPhone, it's nothing new. The face call is just wi-fi calling eg skype. The list goes on.
you're dumb if you don't realize the huge impact the iphone has had

...lol no.

Everyone understands the impact of the iPhone, it's just there are better phones to be had out there, especially if you look.
Ok well, the only reason I like Android is because it's open source, but also on top of that, the nexus one really does come quite close to the iPhone in terms of specs.
The impact from smart phones on every day life really hasn't peaked yet. I've had my G1 almost 18 months now, and I haven't seen a better phone from peers (minus the iPhone). I see people with old Sony Erissons and phones prior to the impact the iPhone made, and every single person says the same thing; "I want an iPhone".
I even had loads of people on facebook saying they wanted an iPad when the adverts first broadcasted here. The point I'm making is, the iPhone is now mainstream, thanks to great advertising and a great initial innovation, but the fact is there are better phones for the people who understand it.
My dad for example isn't going to need all the apps and all the power the iPhone has, so why spend that kind of money when he can have a fairly new Nokia which does the job just fine?
The phone only appeals to the people who need what's on it, everything they dont really need is just an extra, and it seems like who ever has the most extras is an automatic winner. Because the iPhone is so big, everyone just looks at it when they need the "newest" phone, when quite frankly, I'd prefer a Nexus One.
And yes, I have played around with an iPhone before you ask.

etc
That was basically what I was going to say but not as much so this might sound the same. To add to your point about mainstream, I know it has had an impact as you said, so has Hollywood blockbuster movies and google, but sometimes I feel an independently movie made by my friend has more impact than any hollywood one, just because the major studio (Apple for the iPhone) has money to spent on advertising their product as something you have to have. It's good to know you have been fooled by Apple to potentially buy their new product and think you need it.
I think there is an app for everything I have just said.

nice. for some reason i always thought you were one of those cool teens who go with the mainstream stuff like popped collars, iphones, and premarital sex, but now i see that you are a real strong man. some day i hope to wrestle you
my advice is: always go for whatever the nerds are having. and i mean the real nerds; the d&d nerds, the math nerds, not the ones that buy ipods and spend their time arguing about music. they know what they're talking about. they've done their research. they always have the best phones and best hardware and best computers. yes. that is a tip for life
my advice is: always go for whatever the nerds are having.
So I need to get WoW?

My friend played that game two years ago and is still suffering from WoW withdrawal.

WoW is actually an extremely fun game. Toast assures me it was better 2007ish, but it's still good by my standards. Yeah, it is actually tactical aswell.

fuck no, nerds are way too obsessed with numbers and being "not mainstream" and excluding people from their group that they are just as bad as the people who always buy mainstream.
just buy whatever it is that fits your needs

Gotta go with Sam here. WoW has received a lot of unjustified hate, it was actually a legitimately good game for a while, before the expansion fucked up high-end pvp in the ass. Without the pvp, it's not really a good game but it's still cute to play. Some retards would think it's sad, but some of the most fun and memorable times in my life were in WoW. That being said, I was just a kid when I played it, and besides the rich world, huge community, and sometimes decent pvp, that game doesn't have much to offer. Much of the gameplay IS based on painfully trying to make you play more and not quit the game, but that's normal in business. Out of the 120 days i played it, I probably spent maybe 20-30 days (so 480-720 hours) just sitting around in ironforge with nothing to do, and another big part (mostly raiding and PvE) was just boring and annoying and I wanted to get out of there. So yeah. Has its downsides, dunno about addictions, but there are a lot of things that you don't enjoy doing but still do to get better in the game. long story short, it's very time consuming and many aspects of it make people say it's a bad game, but overall there were tons of extremely enjoyable moments, and isn't it what gaming is all about?
well, not for me. gaming is about winning and being pro, but WoW offered that possibility in the burning crusade.

The way you said that in your hateful way, made me think you were excluded by a group of nerds who you envied, and therefore have a hatred for them and there ways.

Glaiel is a hateful little programmer
When you guys get older, and barely have time to wipe your own asses, you'll care much less about what's the most powerful or fastest.
'Best' will be whatever you can take out of the box and use with as little time and work as possible.
I'm on verizon right now. Do any of you nerds know what droid phone I should get? I'm due for a new phone
I love this site, but lately, it's slidin' into dark territory. I just watched some piece of diarrhea with a giant cereal eating hamster.
Blammed. No laughs. Not even one. It just laid there, like my ex-wife. The reviews are priceless. Here's my favorite:
"I'm not sure how I can rate this, it's just.... good job?", and a nice juicy 10 of course.
Factor in the recent [KK] assaults, the 20 or so decent ignored movies I've seen that have come and gone through the portal, and I can tell you that things are getting a bit scary up in here. I'm pretty sure if Egoraptor filmed himself farting diarrhea through a straw into a cup, it would go directly to the front page, right out of judgment, and hang out there for a good solid month, conservatively. Nothing against him. He's a popular dude. I get it. That's cool.
But lately, 'everything by everyone', is starting to look more like 'everything by a few people we know, and everyone else can go suck it'. That's a problem, and it needs fixing.

I watched Food, Inc last night. Every day I get more angry at the world. How the fuck does something like this happen? I don't think the problem is as bad in UK but i can only see us mirroring America increasingly. Did you know a single McDonalds hamburger contains meat from 1000 different cows which is then washed in Ammonia to kill E Coli before being "formed"? Tasty.
From now on I am only ever going to eat meat from the butchers and plant a garden to grow as much veg/herbs myself as possible.
If anyone is into food then PLEASE watch this, especially if you're in America. It'll open your eyes to the fucking shit people are being fed, and what you can do to change it.
On a related note, Rage Against the Machine at Download Festival last saturday was the best live experience of my life. They played brilliantly - as they did in 08' at Reading - but the atmosphere was simply unbelievable. I've never felt anything like that, and I've seen quite a few good live bands.

It honestly shouldn't matter if you play to root it (like unlocking on an iPhone). When it's rooted you can install any of the OS meaning you can have the newest version even if it hasn't properly been released for your phone (and they work better because they've been developed independently based on speed).
Try to go for a HTC phone as they seem to be the best though.
Also, rooting is incredibly fun ;)
You are correct Jimp. The problem is worse in America. Buy organic. Jamie Oliver knows what he's talking about, and his primary concern is obesity and diabetes. The real scary stuff is pesticides and new strains of antibiotic resistant disease.
At 6/17/10 10:34 AM, citricsquid wrote: even healthy food isn't really healthy, unless you're buying organic direct from the grower you can expect to be ingesting hundreds of different chemicals that slowly kill you.
True. It's the lesser of two evils, and now you all know why I live in farm country, and grow a lot of my own food. We certainly didn't move here for the incredible conversation.
Just this morning I overheard some locals talking about how that Kenyan fiend Obama was solely responsible for the oil spill, followed by the observation that Arizona's new immigration policies were too liberal, how Glenn Beck is misunderstood, and they wrapped it all up by saying, and I quote, "Thank God for Sarah Palin". Yikes. I understand she is supposed to visit the UK soon, and have a quaint chat with former PM Thatcher. Seeing that Lady Thatcher is in the throes of dementia, and that Sarah Palin coudn't outwit furniture, I'm guessing they'll a lot to talk about.
