Patience, children. Back in my day we we had crank operated modems and it took well over a week for a 100 kb file to download.

its been a problem for me at times, mostly when im supposed to be doing school work. but as far as flashing it up, i do get a good amount of it in.
i dont spend as much time flashing then i do on the forums, probably because the forums are easier. doing flash requires full attention, when the forum only requires pressing the refresh button everyonce and a while and posting in topics every once and a while.

You silly old people.
What is the largest library you have ever compiled in Flash?
Currently, the Four Second Firestorm collab is up to 1100 symbols, which makes it definitely my biggest.
Hi there!

this has about 1800. it was a very old flash and alot of them are pretty pointless...but meh.,

Well 1100 crushs my record.
I'm not exactly sure, but my guess is probably around 250ish back when I tweened by right clicking the timeline, thus creating dozens of those pesky tween graphics. Now I use the properties panel and all is well.
my first submission was over 300. its on my alt... i dont wanna show it, you dont wanna see it

i actually really like the first submissions that i got to pass. only got a score of like 1.6, but i still enjoy watching it.
(it was this if you feel like watching it)

I'm surprised that got such a low score.

Damn right, great example. That is exactly what I was talking about, it's not always rare when people review about that, and it's even A LOT less rare when people vote 0 because of things like that and don't review. What AITD said always helped to prove my point a bit, people here don't have a basis average voting. If you make a WoW game I'm sure a lot of people will 0 because 'they prefer WoW better', while others hate WoW but didn't even play the flash game and decided to vote 0... It could also depend on people's mood, let's say you just got a really terrible punishment, would you feel like voting 5 on everything? On the countary.

Like I said earlier is that people also vote 0 because they don't know how to play the game. The problem isn't with the authour but with the user because they don't bother reading the directions and just complain. The only way to stop this is by making sure that they can't play the game without receiving instructions, a good example is Red which had a tutorial that was mandatory to go through if you wanted to play.

You know, I haven't suddenly become illiterate or anything :P
It's not a problem if it doesn't interfere with stuff. I generally just have the forums in the background and check for new posts now and again when I'm dead / on a long flight in WoW or bored of whatever else I'm doing for a bit.
That's the great thing about having a reasonably slow (relatively) forum here.

javascript: CastVote(0);
Oh neat-o I'll use that someday.

Hold on... Flash can call javascript, right? What stops someone calling the Parent window for the same command from within the Flash file itself?
Flash that automatically protects itself regardless of user intent... twisted...
Guess this violates the security sandbox, not to mention the terms and conditions. But would it work?

It has been done before but the user who did it got caught and the score was of the flash was set back to what it was supposed to be.
The only problem with this is that Newgrounds can detect the IP that the vote comes from but would it do this to the whoever views the flash instead and they'll come up with the message saying you've already voted on it?
The only other problem that I just is that someone could hide their IP with anonymouse and use javascript: CastVote(0); to mass vote on a judgement flash by themselves.
Wish I had something usefull to post so I could become a reg again

Isnt this the reason the flash is shown from uploads.ungrounded.net, rather than the old uploads.newgrounds.com?
Anyway, our largest library was for Decline 3, with well over 6000 symbols in there, and thats all used symbols. It was really pushing flash (the actuall authoring environment) to its limits near the end, pretty horrible to work with.

At 10/4/06 03:03 AM, Onnet wrote: javascript: CastVote(0);
I don't get why they don't call the voting script via the Flash voting bar. That would basicaly prevent anyone from using that.

But what is the problem with people using that? If people wouldn't be able to use that, they'd just write the cast vote function on their own as a browser extension, it's really bo biggie and it's not a security threat.

I'm talking about calling that from the Flash itself. There was some kind of security hole and they switched to ungrounded, thats all I remember...

Ahh ok, I think they posted a thread about it in the news section......................screw it, I'm not gonna go through twenty pages of topics.
